<description><![CDATA[From iPads to Pixar, Jobs had a tremendous effect on the world of visual entertainment.]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>No joking around, kids. It’s a really <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/sad/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>sad</a> day. <a href="<a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/r-i-p/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>R.I.P</a>. Charles Napier or R.I.P. Unlucky Guard From Silence Of The Lambs?&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; rel=&#8221;nofollow&#8221;>Steve Jobs, the Tesla of our age, is dead</a>. Jobs wasn’t your run-of-the-mill billionaire. He taught us to dream bigger, both through his role at <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/apple-804/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Apple</a> and his role at <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/pixar-997/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Pixar</a>. He forever changed the world of not just personal computing, but also entertainment. Here are a few examples of the lasting impact he had on the world of entertainment.</p>
<h4>The iPad</h4>
<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/ipad-play-720p-movie.jpg"><img src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/ipad-play-720p-movie-e1317917134997.jpg" alt="" title="ipad-play-720p-movie" width="450" height="352" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-231475" /></a></p>
<p>While the <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/ipad/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>iPad</a> isn&#8217;t intended solely as a video player, the ability to watch a film or television show anywhere there&#8217;s a WiFi connection would have been unheard of just a few years ago. Combined with <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/streaming/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>streaming</a> video technology, the device has radically altered the entertainment landscape, creating an appetite for instantaneous consumption of film and television shows, and challenging the need for set broadcast times and the theatrical release of films.</p>
<h4>Final Cut Pro</h4>
<p><a href="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/3281-final-cut-studio4.jpg"><img src="http://cdn2.screenjunkies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/3281-final-cut-studio4-e1317916539655.jpg" alt="" title="3281-final-cut-studio4" width="450" height="282" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-231466" /></a></p>
<p>No longer do you need to have film-editing equipment to make yourself a movie. All you need is a digital camera and a bootlegged copy of Final Cut Pro. The product revolutionized the world of film, making <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/viral-videos/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>viral videos</a>, webisodes, fan series and truly <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/independent-film/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>independent film</a> in the reach of anyone who can point and shoot. Perhaps more than any other product in film history, Final Cut Pro leveled the playing field, democratizing the world of film.</p>

<description><![CDATA[What better way to say goodbye to Steve Jobs than with five hastily compiled videos?]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>By now you&#8217;ve probably heard the news that <a href="http://www.holytaco.com/if-steve-jobs-had-a-comic-book/" target="_blank">Steve Jobs</a> is <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/leonard-nimoy-retires-from-spocking/" target="_blank">retiring</a> from his position as the CEO of <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/apple-804/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Apple</a>. And there&#8217;s a good chance you heard the news while using a product that Jobs himself helped develop.</p>
<p>No reason was given for his departure, but sadly, it is most likely the result of his ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer. And the fact that one of the richest, most powerful men in the world can&#8217;t buy his way out of death is a real son of a bitch, at least in my opinion. But rather than sit around and contemplate the frailty of human life, I think our time would be better spent watching the following five Apple related <a href="http://www.break.com/c/technology-videos/ " target="_blank">technology videos</a>, don&#8217;t you? Good. Very good.</p>
<h4>1984</h4>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HhsWzJo2sN4" frameborder="0" width="450" height="283"></iframe></p>
<p>This famous Apple ad introduced the world to the Macintosh, and is widely considered one of the greatest marketing campaigns of all time. <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/ridley-scott-145/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Ridley Scott</a> directed the spot, which cost nearly $900,000, a ridiculous amount to spend by early <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/80s/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>80&#8242;s</a> standards. If you don&#8217;t get the <em>1984</em> references, or the Macintosh references, for that matter, chances are you need to pay more attention in History class.</p>
<h4>David Lynch</h4>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wKiIroiCvZ0" frameborder="0" width="450" height="283"></iframe></p>
<p>While the cool kids seem to love all things &#8220;Mac,&#8221; not everyone is a fan. As director <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/david-lynch-824/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>David Lynch</a> points out, this is especially true when it comes to watching movies.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em>Grab This Gear</em> is a new column that will highlight some of the choice entertainment gizmos available for your enjoyment. Sure, you could spend your hard-earned paycheck on food and shelter, but that won&#8217;t earn you any street cred.</p>
<p>First up are some new clothes for your coveted <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/ipad/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>iPad</a>. At the beach, we prefer watching movies on our iPad over reading the latest chick-lit, but regardless of your choice, you need a case to keep the sand, water and melted Popsicles from ruining your it.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Elegant, stylish and just a little bit fragile—that&#8217;s (you)r iPad in a nutshell. And when it comes to elegant, stylish and fragile creations, no matter how tough they look, what they really need is to be held tight and told everything&#8217;s going to be OK. It&#8217;s nothing to be ashamed of; and once you get a load of our favorite iPad cases you&#8217;ll see just how proud you can be of needing a little <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/tlc-735/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>TLC</a>.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0043O2FOI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=mama075-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373&amp;creativeASIN=B0043O2FOI" rel="nofollow">Headcase Etch A Sketch Hard Case for iPad &#8211; Red</a><img style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0043O2FOI&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></p>
<p><strong><a rel="attachment wp-att-53711" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/?attachment_id=53711"><img title="etch-a-sketch-ipad-case" src="http://www.mademan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/etch-a-sketch-ipad-case-300x239.jpg" alt="Best iPad Cases" width="300" height="239" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Selling for a mere $40, this is the ultimate choice for the kid at heart. While the knobs do absolutely nothing, the bright red mock Etch-A-Sketch facade does <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/scream-47/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>scream</a> fun without going overboard. It may make your iPad look like a toy, but it provides some very serious protection. Its high-impact resistant plastic is able to protect your device from minor bumps. It is also remarkably light which totally complements the iPad&#8217;s superior portability.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004T82VQK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=mama075-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373&amp;creativeASIN=B004T82VQK" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Clear Silicone Skin Case</a></p>
<p><strong><a rel="attachment wp-att-53712" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/?attachment_id=53712"><img title="ipad-2-clear-silicone-case" src="http://www.mademan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/ipad-2-clear-silicone-case-300x300.jpg" alt="Best iPad Cases" width="300" height="300" /></a></strong></p>
<p>For a minimalist and cheap approach, why not consider the Clear Silicone iPad case? Available for about $8, the package even comes with a free screen guard which gives your <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/apple-804/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Apple</a> iPad good all-around protection. The treated silicone material is both dirt and stain resistant. Should it get a little cruddy after constant use, it is totally safe to wash with water and some mild detergent.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003I8GZ7S/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=mama075-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373&amp;creativeASIN=B003I8GZ7S" rel="nofollow">Piel Frama Premium Leather Case</a><img style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B003I8GZ7S&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></p>
<p><strong><a rel="attachment wp-att-53713" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/?attachment_id=53713"><img title="piel-frama-leather-case-magnetic-closure-2" src="http://www.mademan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/piel-frama-leather-case-magnetic-closure-2-295x300.jpg" alt="Best iPad Cases" width="295" height="300" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Those with a little more cash to spare, should give the Piel Frama iPad case a closer look. Handcrafted by <a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/spanish-movie/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Spanish</a> leather artisans, these leather cases are so luxurious and are extremely exquisite. The magnetic locking mechanism ensures that your iPad is snug and secure inside the portfolio design. The case also doubles as a stand so proud owners can show off their shiny new iPad and THE leather case.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004DMBX3E/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=mama075-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399369&amp;creativeASIN=B004DMBX3E" rel="nofollow">tyPad Gen2 Case for iPad with Built-in Bluetooth Keyboard</a><img style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B004DMBX3E&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399369" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></p>
<p><strong><a rel="attachment wp-att-53714" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/?attachment_id=53714"><img title="typad-5" src="http://www.mademan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/typad-5-300x204.jpg" alt="Best iPad Cases" width="300" height="204" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Although the iPad&#8217;s virtual keyboard is comfortable to use, some may prefer a real keyboard. Typad&#8217;s $70 offering is not only an iPad case, it also doubles as a keyboard to complement your tablet. The case is made from quality leatherette and can also be converted into a stand to prop up your iPad. The keyboard connects via Bluetooth to enhance your iPad experience.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QKO6M8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=mama075-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373&amp;creativeASIN=B004QKO6M8" rel="nofollow">Apple iPad Smart Cover</a><img style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B004QKO6M8&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /></p>
<p><strong><a rel="attachment wp-att-53715" href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/?attachment_id=53715"><img title="apple-ipad-case" src="http://www.mademan.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/apple-ipad-case-300x272.png" alt="Best iPad Cases" width="300" height="272" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Apple zombies are sure to pick up this little baby for $29. Apple&#8217;s official iPad case has a soft but sturdy outer shell and a nice microfiber interior to better caress your shiny new gizmo. It comes in a neat matte black finish with the ubiquitous Apple logo adorning the front case. This case can be folded both vertically and horizontally so you can enjoy your iPad at virtually any angle.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/tag/neill-blomkamp-752/' class='linkify' target='_blank'>Neill Blomkamp</a> broke out in big ways with <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-review/review-district-9/" target="_blank"><em>District 9</em></a>. Now, all eyes are on this guy in anticipation of what his <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/is-district-10-filming-this-fall/" target="_blank">next project</a> will be. Turns out, it&#8217;s this some kind of thing. The mysterious video (titled simply &#8216;Video By: Neill Blomkamp&#8217;) was included in Wired Magazine&#8217;s iPad-only issue, and features two young men discovering some weird little mutant corpse. Nobody knows for certain if this viral video is part of a larger film project (possibly about the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montauk_Monster" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Montauk Monster</a>), or just some pointless Internet thing.</p>
<p>But I can tell you one thing: this video makes me inexplicably hungry. There&#8217;s some good-looking meat on them haunches. I&#8217;m pretty sure this is where McRib comes from.
