The director refuses to be away from his family for so long. And no one tells a scarved man what to do.
Fox is going to make an action-adventure movie that will be written by Carlton Cuse, will star Hugh Jackman, and will be directed by Shawn Levy.
Hugh Jackman is sooooo stoked about this new Wolverine. You think you know how stoked he is, but, bro…you have no idea.

If you haven’t yet had your fill of robots kicking each other’s asses in movies then this Real Steel trailer is going to make you go cuckoo bananas.
Darren Aronofsky discussed some of his plans for the Wolverine sequel, and it sounds like this could be a really good movie about a guy who has knives jutting out of his metacarpus.
The Darren Doppler is tweakin' again. Aronofsky's deal to direct Wolverine 2 is so close to being a real thing that Fox is already talking about concessions of the un-Sour Patch Kids variety. The studio will allow Aronofsky to shoot the sound stage portions of the film in New York so the filmmaker and Hugh Jackman can still go home to their families at night. Production will begin in March, after Aronofsky has had time to pimp Black Swan to the press. After the New York scenes have been shot, the production will move to Japan, far, far away from any wives and kids. You know what that means… Both guys will finally have time to finish The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest novel. They can't wait to see how the Millenium Trilogy ends. (Deadline)
In further Awesome Directors Making Batsh*t Decisions news, Darren Aronofsky is one step closer to directing Wolverine 2, the sequel to a movie that starred Will.I.Am and featured a guy causing a tank to explode by punching it in the cannon.
There was some debate online whether he would choose the comic book movie, or go with Tales From The Gangster Squad late last week. He's reportedly passed on Gangster Squad, leaving his schedule wide-open for Wolvie. Though, no deal is in place and we've heard no official word from his reps, it's likely he'll parlay Black Swan's Oscar buzz into instructing Hugh Jackman to growl. Or he could choose to do a good movie. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, Nikki Minaj should probably practice surfing on nuclear warheads. (Deadline)
We'd heard the rumors but they sounded too crazy to even qualify. Yet somehow, against all laws of nature, Darren Aronofsky is in talks to direct Wolverine 2. Aronofsky surpassed rumored shoe-in David Slade to win the honor of directing the second film in this so far pretty sh*tty franchise, just days after it was announced that Zack Snyder won the Superman directing duties.
May be a case of Justin Bieber punk'n us all, but if not, at least we have a director who can artfully convey Wolverine's frustration with the world that won't accept him as he surfs on a missile or whatever ridiculous action set-piece makes its way into this film.
Where this leaves Preacher or movies that are a good idea for Aronofsky to do, we do not know. But if you ask me, this move is in direct reaction to the failure of The Wrestler action-figure line. Apart from the Marisa Tomei Lapdancer dolls, those things just didn't sell. (Deadline)
David Slade would be wise not to decorate his home office with Wolverine action figures just yet. Though it was believed that the helmer of Hard Candy and assorted vampire movies was a shoe-in for the Wolverine Goes To Japan directing gig, a new contendor has emerged. Granted, he's a highly-unlikely candidate, but Darren Aronofsky's hat has somehow been thrown into the ring. Whether he threw that hat himself, or some neighbor kid bully threw it in the ring just to be a jerk remains to be seen.
Given Aronofsky's body of work, I'm going to go ahead and rule him out. The X-Men films have been twisted into goofy, popcorn wannabe-action films, and Wolverine is no exception. Though if anyone could lend some gravity to the material, it's Aronofsky. Look what he did for Marlon Wayans. (Deadline)
Hugh Jackman had better turn in his Man Card. Dude, just passed up the chance to play beauty parlor in Avon Man in favor of lifting a bunch of weights. OMG! What a fop!
Sure, you can say that Jackman dropped out because the shooting schedule shifted, and he needs to get his arm muscles up to par for Wolverine 2. But we all know the truth, he'd rather just play with balls and lift weights all day. Hugh Jackman is just way too manly. Pretty much everyone knows that. (Deadline)
Filming began yesterday on Hugh Jackman's robo-pugilism adventure Real Steel and we have the first set photos courtesy of USA Today. In the film, Jackman plays a washed up boxer who, along with his son, promotes and coaches a robotic fighter to win a boxing championship. We get a good glimpse at the robot, Noisy Boy, in the first pic and note that this is not a CG character. That's an honest-to-goodness robot pictured with Jackman. Sure, there is always the danger that it might go haywire and attack the crew, but it's still far safer than working with "Rampage" Jackson. Once his cold eyes are upon you, you're already dry-humped. You just don't know it yet.CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS AFTER THE JUMP…
Sometimes I feel like Hugh Jackman extracts his life-force from gay jokes. Between all the song and dance and now this casting announcement, it has to be the only explanation. In Peter Farrelly's upcoming anthology film, titled Untitled Comedy, Jackman will play a bachelor on a date with Kate Winslet. Kate has a hard time concentrating during the social call as Jackman's character has testicles attached to his chin. Nice work, guys. 1999 is laughing its ass off. The short segment, known as The Catch, is just one of several sketches that populate the film. Now that Jackman and "balls on chin" are forever wed in Google bliss, it's a good thing he didn't star in Brokeback Mountain. The combined might of those gay jokes could cause him to go supernova and destroy us all. FLAME ON! (Digital Spy)
Dakota is sacrificed to Hollywood.Dreamworks has been searching for some bright-eyed, innocent young person to fill the role of Hugh Jackman's son in Real Steel, and rascal Dakota Goyo emerged "victorious." He's not to be confused with Dakota Fanning, the states of North and South Dakota, or the Dakota Reach-Around, this thing that Wookie does. From THR:DreamWorks, making its first movie under its deal with Disney, issued a public casting call in early February. It also conducted open auditions in Chicago and New York, looking for someone to play a "street-smart, tough, charming kid with a hard, untrusting outer shell which hides a warm enthusiastic spirit beneath."And they had to go to Canada to find him. What, there aren't enough punkass little sh*ts in America to fit your desired Jackman spawn? Gimme five days and I'll give any kid you pick an untrusting outer shell. …The warm, enthusiastic spirit underneath I cannot guarantee.
"Lucy, you can no play in da show tonight."Hugh Jackman has proven himself once again the manliest man who ever manned by signing on for the comedy Avon Man. The movie tells the tale of an out-of-work car salesman who begrudgingly accepts work as an Avon rep. He finds it emasculating at first but takes a shine to it when he discovers that shimmers really highlight his cheekbones. That and he charms women to buy his assorted creams and paints. The film will begin shooting in April with Enchanted's Kevin Lima behind the camera. No word yet who will be behind Jackman. (**rimshot! gets glared at by effeminent barista**) (Coming Soon)
You're a big fan of some Hollywood celebrity. You want to learn more about their private lives. And Us Weekly's "Stars: They're just like us!" section stopped being riveting after you found out Christian Slater drinks Starbucks. You want to learn the dirt… the real dirt… but you don't want to have to root through the celeb's trash bins for goodies. All that usually gets you is a bunch of hot garbage and a night in jail where hot garbage smell is an aphrodisiac for your cell mates. Well, thanks to the internet, you can now just hack into her Netflix account. After all, sometimes a DVD rental queue is much more telling than a heap of old groceries, anyway.

1980's nostalgia continues to boom as Paul Reubens has announced that he'll be dusting off the red bow-tie. The LA Times reports that Pee-wee Herman will perform onstage in Hollywood this November for a limited engagement at the Music Box @ Fonda. Perhaps if this run is successful it will lead to the big screen productions Reubens has been trying to get off the ground for the last nine years. The actor stated, "I've put part of him away for a long time but part of him has always been here with me. I think it will be like riding a bike — which is not a bad analogy for Pee-wee, by the way." Although his humor is off the beaten track, I'm glad that Reubens decided to pound the pavement and put this show together. His laziness was beginning to rub me the wrong way.
