ADAM SCOTT will appear with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in My Mother’s Curse as well as the comedy See Girl Run opposite Robin Tunney where he’ll play a sensitive artist. Adam, I hope you checked with Paul Rudd to make sure he wasn’t interested in these roles first. He has seniority. (THR)

ANTHONY MACKIE will join The Gangster Squad after all. He’ll play Rocky Washington, the first black lieutenant in the LAPD who bumped himself back down to beat cop before being recruited to join Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin‘s elite squad of gangsterbusters. He’s their Winston. (Variety)

ROBIN WRIGHT is in talks to star opposite Kevin Spacey in David Fincher‘s Netflix original series, “House Of Cards.” The political thriller is slated to begin production next spring so she has plenty of time to add and remove “Penn” from her name before the guy who animates the opening credits has to request last call. Oh, fret and bother! Young Canadian eyeballs mustn’t see any untoward images nor should their semi-French ears hear a naughty word. It’s Queen’s rule!!

That’s why Canadian broadcasters are urging to have Netflix Canada forced to abide by the same regulations which they have to work under. That, or money. Yeah, it seems like a money thing.

Now that Netflix is generating their own content, it could be argued that they are a broadcaster. However, regulating Netflix is only a few steps away from regulating the Internet. And what will happen then? Our wives and girlfriends will find our porn is what. Please Canada, I urge you to look into the horny depths of your pervert hearts and call off the hounds. Thank you. Netflix To “Air” Episodes Of Spacey/Fincher’s ‘House Of Cards’

Netflix continues to make the competition look silly, this time by scoring its first original programming agreement for two seasons of “House of Cards,” a new show produced by David Fincher and Kevin Spacey, who also stars.

Yeah, that could be pretty good.

Details haven’t been disclosed, but Deadline reports that the video-rental juggernaut paid over $100M for the privilege of acquiring 26 original eps. The series focuses on British politicians clamoring for power at the end of Margaret Thatcher‘s tenure. Huh. I just bored myself to actual tears by simply typing that sentence. Well, the subject matter doesn’t sound terribly engaging, but one mustn’t doubt David Fincher. Spacey, maybe (K-Pax, Pay It Forward), but never Fincher. Besides, I’ve always felt that Kevin Spacey was a dry little British man trapped in a dry little American man’s body, so let’s see where this goes.

The move comes at a critical time for Netflix, which has performed its finishing move on Blockbuster, but is looking at growing online competition from Amazon and Hulu, while facing DVD competition from Redbox. This move is the first of its kind, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a winner. But with these names attached, it’s hard to bet against it.

Kevin Spacey Working On His English Accent

Everyone is getting on board the “quality TV” bandwagon, and now that includes such names as David Fincher and (again) Kevin Spacey. The project is called “House of Cards,” a series based on the novel and British miniseries:

“The political thriller … is set at the end of Margaret Thatcher‘s tenure as prime minister and follows a British politician with his eye on the top job.”

Fincher is executive producing along with Spacey and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button screenwriter Eric Roth. It hasn’t been shopped to networks yet. I can guess that it probably won’t be on AMC, since the whole political thriller angle is pretty much covered by “Rubicon” on that network. But then again maybe the drawing power of Spacey and Fincher would offset that. (via Deadline)
