It will pick up where 'Vegas Vacation' left off. That is to say, the gutter.

Good news for people who like lackluster news! Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the minds behind the pretty funny Horrible Bosses, are on tap to take over the National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise, which has been largely forgotten over the years, especially considering the decades-long revelation that Chevy Chase is extremely unlikable.

The new Vacation will focus on a grown up Rusty Griswold, who will carry the torch his father passed by taking his own family to Wally World, with predictably disastrous results. Of course, the burning (and itching) question is: Who will play Rusty?

A brief list of suggestions:

Jonah Hill

Delroy Lindo

Jean Dujardin

Chevy Chase’s actual kids, if he found a women to love him long enough to make them

Maybe Ben Stiller‘s brother

Chris Pratt (my choice)

Joel McHale

Charlie Day

Justin Long

Yeah. Still not very fired up about this one.

Oh man, I bet these bosses are gonna be sooooooo bad! Let's go get drunk, guys!

It might not have enjoyed the success of The Hangover, but Horrible Bosses will be doing a victory lap for New Line, with director Seth Gordon and all three principals, Charlie Day, Jason Sudekis, and Jason Bateman returning. It’s unknown at press time if Jamie Foxx will be reprising his role as Snow Falling on Cedars-pirating Motherf*cker Jones, but rest assured we have a reporter camped outside his house to monitor any new developments.

While Horrible Bosses wasn’t quite a blockbuster, its modest budget generated $117 million domestic, which is reason enough to really drive the bastard into the ground with a sequel.

No plot details are available, but considering how big a part the actual horrible bosses played in the original, expect some big casting announcements for those parts as things develop.

While this news doesn’t have me terribly excited, its putting a little more Charlie Day in my life, which is more than I can say for that stupid Abraham Lincoln movie Steven Spielberg is putting out.

Be glad you don't work at any of these places.

In Horrible Bosses, coming to DVD on October 11th, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day have bosses that are so, uh, horrible, that the group hatches a scheme to murder them. Unbeknownst to the characters, they’re actually operating within a common cinematic setting: the horrible workplace. Don’t believe me? Here are six of the worst workplaces in movie history.

Metropolis

Next time you want to complain about work, just remember how bad the “employees” in Fritz Lang’s science fiction classic Metropolis have it. They work like slaves in an underground civilization at the will of their wealthy overlords. The only entertainment they get is the occasional herky-jerky robot girl dance.

The Apartment

This movie will probably seem a bit truer to the real workplace experience than Metropolis. No robot girls here, just an environment in which getting ahead is more important than being a decent human being. In the case of CC Baxter, this means giving over the keys to his apartment to his bosses so they can use it to have sex with women who aren’t their wives. As if that wasn’t enough, Baxter’s in love with the elevator girl who’s in a toxic relationship with his horrible, sleazy (and married) boss. Bad work environment!

2001: A Space Odyssey

Traveling from Earth to the moon to various other points in space may be easy in 2001, but it’s still a pain in the ass. The toilet has a set of instructions with like 12 steps, and the “food” can all be drunk through a straw. Oh, and your boss is a homicidal computer with a creepy glowing red eye. Murdering your boss would be justified, in this case.

What better way to spend your time off than by watching others work?

This Labor Day weekend, as you prepare to pack away your white clothing and criticize your brother-in-law’s grilling ability, you’ll want to chill out with a movie or two. What better way to relax than with these nine work-related films that stick it to the man? Seriously, screw that guy.

9 to 5

When the siren call of Dolly Parton’s chest lures Dabney Coleman to the jagged rocks of desire, he finds himself in a tough situation. Tired of his sexist and egotistical attitude, the secretary pool abducts him and holds him hostage. While in their capture, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Parton institute some new practices around the office that up productivity. Which really isn’t that easy with Parton’s chest hanging around.

F.I.S.T.

When jerk bosses are treating their workers poorly and garnishing wages, there’s only one man who can lead the Federation of Interstate Truckers and fight for what is good and just. And that man is Sly Stallone. He’s like Norma Rae, but instead of holding a sign, he holds a pipe. He also uses a different definition of the word “strike.”

Clerks

Kevin Smith‘s breakthrough film addressed the drudgery of working retail. Filmed for $19 in his home state of New Jersey, it didn’t win any awards for acting. However, it was well-received by critics and audiences all the same due to Smith’s strong dialogue and bizarre cast of characters.

Killing bosses and Kevin James visiting T.G.I. Fridays with a gorilla.

This weekend marks one of the only weekends this summer that won’t be invaded by superheros, aliens, or gigantic morphing robots. It will however welcome the return of Kevin James in a kids movie. But don’t fret! There are other options available to you. An air-conditioned theater can still be your sanctuary.

So, what’s playing this weekend?

Horrible Bosses

<a class='img' href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/theres-funny-stuff-in-this-horrible-bosses-red-band-trailer/' title='There's Funny Stuff In 'Horrible Bosses' Red Band'>
There's Funny Stuff In 'Horrible Bosses' Red Band

Horrible Bosses follows three guys with varying degrees of ineptness as they try to murder their employers. I often wish I had to bear the burden of Jennifer Aniston‘s relentless sexual harassment.

With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 76%, you can walk in feeling fairly confident that Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day will deliver a fair amount of laughs.

Best Review

Takes a thin premise and milks it for all its worth, riding a witty script and super-strong cast to comedic glory.

Stephen Silver – Patch

Worst Review

Look at how crazy is the craziness we are doing for you. Isn’t it crazy? the movie shouts, and the more it does, the less you’ll laugh.

Kyle Smith – New York Post

Our Recommendation

If you’re a fan of the actors, and like a dark comedy that doesn’t get so dark you feel uncomfortable, then give Horrible Bosses a shot. Jennifer Aniston also has a real whorish mouth in it. She’s come a long way since Friends.

The zookeeper

Trailer For Kevin James’ ‘The Zookeeper’: Nothing Matters Anymore

Kevin James plays a zookeeper who can talk to animals. Ugh. The animals help him try to win a girl back who’s too much of a bitch to even deserve their efforts. Ugh.

Judging by the 13% it’s currently receiving on Rotten Tomatoes, you should avoid this movie like Kevin James should avoid trans fats. And yes, I know fat jokes are easy, but that doesn’t make them any less funny.

Best Review

James is appealing enough to make it work – just barely.

Chris Hewitt – St Paul Pioneer Press

Worst Review

Offensive to women, men, children, parents, WASPs, Asians, African-Americans, animals and zookeepers … a movie with no conceivable audience.

Steven D. Greydanus – Decent Films Guide

Our Recommendation

If your kid desires to see this one, drop him or her off at the theater with a crisp $10 bill, make your way over to the nearest strip club for their extensive buffet, and return ninety minutes later not feeling like you want to end your life.

The Ward

‘The Ward’ Trailer Might Hurt A Little

A thriller centered on a woman stuck in a looney bin who is being terrorized by a ghost. So is she crazy, or is there really a pain in the ass poltergeist making her appear that way?

The film’s rating of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes would indicate that this isn’t John Carpenter’s best work since Halloween.

Best Review

Basically, this is a ghost story merged with a slasher film and sealed with Shutter Island twist. But at least Carpenter the spook-meister knows how to goose you.

Owen Gleiberman – Entertainment Weekly

Worst Review

Continues the painful decline of a director who seems more nostalgic for past glories than excited about new ideas.

Jeannette Catsoulis – New York Times

Our Recommendation

Re-watch Halloween and The Thing.

Project Nim

About a chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of a experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. So basically, the reverse of Tarzan.

Critics are loving this documentary, granting it a 95% thus far.

Best Review

“Project Nim” is practically irresistible. The story keeps getting odder and richer and more complicated.

Michael Phillips – Chicago Tribune

Worst Review

Another singular case exploited and expanded to look ordinary.

Chris Cabin – Filmcritic.com

Our Recommendation

How can a movie starring a cute baby monkey be bad? It can’t be, damnit.

Jennifer Aniston is a horrible boss. Alongside Kevin Spacey and Colin Farrel, she forms a trifecta of crappy work superiors in Horrible Bosses, out this week. How horrible is she? She hits on her male employees. The horror.

A word from Jennifer: “It’s impossible to satisfy everyone, and I suggest we all stop trying.”

Exactly the safe kind of mainstream comedy you’d expect it to be.

Horrible Bosses is exactly the safe kind of mainstream comedy you’d expect it to be. It’s amusing and likeable because the three guys are funny. So no point lamenting the missed opportunity for a really dark satire, because they were never going to make that movie. At least this trio kept it entertaining.

Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day) and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) all have lousy bosses. Harken (Kevin Spacey) demeans and overworks Nick. Julia (Jennifer Aniston) sexually harasses Dale (it’s funny because it’s not a man intimidating a woman). Bobby Pellit (Colin Farrell) is just coked-up and crazy.
<a class='img' href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/theres-funny-stuff-in-this-horrible-bosses-red-band-trailer/' title='There's Funny Stuff In 'Horrible Bosses' Red Band'>
There's Funny Stuff In 'Horrible Bosses' Red Band

You know Hollywood’s not going to make a movie about really killing your boss. Horrible Bosses at least has fun with three dorks exploring the underworld. Kurt especially makes continuous asides like he’s really reacting to the process of finding a hired killer. They’ve seen Strangers on a Train and Throw Mamma from a Train but apparently not 9 to 5, and you get some slapstick as they bumble through reconnaissance missions.

You know exactly where the story is going and it’s all to keep the heroes innocent and likeable. It’s pretty funny when Kurt plays petty pranks with Pellit’s toiletries. Dale has some good Charlie Day freak-outs. Bateman gets some good lines too so he’s not relegated to straight man. These three work together, and it’s kind of nice to see this generation’s reliable studio comedians emerge.

6 photosJennifer Aniston

The bosses get to be extreme too. Spacey is basically doing Swimming with Sharks light, but Aniston really relishes saying the P word and talking about touching herself. If you have trouble imagining a man disliking Aniston’s advances, consider that Dale actually has a loving fiancée he wants to be faithful to. Or, remember that in real life, oversexed aggressive women don’t look like Jennifer Aniston.

I was going to compliment one twist on a standard cliché, but then they followed it up with the usual cliché so it would be a spoiler. I thought Horrible Bosses was a little funnier than Bad Teacher. If you’re hating on The Hangover Part II, at least they’re going somewhere with their formula. You’d rather have an “original” plotline that plays it safe? Well, at least I’ve gotten to see Rubber and Detention, so I can let these summer comedies coast.

Typically, I need to be strongly cursed at or shown boobies to react. Suffice it to say that this new red band trailer for Horrible Bosses had my full attention.

Here we see that this movie really has some bite and raunchy set-ups. It looks pretty funny, though we’re worried that it gives away too many of the film’s jokes and not enough of Jennifer Aniston walking around naked. More of that please.

Poor Charlie Day. Always having to have sex with and be fondled by his hot, rich boss. Don’t get any ideas, Longshanks.

The posters feature the tortured trio – Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day – against brightly colored backgrounds, wishing that their awful bosses were “no longer among the living.” That’s tip-toe language for “dead and not necessarily loving it.” These are kinda just remixes of the first set, which also feature such sinister supervisors as Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston, but overall the previews have gotten me psyched for this one. I like my comedy the way I like my coffee: with a lot of attempted murdering.

Bossocide will commence in theaters July 8th, 2011. (Collider)

There’s one thing that separates great comedies from merely good ones: Murder. And the latest murder-comedy is Horrible Bosses, about three guys (Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis) who plot to murder their respective terrible bosses (Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, and Colin Farrell) with the help of a murder expert (Jamie Foxx). Then, things go exactly as planned, with the wacky trio murdering their bosses and not getting caught. Just kidding, things go hilariously awry.

My favorite part of the trailer is the appearance at the end from Wendell “William ‘Bunk’ Moreland” Pierce. I’m pretty excited to see this when it comes out on July 8th. I might even…kill to see it. Probably not, though.

Vince Vaughn, John Mayer and now Charlie Day ("It's Always Sunny") joins the No Jennifer Aniston Club. Check out these preview pics for 'Horrible Bosses' with Kevin Spacey and Jason Bateman.

Whether it’s (in order of not douchey to very douchey) Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn or John Mayer, nobody seems to want to get with Jennifer Aniston. Charlie Day (“It’s Always Sunny”) gets inducted into that club in the new movie Horrible Bosses. The first preview pic above shows Day not getting friendly with Aniston’s nympho dentist character.

Horrible Bosses sounds pretty fun. Directed by Seth Gordon (King of Kong), the film stars Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Day as three pals downtrodden by their terrible employers – Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell and Aniston – who they decide to kill. If you haven’t at least considered the possibility of beating your boss within an inch of his or her life, you are not an American.

The employers will attempt to downsize their supervisors in theaters July 8th. These images first appeared in Entertainment Weekly.
Warner Bros. is taking the holiday as an opportunity to give you a glimpse of what they’ve got planned for 2011. Here we have first looks at The Hangover 2, Sherlock Holmes 2, Horrible Bosses, Something Borrowed, Final Destination 5, and The Apparition (featuring Ashley Greene in her nightie). You may have seen set pics from these films before but these are the first official publicity stills. You haven’t seen this before. Except in the case of Ashley Greene. If you are a Jonas, you have seen her wearing much less.

Let’s have a look!!

The Hangover 2 – May 26th, 2011

Zach Galifianakis does not travel light.

Something Borrowed – June 10th, 2011

Kate Hudson in a wedding-themed romantic comedy? Seems like a refreshing change of pace.

Sherlock Holmes 2 - December 16th, 2011

Here’s our first look at Noomi Rapace‘s American film debut as I don’t know, a character from “F-Troop,” I guess.

Horrible Bosses – July 29th, 2011

When I quickly glanced at this, I thought it was Hall Pass. Or the more recent movie where Justin Long and Drew Barrymore are dating.

Final Destination 5 – August 26th, 2011

Don’t just stand there! Someone is being wine cellared to death!!

The Apparition – September 9th, 2011

Not sure why he gets to be fully-clothed. Not complaining, just not sure.

How do you make the ensemble cast of Horrible Bosses even better? Throw in the "Old Spice Guy," of course.

Isaiah Mustafa, the star of the now legendary deodorant ads will reportedly play a cop in the upcoming comedy. Mustafa joins a list of Hollywood heavyweights, including Colin Farrell, Charlie Day, Jennifer Aniston, and Kevin Spacey, just to name a few.

Will the fact that Mustafa is the face of Old Spice create animosity with co-star Kevin Spacey, a well known Brut man? We'll keep you posted (Cinema Blend).

Last time I wrote about Horrible Bosses, I told you that at least two more big names were joining the film. Well, if you'd have listened to me and my warnings, you'd be a millionaire by now (somehow). Variety is reporting that Kevin Spacey is set to join the bizzaro cast, which already includes Charlie Day, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, and Jason Bateman. The film centers around three co-workers who decide to kill their horrible bosses (hence the title), and Spacey will play one of the bosses in question. Given his previous work in Swimming with Sharks and Glengarry Glen Ross, he should have no problem with the role.

I blame it on T-Pain.Just when I think I've wrapped my head around Horrible Bosses, it goes and throws me another curve ball. The first name I heard assoicated with the film was Jennifer Aniston. That's bad. But the next name I heard was Charlie Day from "Always Sunny." That's good. Then I heard Colin Farrell was joining the cast, and I was all like "Whaaaaaat?" But then Jason Bateman came on board, so I was back to "Yeeeeeeaaaah!"But now comes word that Jamie Foxx is joining the film, and my head is about to explode from all the confusion. At first glance, the addition of Foxx to the cast seems like a bad sign. He hasn't had a really good role since he won the Oscar in 2004 for Ray, and everybody knows he only won because the Academy wanted to give it to a blind guy. But on the other had, Cinema Blend is reporting that Foxx will play the role of a scam artist named Motherf*cker Jones. You don't have to be a Foxx fan to appreciate a character named Motherf*cker. But the confusion doesn't stop there. Latino Review is reporting that “There will be at least two other big announcements in the next few weeks regarding other roles." Based on what I've seen so far, my money is on Carlos Mencia and Aziz Ansari.

When I heard that Jennifer Aniston had signed on to star in Horrible Bosses, I assumed that the film was going to be a real hunk of crap. But when I heard that Charlie Day from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is in talks to sign on, I was forced to reconsider. Throw Jason Bateman into the mix, and this film about three friends who plot to kill their bosses seems a lot more interesting. Jason Bateman will play a man who believes his hard work will be rewarded but when he gets passed over for a promotion, he hits rock bottom. Charlie Day plays a hapless guy, always in the wrong place at the wrong time. A part still to be cast is a ladies’ man who is good at his job, but gets a rude awakening when his boss passes away and gets replaced. Word on "the street" is that Colin Farrell will be playing said ladies' man. I guess "the street" must read Collider.

Shocking news! Jennifer Aniston has decided to break the mold and step out of her comfort zone by taking on a role in a romantic comedy. Wanderlust, which was acquired by Universal Pictures, will be produced by Judd Apatow and will costar Apatow regular Paul Rudd. Aniston and Rudd will play a married couple trying to escape the trappings of the city life for a counterculture existence. Sounds amazing! As if one groundbreaking role wasn't enough, Aniston has also signed on to star in New Line Cinema's Horrible Bosses, which is no doubt a dark psychological thriller. Either that, or another sh*tty comedy. (Deadline)
