America's Least Objectionable Filmmaker Chris Columbus is apparently a fan of the cinema of Korea.

America’s Least Objectionable Filmmaker Chris Columbus is apparently a fan of the cinema of Korea. And not the ultra-violent squid-eating kind, but the gentler kind. But still with ghosts and suicide. The movie is called Hello Ghost, and here’s a quick synopsis: “After a young man tries to kill himself, he’s haunted by four ghosts. They won’t stop haunting him until he helps each of them fulfill one wish.”

And Chris Columbus knows that no movie not in English is worth watching by American audiences, so he’s snapped up the remake rights:

“After watching Hello Ghost I was immediately struck by the film’s ability to mix comedy, drama and complex emotional themes. Its strong universal storyline translates to any culture, and I’m looking forward to bringing a version of this wonderful story to the English-speaking audience.”

Thanks, Chris! His last movie was the forgotten Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, so maybe this one will pass by and be forgotten as well. But, er, best of luck Mr. Columbus. (via Deadline)
