Also lending this project legitimacy is the fact that Leonardo Dicaprio‘s production company, Appian Way, is throwing its weight behind the project. DiCaprio has no intention of starring in the film, which is probably a blessing, as I’m sick of seeing him as a cop and can’t imagine him as Dracula.

If all goes well with this film, Appian Way would like to establish Jonathan Harker, the Scotland Yard detective, as a franchise character, having him pursue more villains of lore in future installments. The film has of course been fast-tracked, though no production dates have been given. The way I see it, they’ve got about seven weeks before people throw in the towel and trade their vampire allegiances for zombie ones.
