‘Happy Feet 2′ Trailer Sticks To The Formula Of ‘Dancing Penguins’

Apparently the first Happy Feet left a lot of unanswered questions about dancing penguins, so the auteurs behind it are coming back to us with Happy Feet 2.

Hollywood’s A-list seemed to also agree that the story was from over with the first one, so Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Elijah Wood, Brad Pitt, and Hank Azaria are all lending their voices to this victory lap. I’m not sure how to tell all the penguins apart, though. Maybe they should wear little hats or something?

Because it’s a film about dancing penguins, those black-and-white birds are going to need a soundtrack full of “hot jams” both old and new, and fortunately, they get what they need in the form of penguinified versions of “Mama Said Knock You Out” and “SexyBack,” so let the receptionist at your office know that this will be a delightful film to take her niece to.

You know what’s a funny word? “Tinker.” Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Moving right along, Focus Features has announced a release date for Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson’s new film, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. The cast includes a few folks bat-swiped from The Dark Knight Rises, Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy, not to mention Colin Firth and Mark Strong. The spy drama will be released November 18, 2011.

Based on the novel by John Le Carre, Tinker, Tailor tells the story of a spy named George Smiley (Oldman), who must come out of retirement, tasked with finding a mole in British Secret Intelligence Service during the Cold War. This one’s got a lot of Oscar buzz around it, hence the November release. Also getting released that weekend are The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and Happy Feet Two, two other serious Best Picture contenders. (Variety)

New ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’ Trailer Is Penguin-Filled To The Max

People love penguins. And if those penguins have cute and non-threatening hip hop attitude and are animated, people love them even more. So, it stands to reason that people are going to love this teaser for Happy Feet 2, which features adorable penguins performing penguin-y renditions of “Mama Said Knock You Out” and “Sexyback.”

So if you like penguins, but you hate Jim Carrey, this will probably be the penguin movie you look to for your penguin-related entertainment needs this year. Happy Feet 2 also stars Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Pink, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Sofia Vergara.
