At the beginning of the week, we all wondered what caused reporter Serene Branson to go all Boomhauer on live television during her Grammys recap. Several questions flooded our minds about her sudden loss of the ability to form actual words. Did she have a stroke? Was she imitating Steve Carell in Bruce Almighty? Were we having a “Twin Peaks” dream? Now, Branson describes what happened in her own words. This time in English, please!

Branson said watching herself in the clip is “troubling.”

“I know what was going through my mind at that time,” Branson said. “I was terrified. I was scared, I was confused. I didn’t know what was going on.” [...]

“I knew something wasn’t right as soon as I opened my mouth,” Branson said. “I hadn’t been feeling well a little bit before the live shot. I had a headache, my vision was very blurry. I knew something wasn’t right, but I just thought I was tired. So when I opened my mouth, I thought, ‘This is more than just being tired. Something is terribly wrong.’ I wanted to say, ‘Lady Antebellum swept the Grammys.’ And I could think of the words, but I could not get them coming out properly.” (CBS News)

Elsewhere, her doctor weighed in to inform why she suddenly came off as the Inspector Gadget of speech.

Once [doctors] ruled out stroke, the next step was to look at her medical history and her family history. It turns out Branson had suffered from migraines as a child, but had never had auras before. “That’s typical of migraines,” [Dr. Andrew] Charles said. “Each attack can be slightly different. Some people have auras only occasionally.”

Charles emphasized that Branson “is completely fine now. She has no residual symptoms. I expect this not to be a significant problem for her moving forward.” (LA Times)

It definitely won’t be a significant problem for her moving forward if she switches professions. Might I recommend she become a Professional David Lee Roth impersonator? Hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla boobuhla hummala bebhuhla zeebuhla BOP!!!

Serene Branson is getting a lot of attention today on the internet for this video, which is from local LA coverage of last night's Grammy Awards.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter is now saying Seren Branson didn’t have a stroke, and is feeling fine. Which means this video has gone from “scary” to “hilarious.” Adjust your mood clocks accordingly.

Serene Branson is getting a lot of attention today on the internet for this video, which is from local LA coverage of last night’s Grammy Awards. Many who have seen the video are saying she might have had a stroke, which impacts the speech center of the brain and can cause reactions similar to the one seen here.

I’m not even going to make any jokes because I think this video is legitimately terrifying. I’m also seeing conflicting reports over whether or not she’s in the hospital — hopefully we’ll have an update soon saying she’s OK. (via The Telegraph)
