In attempting to survive the zombie apocalypse, focus is key; distractions can and will prove deadly, followed shortly by undeadly. For the male protagonists of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” Sarah Wayne Callies is going to prove one hell of a distraction. The clear front-runner in the show’s “hottest non-zombie” category, her character is already juggling two gun-slinging beaus, though she doesn’t know it yet. We’ll see how things play out when this love triangle inevitably comes to a head.

A word from Sarah: “I had no idea what I wanted to do after college, but acting seemed like a good start.”

Based on the production stills we’ve seen from Michelle Monaghan’s upcoming film Due Date, it appears she’ll be playing a role best described as “pregnant wife on phone.” With Robert Downey Jr. on the other end of the line, however, those are bound to be some pretty entertaining phone calls. Maybe Zach Galifianakis will even jump into the conversation at one point to make the whole thing a three-way call of weirdness, coolness, and hot-from-the-chest-up-unless-you’re-super-into-pregnant-chicks-for-whatever-reason-ness. We’ll just have to wait and see.

A word from Michelle: “Interview with a Vampire, I loved that!”

In an effort to avoid penning a 700-page dissertation on the specific facets of Cobie Smulders’ infinite hotness, we’ll sum it up like this: Oh my god. Best known as that dorky Canadian newscaster chick from the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” Smulders is set to grace the cover of the December issue of Maxim. And based on a set of prints leaked from the shoot, it looks like that particular issue is going to fly off the rack faster than most. If you want a copy, they’ll all be here at the Screenjunkies office. But you’ll have to fight us with katana swords to get one. We’ve been practicing.

Whitney Able won’t be raking in any significant critical acclaim for her on-screen achievements this year, but she might just make her way into the pretty-girl rankings of some of our favorite lads mags. Cover girl, slasher star, and leading lady in the soon-to-be-released sci-fi thriller Monsters, Able was counted among Maxim’s most beautiful women in 2008. Maybe it’s too early to start the nomination process, but we’ll go ahead and give her our nod for a second appearance now.

At some point in the new Saw flick, Gina Holden will be chained to a giant metal death machine. How she gets there, whether she survives, and how convincingly she plays the nuanced role of “hot girl in mortal peril” remain to be seen. In any case, though, we’re pretty sure she’ll look good doing it.

Here’s one for all you science fiction junkies out there: Elyse Levesque, the face behind space-dwelling heroine Chloe Armstrong of SyFy channel’s “Stargate Universe.” An actress by trade since age 11, Levesque has risen to small-screen prominence over the past year since being cast in the role. And as one of the show’s primary pretty ladies, she has by default become an object of desire for daydreaming “Stargate” fanboys the world around.

“Mad Men” might be over until next year, but fortunately the show’s generous lineup of sweater-clad office vixens is still around to keep us going. Enter Peyton List, the 24-year-old stunner whose depiction of secretary-turned-socialite Jane Siegel became a welcome element in the series midway through season two. A model since age eight, List took a stab at acting with a bit role in an episode of “Sex and the City” back in 2000. Lucky for us, she kept it up. Here’s hoping we’ll see more of Roger Sterling’s young wife in the months ahead.

“Smokeshow” is not a word one typically associates with showtunes, musicals, or Broadway performances. In the case of “Glee” actress Lea Michele, however, we might just have to make an exception. The 23-year-old star of FOX’s hit comedy-drama was always a looker, but after an appearance in a racy GQ photo series this month, she has officially made the transition from “cute girl in your science class” to “oh my god where can I get a copy of that GQ spread.”

A word from Lea: “I don’t consider the sex scene any more challenging or intense or risky than anything anyone else does on the stage.”

She’s so nice we had to do her twice. Being handcuffed and thrown into the back of a cop car wouldn’t be too bad, provided of course that Stana Katic would be the arresting officer. It’s a good bet, in fact, that a significant number of men would go out of their way to break the law in her immediate vicinity, hoping for the chance to have a cup of coffee with her — even if it was being served out of Styrofoam cups in a cramped interrogation room. Until that day, we’ll just have to make do with Katic’s pretend-cop persona in ABC’s “Castle.”

There is something distinctly rustic about Angie Simms. Slender, dark-eyed, and intense, she could easily slip into an American Apparel ad. With only a handful of acting credits to her name, it is unlikely that you’ve seen much of her yet, but a memorable appearance alongside Johnny Knoxville’s wrinkled alter ego in the new Jackass flick might just be her ticket into the limelight.

Shannon Woodward’s resume is a lengthy rundown of TV appearances, recurring characters, pilots, and plays. Best known for her role as the streetwise offspring of two suburban con artists in “The Riches," the 25-year old actress has sinc taken on the guise of Sabrina in Fox’s new single-camera comedy "Raising Hope." An accomplished up-and-comer for sure. Oh, and that smile ain’t half bad either.

With the kind of face that makes you stop, stare, and wonder where the hell you’ve seen her before, Jessica Pare is slowly making waves in the glitz-adorned lap pool that is Hollywoodland. From bit roles in low-budget theatre productions to Candadian film stardom and most recently to Don Draper’s couch in "Mad Men," the Montreal native has run the gamut of the acting world — and she doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

You probably had a childhood crush on Vinessa Shaw when you saw her opposite Rodney Dangerfield and Jonathan Brandis in Ladybugs. Then you probably lost that crush when you saw her get sexually abused by a mutant in The Hills Have Eyes. I gained that crush back seeing her guest star on "House" the other night.

Getting your career started with White Chicks could be the death of some actresses, but for Rochelle Aytes it was only the beginning. While last fall’s canceled "The Forgotten" didn’t make a splash, Rochelle has been able to get a recurring role on "Detroit 1-8-7" before that also gets the canceled notice.

Though you may not know Meta Golding by name, if you are a fan of any popular cop or criminal procedural TV drama of the past decade you know here face. From "CSI" to "Criminal Minds" to "Dark Blue" and now "NCIS: Los Angeles." She’s originally from Haiti and was raised in France, India, and Italy, where she competed as a national ice skater until a major injury ended her career.

A Boston native and graduate of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Daniela Ruah is one tough and rough actress who can take on any method. No wonder she is a regular on the series "NCIS: Los Angeles" with LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell, giving them acting tips on how to re-live each episode as if it was a horrible memory from their childhood.

A word from Daniela: "I’ve been introduced to new skills that I didn’t have and which now I love having and want to continue developing, like shooting and using weapons and the appropriate protocols of gu fighting."

Brittany Daniel we all remember from the horribly apt and now cult classic comedies Joe Dirt and Broken Lizard‘s Club Dread. This past month she came back to Paddy’s Pub in "It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia" as Carmen, the now post-op transexual ex-lover from Mac’s tainted past. From these pictures of Brittany, I can see there is nothing dangling between her legs, but then again you never know till you know.
