Comic-Con 2011: Hot Cosplay Girls (Day 1)

The first day of Comic-Con 2011 isn’t even half over, and I’ve already seen some pretty amazing things. Keep in mind I usually work from home, so actually seeing sunlight and other human beings is pretty amazing, in my opinion.

I’ve seen a life-sized R2D2, Mr. Hulk Hogan, and a guy in a homemade minotaur outfit. And while I could post pictures of all of these things, the fact of the matter is you don’t give a damn. The only Comic-Con related galleries you care to look at involve scantly-clad cosplay girls. Don’t deny it. But don’t worry, the rest will come later.

Well, give the people what they want, that’s what I say. Here’s a gallery of the hottest cosplay babes we’ve seen so far.

Brooklyn Decker

Here’s something you may not have known: Brooklyn Decker looks good in a bikini. What’s more, she seems to wear a bikini pretty much all the time, assuming of course that her magazine spreads are a good indication of her day-to-day fashion choices. It might just be that these magazines request that she wear a bikini for such photo shoots, and that Brooklyn Decker does indeed own a wardrobe consisting of more than just swimwear and lingere, but I’m going to assume that that’s not the case. No, this is a girl who has been wearing nothing but bikinis and underwear for at least the last three years. Oh and guess what she’ll be wearing when she appears in Just Go With It, a movie that appears to take place entirely at a beach. Yup, bikinis.

A word from Brooklyn: “When I was 10, I thought I would be the first lady president, and then on the side I would be an actress, and on the weekends a veterinarian. That was my plan. So, yeah, I had high hopes.”

Elizabeth Mitchell

Best known as the frustratingly mysterious Dr. Juliet Burke from that show about a time-traveling island or whatever, Elizabeth Mitchell is focusing on a more plausible realm of science fiction these days: Aliens. Aliens who are secretly lizards. I’m referring, of course, to the show “V” on ABC, in which Mitchell plays a hard-nosed FBI agent who, no matter how much space-lizard ass she kicks, can’t seem to keep her teenage son in check. Doing the best she can with the show’s frequently-cheesy dialogue and stunning plot holes, Mitchell offers up an entertaining performance each week, shooting things, driving places, and arguing with people in the most captivating manner possible.

Yvonne Strahovski

It’s hard not to fall for Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski‘s character on “Chuck.” Playing a full-time ass-kicking secret agent and part-time hot chick at large, Strahovski steals the show more often than not, injecting each episode with the charm and confidence that comes with being the spy world’s token lady in red. That’s not to say the rest of the show isn’t worth watching — it’s just that it probably wouldn’t be without her.

A word from Sarah: I loved school. I loved putting on my uniform and doing homework every day. I was one of those good students that the teachers liked. I guess that’s got to be a pretty nerdy, geeky part of me.

Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle is one of those names that everyone seems to know but few people seem to know why. After launching her acting career as a child, Belle went on to appear in such notable films as The Lost World: Jurrasic Park, The Patriot, and When a Stranger Calls. At one time she was poised for blockbuster stardom, but a couple of expensive flops, including 10,000 BC and Push appear to have set her back, if only temporarily. Catch her alongside Alexa Vega (the chick from Spy Kids) in From Prada to Nada, opening today.

A word from Camilla: “I don’t think I’m necessarily drawn to dark things. It just seems to work out that way.”

Rachel Melvin

Before her guest spot on “House” earlier this week, Rachel Melvin was a regular on the long-running daytime soap “Days of Our Lives.” That was her first extended gig, a job that Melvin landed a short time after moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Her character having been written out of the series (for now at least), Melvin is branching out into shows that come on after dark, including a brief character arc on “Heros” in 2009 and a pair of back-to-back appearances on “Seven Deadly Sins” last year. Look out for her appearance on “Castle” this Monday.

A word from Rachel: “When you’re an actor you get to be whatever profession you want to be in whatever role you’re playing.”

Natalie Morales

If you watch NBC on Thursday nights you’ve likely seen Natalie Morales deliver a few lines of well-timed sarcasm as Aziz Ansari’s girlfriend on “Parks and Recreation.” Morales, a relative newcomer on the acting scene (her first gig was in 2006), doesn’t have many roles to her name yet, but that hasn’t stopped her from grabbing attention both on and off the screen. She did a brief spot in Oliver Stone‘s not-so-celebrated Wall Street sequel, landed a leading role in the short-lived sci-fi dramedy “The Middlemen” and was featured in Maxim last year.

Valerie Cruz

Before she signed up to play a do-good doctor without borders in “Off the Map,” Valerie Cruz spent some time on the opposite end of the medical spectrum, portraying a not-so-helpful psychologist throughout the first season of “Nip/Tuck.” That role disappeared without a trace (another tragic victim of Chuck Cunningham syndrome) but Cruz went on to appear in such shows as “The Dresden Files,”"Dexter,” and”True Blood.” Does anyone else think she looks like Minnie Driver? But better looking and with a less-stupid name? No doubt.

Sarah Shahi

After a brief career as a beauty queen, a stint as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and a handful of appearances on Maxim’s Hot 100 list, it’s a good bet that Sarah Shahi is perfectly aware of her gauge-busting hotness level. Add to that her status as an up-and-coming actress poised to turn some heads with her new show “Fairly Legal” and you’ve got yourself a damn-near-perfect superwoman geared up and ready to take on the world through sheer force of confidence. Go get ‘em Sarah; we’ll be watching. Not in a creepy way. Okay probably a little bit in a creepy way, but we’ll try to tone it down.

Ophelia Lovibond

Great name? Or the greatest name ever? In any case, Ophelia Lovibond is gaining momentum. Active since 2000, the 24-year-old British actress has been racking up major film appearances recently, the latest of which is a role in the upcoming romantic comedy No Strings Attached. In 2010 she showed up alongside Keira Knightly and Colin Farrell in Lodon Boluevard, and later this year she’ll pair with Jim Carrey for a big-screen adaption of childrens’ literature favorite Mr. Popper’s Penguins.

Meaghan Rath

It’s a shame we don’t have a more established Canadian sitcom following here in the U.S. If we did, we probably would have a seen a lot more of Meaghan Rath before now. The 24-year-old actress, who currently stars in the new SyFy original series”Being Human,” has spent the majority of her career thus far in that strange land to the north. Fortunately for us, the folks at SyFy are savvy enough to know a good Canadian thing when they see one.

A word from Meaghan: “I watched a lot of movies when I was younger and I remember, when I as seven years old, I asked my parents if I could have an agent for Christmas.”

Aimee Garcia

Aimee Garcia is best known for her work on George Lopez‘s eponymous sitcom and the shortlived NBC drama “Trauma.” She’s heading back into the world of medical dramas now, appearing alongside a cast of relative unknonws in the new ABC series “Off the Map.” The show follows a group of doctors who seek out a new start in a remote South American village, and though Garcia isn’t credited as a regular, she’s set to appear in at least five episodes of the series, beginning with this week’s pilot.

A word from Aimee: “I always knew since I was two that I loved this thing called ‘put on a show for the peeps.’”

Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum has been in and out of the spotlight since she first turned heads with her role in Mystic River. After taking on parts in The Day After Tomorrow, Phantom of the Opera, and the less-than-successfull Dragonball: Evolution, Rossum transition to television, appearing alongside William H. Macy in the new Showtime series “Shameless,” which first aired last week. The drama, which follows the plight of a Chicago working class family, is bound to bring show us a new side of Rossum’s acting spectrum. Oh, did I mention she’s cute? Yeah, she’s cute.

Analeigh Tipton

Her role in The Green Hornet may mark her first ever film appearance, but Analeigh Tipton can’t quite be called at unknown. Less than three years ago she was a frontrunner on “America’s Next Top Model,” putting her name on the map and setting herself up for future appearances in film and television. Last year she did a guest spot on CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” and in just a few months she’ll appear alongside Steve Carrell, Julianne Moore, and Ryan Gosling in the comedy flick Crazy, Stupid, Love. Not too shabby for a former figure skater from Sacramento.

Emma Bell

Apparently Emma Bell jives well with horror. Currently portraying a survivor of the zombie apocalypse in AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” Bell will take on the role of Death’s leading female target in the fifth installment of the Final Destination series next year. After she’s done battling the undead and narrowly escaping the omnipresent creepiness of the Grim Reaper, we’re assuming she’ll take on that evil leprechaun dude while evading Jason Voorhees and carrying on a romantic relationship with Freddy Kruger. That’s a total guess, though.

‘Raising Hope’ Actress Bijou Phillips

Bijou Phillips is no stranger to the limelight. The daughter of ’60s folk messiah John Phillips (front man of The Mamas and the Papas for all you musical laymen out there), the young Phillips took up the role of New York City it-girl with all the tabloid-pumping charisma of a fledgling boehmian celebutante. Now an established actress with big-screen cred and a wealth of critical acclaim under her belt, Phillips this year made a pair of impactful guest appearances in Fox’s new Tuesday night sitcom “Raising Hope.”

‘Mad Men’ Actress Peyton List

“Mad Men” might be over until next year, but fortunately the show’s generous lineup of sweater-clad office vixens is still around to keep us going. Enter Peyton List, the 24-year-old stunner whose depiction of secretary-turned-socialite Jane Siegel became a welcome element in the series midway through season two. A model since age eight, List took a stab at acting with a bit role in an episode of “Sex and the City” back in 2000. Lucky for us, she kept it up. Here’s hoping we’ll see more of Roger Sterling’s young wife in the months ahead.

A word from Peyton: “I was on the box art for some young girl-crush kind of board games. It’s embarrassing.”

‘Hereafter’ Actress Mylène Jampanoï

The French are known for many things: their food, their revolution, the unusually short stature of their political leaders, etc. What they’re not known for (not yet anyway) is Mylène Jampanoï. A regular on the French cinematic scene, Jampanoï has yet to achieve namedrop status here in the States. But with a pair of eyes like those, it’s likely she’ll turn more than a few heads this weekend when she makes an appearance as a reporter in director Clint Eastwood’s upcoming supernatural drama Hereafter.
