NBC Gets All Retro, Casting Gillian Anderson In The ‘Hannibal’ Series

It’s looking less and less likely that NBC’s Hannibal series is a joke, as they just keep coming out with casting news, today announcing that Gillian Anderson has joined on for an arc as Hannibal‘s own therapist in the Silence of the Lambs sequel.

Confusing, because the film Hannibal took place AFTER Silence of the Lambs, but recent history indicates that NBC knows exactly what they’re doing and needn’t be questioned by anyone. Not shareholders, not critics…no one.

Anderson joins Hugh Dancy, Eddie Izzard, and sketch comedy alums Molly Shannon and Scott Thompson. I feel the need to remind you that, again, NBC knows exactly what they’re doing, so you can just save your breath, Buster.

X-Files stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are now reportedly totally porkin’ for real. According to the Internet. From Celeb Dirty Laundry (sounds reputable):

Gillian Anderson isn’t wasting any time. Just as news breaks that she’s split from her boyfriend of six years, Mark Griffiths, CDL has learned that she’s living with her X Files co-star David Duchovny in Los Angeles.

A source exclusively told CDL that David and Gillian have been in a serious relationship for some time now and she and her children are shacking up with the Californication actor.

As of right now, we don’t know if this very important people banging news is true or not, but rest assured that the truth is out there. Duchovny is a recovering sex addict and Anderson has gone on record as a fan of sex, so… it could be true. There’s proof below that they’ve been rubbing one another’s butts together since the early 90′s at least.

For whatever reason, the big trend in Hollywood now seems to be zombies in period attire. It started with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and is continuing with The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet, which gets my vote for Most Bizarre Title of the Day, British Category. It’s set to star Ian McKellen and Judi Dench, along with Gillian Anderson and Mark Williams. The movie is based on the director Matthew Butler’s 2010 short film “E’gad Zombies,” which also had an appearance and narration from McKellen. Here’s what it’s about, and if it makes you feel ill, simply retire to your fainting couch:

“The film is set in the 18th century, and follows a struggling poet, William Filthe, in love with an unattainable woman, Vanity Banks, who has to fend off a zombie infestation in their small village of Upper Trollop.”

It’s quite a cast for a movie that came from such humble beginnings. Perhaps this movie will be the thinking man’s answer to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – the Phantom of the Paradise to its Rocky Horror Picture Show, if you will. (Screen Daily)
