East 95th Street Bridge – The Blues Brothers

If you’ve ever sat in wait while a drawbridge raises, you’ve likely felt compelled to floor it and jump the sucker. If not, you’re lying to yourself. The Blues Brothers actually got to give in to this compulsion and take air over the East 95th Street Bridge in Chicago. Next time I’m in Chicago, I’m trying this. I’ll also try a Superdawg.

Chotchkie’s – Office Space

The nightmare of hellish food service chains was perfectly served up by Office Space’s Chotchkie’s. And though it was depicted as a place of misery, it’s also home to some of the movie’s more memorable scenes. Like Lassie, Chotchkie’s is actually a fictional bitch. The real restaurant that subbed for it is the now closed Austin’s Alligator Grill. I guess the loss of Initech really hurt profits.

The Clocktower – Back To The Future

Though the Hill Valley Clock Tower featured in Back to the Future was actually a set built specifically for the movie, fans were welcome to visit it along with other locations from the film at Universal Studios. We’ve almost lost the cherished Clock Tower a few times. Once when lightning hit it in the 1950′s, then again when it was damaged by fire at the theme park in both the 1990′s and 2008. Someone needs to put this thing on 24 hour watch.

I feel so sorry for them.

Janine Melnitz – Ghostbusters

It must take something away from you. Facing your own mortality every single day, and being that close to the other side. In fact, sitting on top of a portal to it. You need to protect yourself and put up defenses as the calls come in and Egon acts as if he doesn’t know you’re alive. Hell, he pays more attention to his ghosts than he does you.

You’re not invisible to me, though. What you don’t realize is that through your tough front, your quiet beauty shines through in pin-hole punctures. It can be seen at the end of a long shift, when your eyes strain and back hurts. Waiting for the cars speeding to the Holland Tunnel to pass while you clutch your coat closed against the cold Tribeca wind; knowing that you’re going home to your small, overpriced Queens apartment and the flatulent cat you inherited when your grandmother was sent to the home. Who will keep you warm, Janine Melnitz?

The re-released version will be digitally enhanced, so take all those memories you have of the original, then make them sharper, crisper, and brighter. That’s what you’re in for.

No release or distribution dates are set yet, so let’s just take the time you would have spent  reading about those and let’s dance to this shit:

Our friends over at Heeb Magazine snagged a nice little interview with director Harold Ramis, and they got some info out of him regarding the progress of Ghostbusters 3:

We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future … GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 … Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans.

Screw the news about the movie, Ramis has Ghostbuster yarmulkes! I’ll be the envy of all my temple..

There have been a lot of rumors lately regarding the development of the latest Ghostbusters film, so let’s just hope Ramis isn’t talking a big game. I want to see all the people in the top picture do the same dance, but each carrying at least 50 more pounds now.
