Thanks to better than expected DVD sales, richy-richerson James Cameron is set to earn $350 million dollars from Avatar. That’s a record breaking number for a director to make from one film, and well over a thousand times more than what a blogger can earn annually for writing pithy articles about movie-making on the Internet. But that doesn’t matter to me. It’s really my passion for Photoshop that keeps me going.

The $350 million figure far outpaces the $97 million that Cameron earned for Titanic. That number will climb, of course, when he re-releases a 3D version of Titanic later this year (after re-releasing Avatar). We need a new term to accurately describe that amount of money. In forty years when we’re all greeting the chubby masses at Wal-Mart because there’s no money left for Social Security payouts, we can at least sleep peacefull knowing that the Twilight leads/murderers are living more than comfortably. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner will be paid $41 million to mumble their way through The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. That breaks down to $25 million upfront plus 7.5 percent of the gross revenue. Multiply that by the fact that the gross is a f*ckload and you’ve got MO’ MONEY! MO’ MONEY!! MO’ MONEY!!! That’s solid arithmetic so don’t even reach for your calculator.

Forbes reports that Simon Cowell is stacking that cheddar, son. Oh sorry. That wasn’t Forbes. That was 4BZ, my rap-loving neighbor. What Forbes actually said is that British grump Simon Cowell is the top-earning man on U.S. television with an estimated income of $75 million dollars last year. WOW.

Coming in second place is Donald Trump with an estimated $50 million. Question. Why can’t the two wealthiest men on television afford a decent haircut? (THR)
