After yesterday’s release of the 2012 Oscar nominations, many felt that actor Andy Serkis was snubbed. His proponents feel that Serkis’ role in Rise of the Planet of the Apes was unjustly passed over by Academy members who don’t fully understand the nuance involved in a motion capture performance. However, some critics maintain that motion-capture roles should not be placed in the same category with traditional performances due to the heavy reliance on CGI technology.

Whichever camp you fall into, there is one thing on which we can all agree: While performing, Andy Serkis looks like a huge jagoff.

I get it. It comes with the territory. You can’t play a convincing ape without acting like a stupid monkey. And his results on screen speak for themselves. But it doesn’t change the fact that a man hopping around in a “Green Man” outfit with a bunch of pins stuck to his face looks like a fool. We have our first picture of Daniel Day-Lewis as President Abe Lincoln. And after comparing it to this penny I found on the men‘s room floor, I have to say he really looks the part. That bodes well for Steven Spielberg, who is currently directing Lincoln in Virginia. But I have to wonder if this early buzz is really going to matter, considering we all know the ending: He gets his head blown off! I apologize if I’ve spoiled the film for any recent immigrants.

At any rate, since we all know the ending, maybe Spielberg should consider spicing it up a bit? Here are 9 suggestions. You’re welcome.

If ‘Twilight’ Characters Were Real People (Gallery)

With only hours to go before The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 hits theaters, millions of young girls and probably a few very creepy old men can barely contain their excitement. Once again, fans will be thrust into the supernatural world inhabited by vampires, werewolves, and mummies (I made that last one up, but I really want to see an angst-filled teen mummy).

But sadly, much like a female orgasm, the world of Twilight is purely fiction. And while I can’t bring fans into the world of Twilight, I might just be able to bring Twilight into the real world. Using a high-powered photo-rendering program known as “Photoshop,” I created (or “shopped”) these 100% accurate depictions of what your favorite Twilight characters would look like in real life. Hopefully, in some small way, this will help fans hang on until the next installment.

So in its honor, we’ve put together this gallery of 45 fan-made tributes. After all, while the All Terrai Armored Transport might be highly impracticable and extremely vulnerable to all but a frontal assault, the important thing is that it looks totally bad ass. The Best Of The Spider-Man Meme

Lately, there’s been a lot of talk about the Broadway premiere of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark as well as the upcomin Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. We’re not big into non-South Park related musicals, and the reboot doesn’t come out until 2012. But rather than sit around “slinging webs” while I wait, I’ve compiled 20 of the best pictures from the Spider-Man Meme, which grew out of still taken from the 1960’s Spider-Man cartoon. All and all, I think this meme is a vast improvement over the original series, and to be honest, it’s probably more entertaining than Spider-Man 3. Enjoy.

Gina Carano Just Beating The Hell Out Of People In ‘Haywire’

There is no shame in getting the crap beaten out of you by MMA star Gina Carano, even if you’re a dude. So don’t feel too bad, Ewan.

One would be rightfully skeptical of a “serious” thriller featuring an MMA star, but Haywire director Steven Soderbergh has managed to get winning performances out of porn stars and Topher Grace, so don’t be so quick to discount this film. In case you’re still sour on the idea, perhaps a supporting cast of Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano, Matthieu Kassovitz and Antonio Banderas will put your mind at ease.

Haywire revolves around Carano’s character, a black ops soldier who finds out she’s been double-crossed, then goes around beating the hell out of people until something gives. It appears to be Ewan McGregor’s turn to pay the fiddler in these stills. Actually the script by Lem Dobbs is thought to be quite sharp, so just consider the ass-kickings a bonus.

Still, those legs could dropkick a small car. (Playlist)

Olivia Wilde Looks Regal, Kinky In Disney Photo Campaign

In part of an ongoing campaign recreating storied Disney characters and scenes with famous Hollywood stars (and Roger Federer, for reasons unknown), Disney has done what every other entity does when it wants attention – call Olivia Wilde.

In the latest installment, Olivia is decked out as the Evil Queen from Snow White, being validated by none other than Alec Baldwin, who probably stares at Olivia Wilde in real life, too.

Less exciting entries in this installment of the campaign include Queen Latifah as Ursula from The Little Mermaid, and Penelope Cruz and Jeff Bridges as Beauty and the Beast, which I feel is really selling Mr. Bridges short in the looks department.
