Funny Or Die Gets Deal To Bring You A Ton Of Movies

Funny or Die has become a pretty powerful brand in the realm of comedy, having made inroads into the Apatow actor network, online comedy, and even bizarre indie filmmaking with Tim and Eric’s Billion-Dollar Movie last year.

The brand has teamed up with Scott studios to crank out features on the reg, with their offerings bifurcated between microbudget films and comedies costing over $25 million. So if your film is projected to cost $18 million, take that shit to Weinstein, ’cause Funny or Die don’t want it.

While branded film comedy is well-worn territory thanks to National Lampoon, audiences can only hope that Funny or Die sets its sights a little higher, though if the brand is able to crank out early fare like the Vacation series, I don’t think anyone will mind.

I thought the gags in Bridesmaids, gross-out and otherwise, were hilarious. However, I lost interest during the (endless) 45 minute Kristen Wiig pity party. “Boo hoo, I won’t call the guy I like.” Just keep the joke-em-ups coming, please.

You remember that Ridley Scott Monopoly movie project? The one I’m sure you’re way more excited about than Prometheus? Well, like an actual game of Monopoly, that thing’s taking forever to complete. So the above trailer is the next best thing.

Or rather, the above trailer is almost certainly better than what the real Monopoly movie, because it’s only 2 minutes long. “Monopoly – Official Trailer” is a high-production-values-for-sketch-comedy video from the group Half Day Today, featured on Funny Or Die. It’s got everything: money, power, sex by way of the Community Chest, a foot token rich with symbolism, and that asshole Uncle Pennybags.

So hold onto your silver hat, collect your 200 whim-whams and enjoy Monopoly: The Major Motion Picture. Hopefully, they’ll also make an IMAX version.

After 2 Million “Rush” Jokes, Segel And Rudd Are Allowed To Meet The Band

Watching I Love You, Man, which was released in Russia under the title Two Closeted Gay Men Talk About Rush, really makes you wonder: what would happen if these two characters who won’t shut up about Rush finally meet Rush? Now Funny Or Die has given us the answer. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel‘s characters from the film meet their 80s band super-idols in this viral video quasi-sequel, which will hopefully serve as the actual sequel.

In the video, Segel gets Rudd backstage passes to the local Rush concert and backstage shenanigans occur. A sandwich is eaten peculiarly, there’s some mandatory ‘awkward tension’ and an admittedly cool-looking double guitar plays a key role. Also, some bittersweet news: “totes magotes” is spoken in the video, but not “Dude Von Dudenstein,” “Sweet Sweet Hangin,” and sadly, not one squiznot was popped for the entire 5:50 minutes. All you squiznot poppers out there will just have to keep writing that line into your I Love You, Man slash fiction. (/Film)
