East 95th Street Bridge – The Blues Brothers

If you’ve ever sat in wait while a drawbridge raises, you’ve likely felt compelled to floor it and jump the sucker. If not, you’re lying to yourself. The Blues Brothers actually got to give in to this compulsion and take air over the East 95th Street Bridge in Chicago. Next time I’m in Chicago, I’m trying this. I’ll also try a Superdawg.

Chotchkie’s – Office Space

The nightmare of hellish food service chains was perfectly served up by Office Space’s Chotchkie’s. And though it was depicted as a place of misery, it’s also home to some of the movie’s more memorable scenes. Like Lassie, Chotchkie’s is actually a fictional bitch. The real restaurant that subbed for it is the now closed Austin’s Alligator Grill. I guess the loss of Initech really hurt profits.

The Clocktower – Back To The Future

Though the Hill Valley Clock Tower featured in Back to the Future was actually a set built specifically for the movie, fans were welcome to visit it along with other locations from the film at Universal Studios. We’ve almost lost the cherished Clock Tower a few times. Once when lightning hit it in the 1950′s, then again when it was damaged by fire at the theme park in both the 1990′s and 2008. Someone needs to put this thing on 24 hour watch.

Ignoring Locals

If you’re new to an area, it’s common practice to ask a local which restaurant or bar they recommend. So why would you ignore them when they warn you not to go into the woods? Granted, they are sometimes vague with their warnings, but if I stop in at a diner and a slack-jawed yokel warns me to stay away from Camp Blood because “it’s HIS camp,” and folks go missing there, I’m inclined to listen. Sorry, gang. Camping trip’s over. Let’s backtrack to that Dave & Buster’s we passed.

Getting Wasted

Camping wouldn’t be half as much fun without drugs and alcohol. But these need to be enjoyed in moderation. You need to keep your wits about you. What if a wolf or bear or hockey mask-adorned living corpse were to attack your campsite? What then? No great escape was ever made by running in a wobbly line.

Reunited and it feels so good.

Last we heard from Brad Fuller, he and Platinum Dunes were not sure what was going to happen with Friday the 13th 2: The Squeakquel. Yesterday on Twitter Fuller announced, "it is dead – not happening." No further explanation was provided as Fuller chose to not use his remaining 113 characters, but it can be assumed this stems from Platinum Dunes’s desire to move away from the horror genre.

Still, it comes as a surprise though considering the cash the remake raked in. And it’s strange to think of a world without a never-ending string of Friday the 13th sequels. They’ve been a part of life as long as I can remember. Like my effeminate throwing ability and the constant taunting from my peers. (Bloody Disgusting)

Hollywood has made a habit of remaking foreign horror films these last few years. Studios have searched the corners of the globe to make movies such as The Ring, Quarantine, and Let Me In. But there is one nation that has been left unexplored — Canada. I’ve stumbled upon the trailer for a Canadian horror film so ghastly and terrifying that it will make you LOSE. YOUR. MIND. There’s no release date yet for this northern gem but I’m sure it’s going to be packed full of either sh*t or danger. My gut is tellin’ me danger.
