In case you were wondering what the most trite, hackneyed, banal, overused, cliche slogan a politician could use is…it’s Friday Night Lights‘ “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.”

I guess this means that if Romney loses, it’s simply due to the fact that his eyes and heart were not as clear or full as he would have hoped. A sobering thought.

Berg calls out Romney for being unoriginal and having values quite different from those depicted on the show. (Would Obama have better-aligned values? What about W.?) Berg is about as gracious as one could be in a cease-and-desist letter, but the barbs are clearly there. Anytime you compare someone to Buddy Garrity…it’s not a compliment.

Berg’s letter to Mitt Romney (which sounds like kind of an FNL name anyway) can be found here, with The Hollywood Reporter’s godforsaken logo all over it, forcing us to acknowledge that, yes, we are aware you got the letter first.  THR needs to constantly be validated or it just breaks down. Really a high-maintenance outlet, that one.

I would give forty-two Black Eyed Peas for one Wyld Stallyns. And unless I’m off-base, I think many Screen Junkies readers would, too. Sure, some of these bands are pretty ridiculous, but look me in the eye and tell me they’re not all sixty-two times better and more interesting than Mumford and Sons.

God, I hate Mumford and Sons.

8. Dr. Funke’s 100 Percent Natural Good-Time Family Band Solution – Arrested Development

Sure, they’re misguided corporate whores, but who wouldn’t pay $20 bucks to go see these guys live and witness the train wreck that is Tobias Funke’s onstage banter. I mean, Amy Poehler is a huge fan, and who doesn’t love Amy Poehler?

7. Hey That’s My Bike – Reality Bites

This Ethan Hawke-fronted band certainly has the most indie cred of any band on this list. He did the whole brooding joyless musician thing before even Cobain did it, and I could totally see a generation of Williamsburg hipster fans, even today, calling themselves “Hey That’s My Bike-ers.”

Or Hawke’s Troy Dyer could just be a slightly earlier incarnation of that asshat Jared Leto. Whatevs.

The twisty story all started to unravel itself Thursday, when Grantland.com editor in chief Bill Simmons tweeted that, “Peter Berg told us he wants to do an FNL movie with Chandler/Britton off the final episode.” After that, multiple sources told me it’s no pipe dream. Berg, who directed the original feature and shepherded the NBC series with exec producer Jason Katims, is working behind the scenes to make it a reality. (TV Line)

So as of right now, Peter Berg wants to make the movie. In the same way that Ron Howard wants to make an Arrested Development movie, and the way the cast of Party Down would like to make a movie. Until there’s a commitment, nothing is certain. Come on Universal, if you like it. Put a ring on it.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Award Nominations were announced this morning with "Glee" leading the pack with 19 noms, and Sofia Vergara presenting the nominees with heaving bosoms. Emmy is obviously with Coco, as O’Brien’s "Tonight Show" was nominated while Leno’s was not. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton were justly recognized for their work on "Friday Night Lights" but will have stiff competition going up against "Breaking Bad’s" Bryan Cranston and "The Good Wife’s" Julianna Margulies.

Notable snubs are Ed O’Neill, "Community," and Charlie Sheen for his work on "Two And A Half Men." That man has done so much for comedy and sports car driven into ravine removal, and deserves so much more. Oh, so much more.

Like everyone else in America, I’ve always had to endure the boastful claims of the state of Texas. From the "Don’t Mess with Texas" slogan to awful Dallas Cowboys fans to the "Steers and Queers" line in Full Metal Jacket, Texans always seem to walk around like their poo-poos don’t stink. Well guess what, Tex; you’re not so tough after all!

Cinemark has pulled the trailer for Paramount’s "Paranormal Activity 2" from several theaters in Texas after receiving numerous complaints that the promo was "too" frightening.

Well look at the scared little state of Texas pissing itself in the corner over a cheesy horror movie trailer. Pathetic. Why don’t you run home to your "Friday Night Lights" and your "Austin City Limits," ya pansies! (Variety)

Jurnee Smollett began her career as a child model and landed recurring roles on both “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper” and “Full House” before co-starring with her siblings in the sitcom “On Our Own.” The Smolletts wanted to be the next Jacksons, but it didn’t happen. Lately, Jurnee starred in the Denzel Washington directed The Great Debaters and is currently Landry’s budding love interest on”Friday Night Lights.”

A word from Jurnee: “There is crying and pain going on. There’s a whole population screaming out and no one is listening.”

Wow, way to be a buzz kill. Can’t we just talk about Justin Bieber‘s stupid haircut or something?

The long-suffering fans of Friday Night Lights would be wise to stiffen their upper-lips while reading this next piece of news. Kyle Chandler is said to be in talks to star in a new pilot for Steven Spielberg and Fox, all but guaranteeing the cult favorite will not survive its current season. But whatever, let’s look to the future. Or in this case, to the future and then to the past.

In Terra Nova, Chandler will play to his non-football coaching strengths to play a patriarch who travels through time (much like he did in "Early Edition") and get chased by dinosaurs (much like he did in King Kong). But this family from the future warped to prehistoric times sounds familiar. Where have I seen this Space Age meets the Stone Age concept before? (EW)
