The League is on its way back to FX, so I hope you’re ready to watch a bunch of bros who play fantasy football, bang each other’s girlfriends, crack wise, etc. Here are a couple of new promo clips for the show, one of which is a little more illuminating than the other. Check out the clip below for a glimpse at a very special guest star for this season, which premieres on Thursday, October 6, at 10:30 PM ET/PT. No, it’s not the voice of Space Ghost George Lowe, although I’m always happy to hear him getting voice over work. It’s none other than America’s Favorite Movie Star, Seth Rogen! Enjoy.

Chief among them: David Koechner enjoying reverse cowgirl while dressed like a sea captain. This shorter look leans more heavily on Seth Rogen to make light of Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s cancer like any good friend would. Though as evidenced here, using cancer to pick up chicks isn’t as foolproof as it sounds. It’s cancer. Not a puppy.

50/50 opens in theaters on September 30th and also stars Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Phillip Baker Hall, and Angelica Houston.

I find the idea of Kevin Spacey being forced to work at a Wal-Mart very soothing and nice.

The film opens with a familiar sight: Kevin Spacey being a sleazy salesman. However, as the trailer for Father of Invention moves along, it confuses the viewer by showing us a Spacey that doesn’t seem to hate other people or himself. He’s kind of an okay guy.

We watch Spacey’s inventor character fall from grace, only to be released from prison ten years later to pick up the pieces with his career, wife, and daughter. Also, he gets yelled at by his boss at Wal-Mart, Johnny Knoxville.

The trailer manages to walk the line between heartwarming and saccharine pretty well, and it even humanizes Kevin Spacey. So it does the impossible twice. Way to go, director Trent Cooper. Way to go, EVERYONE.

post-album postid=”212009″ item=”1″]Poor Taylor Lautner. One day he’s a misunderstood werewolf with chipmunk teeth, the next day he’s finding out that the people that have been raising him aren’t his parents. And to add insult to injury, he still has those chipmunk teeth.

This Abduction trailer has us running and hiding with Lautner as he tries to piece together who those people were and why they’re now dead. It would be dismissive and easy to call this a “Bourne for the Twilight set,” which is exactly why I’m so comfortable calling this film a “Bourne for the Twilight set.”

John Singleton appears to have done a decent job with the action here, which leaves the acting in the very capable hands of Lautner. *Trying hard not to giggle*

Until now.

The Hollywood Reporter lived up to their name today with an in-depth article revealing that Darabont was actually fired by AMC and that the cast have been instructed to remain silent about the matter. Unless they want to be eaten by an extra.

There also have been no public comments from the cast, and a source with knowledge of the situation says AMC has been “terrorizing” them and their representatives to discourage them from speaking out on Darabont’s behalf. “They’re scared,” confirms another insider. “They’re on a zombie show. They are all really easy to kill off.”

Wow. AMC is really getting a reputation for being villainous and ruthless in their negotiations. Now it makes sense that they have to keep replacing the kid who plays Bobby on Mad Men.

It’s the full-length trailer for Drake Doremus’s Like Crazy, and this time the actors actually annunciate their dialogue. Now it all makes sense. Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones play a young couple split apart by the Atlantic Ocean when her visa expires. When I watched the mumbly teaser, I had thought it was a Die Hard sequel. I find it important that this new trailer clarified.

Dexter finds God... and a new showrunner.

So far the looks we’ve had at <a href="http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/Dexter-going-back-to-the-basics/” target=”_blank”>Dexter‘s sixth season have been a promising relief compared to last season’s meh-ness. The trailer was pretty awesome and who doesn’t love Edward James Olmos?

Today we have a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming season in advance of the October 2nd premiere. Looks like business as usual at Miami Metro – a dead body ends up on the beach and that somehow lead Dexter to a coalition of killers. But this time they’re murdering in the name of God, not in the name of “Hey, this will feel cool.”

The cast and crew are promising this will be the biggest and weirdest season yet, with the previously established rules poked right in the eye. Does that mean that the Batista and LaGuerta storyline will suddenly make sense and be interesting? I’m not ready for that.

They are a must every single fall season.

Every TV season promises us a new slew of crim fighting shows, and this one is no different. This year, a couple of them have fantastical twists, while the other half are remakes of older shows. There are some name actors and creators behind them, so it’s a tight race.

WATCH IT:

Prime Suspect (NBC), Premieres Thursday, 9/22 at 10 pm (ET)

The original was a great British series starring Helen Mirren, and this version wins out over the rest because it appears to have some legs to it. No, I’m not referring to the legs of Maria Bello, who plays the lead, although her legs are worth watching. The “legs” here is the depth and longevity you want in a series.

Bello is a homicide detective that doesn’t get many breaks because she’s surrounded by male cops. She’s also good at what she does, or so the trailer says. This one does look to have some grittiness to it, as well as some decent acting and well written scenes if you’re into that sort of thing. NBC worked with Peter Berg on the acclaimed Friday Night Lights and he’s working on this show, too, so that’s a bonus.

SKIP IT:

Unforgettable (CBS), Premieres Tuesday, 9/20 at 10 pm (ET)

This is a perfect show for CBS. It’s a procedural with dangling backstories, uses edit trickery to hammer the evidence home to the viewer, and has the latest Top 40 ballad pounding during reflective ‘character moments’. Some people love this sort of show, like my grandmother, but I’m not going to bother.

If you are still interested after my hard sell, the series is about a woman with hyperthymesia, which means she remembers every detail of pretty much everything. Except — the big twist! — she can’t remember what happened when her sister was murdered years before. Her ex-partner/lover, played by Dylan Walsh, comes around to ask her to help with cases because she’s got such a crazy brain. And then every episode will be the exact same for all of eternity.

THE REST:

Person of Interest (CBS), Premieres Thursday, 9/22 at 9 pm (ET)

This show should have been a better competitor for the top spot in this category. It was created by Jonah Nolan, brother of Christopher Nolan and co-writer of the Batman flicks, J.J. Abrams is executive producing, and Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson from Lost are starring. But it just doesn’t blend all of these elements into a great show. This semi-okay show is about a guy that has created a social security number-based system to learn about people that are going to be involved in some sort of crime before it happens, pretty much like Minority Report. And Caviezel teams up with him to stop the badness from happening. Ho hum.

Charlie’s Angels (ABC), Premieres Thursday, 9/22 at 8 pm

Look, I can come up with many reasons to watch this show. Namely Minka Kelly, Rachel Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh. They’re hot, they shoot guns and blow things up. It’s a retooling of the campy, but great 70’s version but isn’t high quality viewing, but I have low TV morals, so I’ll give it at least one viewing.

Nucky Thompson gets swarmed with people like he's Hannah Montana up in this piece.

While I’m not sure this qualifies as a “teaser,” the newest Boardwalk Empire promo from HBO certainly doesn’t offer us too much in the way of plot development that we couldn’t already assume on our own: Nucky struts down the street like he owns the place because he sorta does, however the mood quickly goes from jovial to abject dread, as he crosses paths with well-wishers and sketchballs alike before meeting the gaze of Ms. Schroeder.

We’re reacquainted with most every player in the story, as most of them lived though the first season, but I get the feeling that not everyone is long for this world. This being a cable drama, everyone has their favorite character, and I gotta say that mine is Chalky White. You take Omar from The Wire and dress him up like Andre 3000. Anyone who doesn’t like that can get the hell out of my country.

HBO takes us back to AC on September 25th. Hopefully the painfully deliberate pacing will pay off out of the gate.

Networks are taking a chance on fairy tales this year. Will their wishes for viewers come true?

We’ve covered guys sitcoms and girls sitcoms, now let’s take a glance at something different. And for TV, this is something quite different. The TV powers must be looking to cash in on the recent wave of fairy tale-related material in production for the big screen, because they have scheduled two such shows to air this fall.

Both shows mix fairy tale shenanigans into a contemporary setting and the result is a world in which every nerd wants to live.

WATCH IT:

Once Upon a Time (ABC), Premieres Sunday, 10/23 at 8 pm (ET)

This show gets the nod for a few reasons. 1) The preview is better 2) Ginnifer Goodwin is in it and we’ve seen her naked on Big Love 3) Jennifer Morrison is the lead and is kinda’ hot; 4) Some of the writers from Lost are behind the show.

The story is about a woman who comes to the small town of Storybrooke and soon finds out that fairy tales and all their magic are actually happening for real and she has a connection to all of it. Seems a little dorky, but the preview promises enough geek thrills — like a horse drawn carriage racing through a creepy forrest — to beg for a watch or two. And who knows, it might shape up to be a guilty pleasure you can record and watch when your girlfriend is at work. Don’t laugh, I’ve done that sort of thing more than once.

SKIP IT:

Grimm (NBC), Premieres Friday, 10/21 at 9 pm (ET)

Grimm debuts two days before Once Upon a Time, but it’s a Friday show and you all know what I think about Friday primetime shows (hint: they suck). The preview is dark and ominous but lacks name actors like its competitor — I forgot to mention that the uber-cool Robert Carlyle is also in Once Upon a Time — and also has a weaker premise. Yes. A weaker fairy tale premise than the other show about fairy tales.

This one’s about a detective that begins to have visions and discovers that he’s one of the last Grimms of the famou Grimm family. All the visions turn out to be true, like the man that morphs into a wolf and goes after the female jogger in the woods that happens to be wearing a red jacket with a hood. Subtle stuff like that. This show will probably do okay with the Buffy crowd because they share the same executive producers and have a similar feel. But I say if you only have time for one fairy tale show this year, this shouldn’t be the one to make time for. Trust me. I’m a friend.

No, the U.S. Capitol Building hasn’t been laser-raped by an out-of-control storm system. Rather, William Shakespeare has been lying to you. To all of us. What the movie proposes is that the Bard of Avon never wrote a word.

From the looks of this new trailer, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy looks like it will be this year’s best film about British guys not trusting one another.

The earlier teaser focused on Cumberbatch’s character whereas this one centers more on Tom Hardy, who first learns of the double-agent and brings the information to the organization. But can he be trusted? I say just fire the whole lot of them.

“That show and this show are completely different DNA,” King said. “Everyone is saying that there are so many girl shows, like they’re all the same show. Whenever there’s a character in a book that’s female, they call it chic lit. 2 Broke Girls is like the evil twin of chick lit.”

Max (Dennings) and Caroline (Behrs) should be girls who guys like. They won’t be obsessing over designer brands or dream weddings. “Carrie Bradshaw in her closet was Narnia. We played with reality fantasy. Those girls had relationship checklists. These girls barely have checks.”

Caroline is a former rich girl whose father got caught in a ponzi scheme, so the family lost everything. King pointed out that just specifying dollar amounts makes 2 Broke Girls kind of a TV first.

“We also liked the scary dynamic of talking about money on TV. There’s rarely sitcoms where they say what something costs, including the rent. The artifice of doing a show in front of an audience is already false enough because you never even turn around. The idea that we would try to do that show and actually deal with rent and numbers and say numbers [is realistic].”

2 Broke Girls premieres this fall on CBS.

In the future, science has stopped the gene for aging. However, you don’t live past twenty-five years old unless you’re able to earn more time as it has become the chief currency.
In Time stars Justin Timberlake as a man on the run after he inherits a century. Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Vincent Kartheiser, and Alex Pettyfer are also on hand to eternally attractive.

He's rich and broken-hearted.

At the beginning of today’s CBS day for the Television Critics Association press tour, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler answered questions about Two and a Half Men, Ashton Kutcher and, sort of, Charlie Sheen.

“Who could have predicted that we would have been here six months ago?” Tassler said. “The great news is that the show will be as irreverent as it has always been. Our program practices people are already on high alert. That’s some of the good news coming out of it.”

By irreverent, read more sexual innuendos. She would not confirm the season premiere would be Charlie’s funeral, but introduced Kutcher’s character. “His name is Walden Schmidt and he is an Internet billionaire with a broken heart and it will be a two-parter over two weeks. A little bit of the mystery is part of the marketing, but he is a unique character. As we said in the marketing plan, all will be revealed on X date. The mystery is a part of the marketing. It’s going to be a big event. The chatter and the conversation and the discussion about it is part of what the fun of it can be.”

When asked what she learned from the Charlie Sheen situation, and the suggestion that many people would have predicted his meltdown six months ago, Tassler spun it into a positive future.

“We look at where we are today. I look at where we were six months ago. Our whole focus right now is moving forward. We have an extraordinary actor in Ashton Kutcher. We have someone who is committed to doing their job, to being there, an incredible professional. So as I said, six months ago today, we’re worlds apart. We made the decision, everyone made the decisions relative to the situation at hand.”

Asked if the Sheen situation would change CBS’s casting practices when considering actors with potential issues, Tassler responded, “That would probably be every actor in the business so it would be kind of hard. I don’t think we would change the practice with which we hire actors now. It’s an artistic creative process. You have actors audition. It’s professional, so I don’t think it would change the way we employ actors.”

She plays a publicist with a dead fiancé opposite Hank Azaria.

NBC’s new fall comedy Free Agents stars Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn as colleagues at a PR firm who sleep together. Alex (Azaria) is fresh off his divorce and still cries over being separated from his kids. Helen’s (Hahn) fiancé Pete died a year ago and she still keeps portraits of him all over her house. A the office everyone wants Alex to score, even when they don’t know he already did with Helen… twice.

I ran into Hahn at the NBC party for the Television Critics Association. I’d seen the Agents pilot so I knew about a bravura scene where Helen finally destroys all her Pete paintings, but I also knew her from films like Anchorman, The Last Mimzy and Our Idiot Brother. She was the perfect mix of scoop and having fun with her crazy show coming out this fall.

Q: What do you get to do with a leading role?

Kathryn Hahn: Well, what I’m thrilled about doing this leading role in particular is that she’s not your typical [leading lady]. She’s really well put together but she’s not the straight woman. She’s not the glamorous straight woman to the guy’s shenanigans. She’s equally a disaster, emotionally and in her personal life.

Q: Like with the paintings in the pilot.

KH: She’s crazy. Oh my God, she’s nuts. What I love about it is that she really is in total denial about the wreckage of her personal life. She thinks she’s got it together. What I love about it is when you meet her at the end of the pilot, she’s actually kind of starting to awaken to that. It’s going to be fun to see where she goes. That’s where I love to be, a little bit left of center. I can’t be a polished girl all the time. I love the women on the verge.

Q: Isn’t the totally polished girl the weird one?

KH: Yes, because who is that person? Where does she exist? This person is so much more real to me. As extreme as her circumstance is, she’s totally in denial, which I think a lot of women can relate to.

Q: How many paintings did you go through in that scene?

KH: 22. I love that they all look like they were from Olan Mills.

Q: How do you top the pilot moving forward?

KH: I feel like we get to see the power dynamics shift back and forth. Sometimes she has the upper hand. Sometimes he does. He might start dating. I think what’s great about the foundation of the show is that it’s not really a romantic comedy as much as it is a workplace comedy. I feel like will they or won’t they won’t be as important as watching the relationships within the office.

Q: As far as emotional/violent scenes, how do you top the paintings?

KH: I have not read it yet but I know where some things go. She’s still working through Pete so she is going to start to see him and other people, date somebody that reminds her of him. She’s going to start dating a therapist. She’s a mess. She thought she had the perfect life in place and when her fiancé died it all fell apart.

Q: Was there a lot of discussion of how much time had passed so a dead fiancé would be funny? Less than a year is still sad.

KH: Right, there was a lot of discussion and we figured a year was kind of perfect. It was just about the time other people would start saying, “Maybe you can date other [people].” I think there’s just a perfect amount of time for her to think, “Maybe I should take down a few of these 22 photographs on the wall.”

Q: Is there a line you won’t cross in comedy?

KH: If it’s mean. I don’t like mean humor. I just don’t like being mean. Beyond that, there’s very few.

Q: Is there a lot of Kathryn Hahn we haven’t gotten to see yet because you haven’t had a vehicle like this?

KH: I think this is exciting because a lot of the roles I’ve been able to book in films have been pretty broad and have been able to exist kind of on the outskirts of society shall we say. They’re a little bit crazy so there’s something about this. I think this kind of vulnerability, I don’t want to say a real woman because they’re all real to me, but there’s a vulnerability in her that I’m excited [to play]. I went to Yale. It’s funny, I didn’t just start in comedy.

Free Agents premieres this fall on NBC.

Jim buckles down to impress Robert California.

At the NBC party for the Television Critics Association, I noticed the office’s John Krasinski stepping off the red carpet to go enjoy a drink and some gourmet cuisine. I managed to stop him for an exclusive interview before any of my colleagues found him.

Now I’m sure you’re expecting me to goof around and be funny with the smart alec from the hit NBC comedy. Well, I’m not an A-list TV comedy writer, so get off my back! I went the straightforward path and got some scoops on season eight and spoilers for Jim’s storylines.

Q: What is the new dynamic like with James Spader?

John Krasinski: Spader is unbelievable. I’ve been the biggest James Spader fan forever. To have him on set is a huge, huge coup for the show but also for me. I’m just really excited because his energy as a character is unlike anything we’ve ever had on the show.

Q: Is it different than we saw in the season finale?

JK: Not really. It’s a similar episode. He’s definitely that guy. He’s incredibly competent. We offered him a boss position and he wanted the CEO position and he got it. That’s how incredibly persuasive he is. Robert California, which I think is one of the greatest names and funniest characters ever.

Q: Michael Scott always wanted to be your friend as well as your boss. How does it change everything when you have a guy who’s not trying to do that?

JK: It’s really interesting. I feel like we’re definitely all inferior to James’ character and I think he very much knows that. He puts us on the spot immediately for being not so good at what we do which is weirdly incredibly motivating. We get to be a lot better very fast.

Q: What’s going on with Jim and Pam?

JK: Pam’s pregnant. Jenna, her commitment level is so high to get pregnant for this part. No, Pam’s pregnant and Jim’s finding it a lot more fun to be at work and just providing for his family. He starts to feel like with the office being run a little more efficiently he can have a lot more fun himself.

Q: Do you have scenes with different characters than you’ve had in the past?

JK: Yes, I will definitely start having different [scenes]. I know that I have a lot of fun stuff with Andy who needs my help in different ways, shapes and forms. I have a lot of stuff with Kevin, which is great. It feels a lot like the first couple seasons where just inter-office relationships are the thing that was so fun.

Q: Were you ever a guy who messed with people at work?

JK: No, I was never clever enough to do any sort of pranks whatsoever.

Q: How will Jim be messing with Dwight this season?

JK: We have a whole bunch of different pranks. One of my favorite ones will be at Schrute farms.

Q: One of my favorite episodes was when Jim started taking over a management position and started to tone it down, nobody liked him. He was trying to be fair and it just didn’t work. What were your thoughts on that storyline?

JK: I don’t think Jim was made for the leadership role. I think he’s a really good middleman and he’s a good cushion and filter for the rest of the office. I don’t see him running the office any time soon.

Q: Do we need a guy like Jim to take the bosses down a peg?

JK: I hope so, that way I’ll have a job.

Q: When you do movies, are they pegging you as the rom-com guy, or the male friend in the rom-com?

JK: I don’t think so, I hope not. I feel like right now, it’s just been a lot of fun to work on projects at all in the hiatus. It’s a short little window and I’ve been really lucky to be a part of some great movies.

The Office returns to NBC this fall.

You're not going to get them.

7 photosAlison Brie

Alison Brie touched my leg. She is such a gracious, affectionate person that when I sat down to speak with her at the NBC Television Critics Association party, that’s just something two adults do when they’re connecting over conversation. So yeah, my dream girl touched my leg.

Annie became a fan favorite character on Community. When she kissed Jeff (Joel McHale) in the first season finale, she had Jeff/Annie shippers rooting for her. She’s gotten dramatic when Troy (Donald Glover) walked her home and turned full on action babe in the paintball episodes.

Brie was wearing a leggy white skirt and black heels for the NBC party, with her hair done up all cute. Even with costars like Chevy Chase coming over to give her a kiss, she gave me her complete attention.

Q: I get such a happy feeling when I watch you on Community because I feel like you are just going all out to make us happy, whether it’s playing Annie as her nervous self or sexing it up as the gunfighting paintballer.

Alison Brie: Thank you for saying that. I think Annie as a character is someone who throws herself into whatever she’s doing and that’s why she’s fun to play. I gues I am that way as well, so whatever they throw at me on the show, I really want to do it 100% and go all the way. That’s kind of what’s great about our show, that we’re not locked into one thing and our character doesn’t stay the same all the time. You get these different outlets to play a sexier version of the character or a more neurotic version of the character.

Q: Well, original Annie is no less sexy.

AB: [Laugh] Thank you. Well, good. It’s just a lot of fun. I find it more fun to go all out with it so I’m glad that you enjoy watching that as well.

The Donald Glover Meltdown Supercut

Q: What do you get to do in season three?

AB: Well, we just started so it’s early on. I think we’re going to see a little bit more of the badass side of Annie. We might get some darker sides of her, some bits of her drug-addled past and how that is affecting her still. She may have some darker Adderall moments maybe surface.

Q: Is this all in the first episode?

AB: No, no, it’s not. I’m giving you secrets. I’m giving you scoop. There’s some good stuff for shippers, shippers of any kind. We’re two episodes in and I already feel like Annie’s having moments with a number of characters. So that’s good.

Q: Do you feel like you get two characters since they named the monkey Annie’s Boobs?

AB: No, I don’t take any ownership in Annie’s Boobs. She is her own character. She’s an amazing actor.

Q: What do the throngs of adoring male fans do for your ego?

AB: [Laughs] They’re great. They make me feel awesome. I love them. I will never begrudge loving fans.

Q: Do you get it a lot more constantly now that you’re on Twitter?

AB: Twitter is great because it is a direct throughline to fans. I would assume it’s what it would be like when people would get fan mail. It’s sort of like instant fan mail, or weird creepy things. You never know what you’re going to get.

Q: Was there a weird creepy one that’s funny enough to repeat?

AB: I mean, requests for like my underwear are always interesting.

Q: Who thinks they’re actually going to get a pair?

AB: I don’t know! More often I think that they think that I probably just don’t read it. What I would say to those people is I read almost all of people’s responses. I just don’t have time to respond to them usually.

Q: How many @mentions do you get a day?

AB: It depends. If there’s something of note that day like a GQ spread is issued, it might be hundreds. If I haven’t tweeted in a while, it might be 15. You never know.

Q: Your tweets are very provocative. Do you come up with them off the cuff or are they well planned?

AB: Usually they come right off the top of my head but then I will sit and agonize over grammar, because there’s nothing worse than a grammatical error in a tweet. You will never hear the end of it.

Who says girls can't be funny? Well, at least some of them.

Last week, I ran-down this fall’s guy sitcoms, so this time around we’ll take a look at the chick side of things. And for once, the new shows starring the gals look more promising than the offering from the guy-centered sitcoms. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Let’s have a look…

WATCH IT:

The New Girl (FOX), Premieres Tuesday, 9/20 at 9 pm

This may not be the obvious pick since FOX sitcoms are generally not the strongest and NBC has been shoving Whitney down our throats like crazy, but don’t be fooled by the Peacock’s aggressive marketing campaign.

“The New Girl” stars Zooey Deschanel as a woman who splits with her boyfriend and then becomes a roommate with three dudes. Zooey Deschanel is great to watch and the comedy in this mostly comes from the relationship she has with her new roomies. I’m thinking this may be a slow starter — like last season’s Raising Hope — and then shape up to be a pretty decent show.

SKIP IT:

Whitney (NBC), Premieres Thursday, 9/22 at 9:30 pm (ET)

I might soon be eating my words on this one, but I say don’t even bother with this. Sure, Cummings is hot (just insert your own joke at this point), she does have some occasional funny stuff, but must she scream every line at us? To me, this show is going to be like her act — funny for the first few minutes, then it’s just loud repetition.

But if you do want to tune in — the mute button is recommended — you’ll be watching Cummings starring as a chick living with her boyfriend and together they learn to deal with being unmarried, their home life, outside relationships and all that crap. This show will probably make it, but I won’t be watching.

THE REST:

2 Broke Girls (CBS), Premieres Monday, 9/19 at 9:30 pm

I like Kat Dennings and her “I could give a shit” approach to comedy and acting and this show looks kind of entertaining. It stars Dennings and another chick none of you know as waitresses in a diner. They are polar opposites, but form a buddy comedy-style friendship and decide to go into business together. Nothing ground breaking, but there is a laugh or two to be had.

Suburgatory (ABC), Premieres Wednesday, 9/28 at 8:30 pm

I loved some of the cast, but when they are in a show centered around a teen from the city that makes a move to the suburbs, I probably don’t need to say anything further. I’d rather read a book. And I never read.

She's also a big fan of Beavis and Butt-Head.

6 photosAshley Rickards

I think the title Awkward is all hype. I see Ashley Rickards on the show and I think she’s out of my league. But then Hollywood has a long history of beautiful women playing outcasts in ‘80s movies and teen shows.

MTV’s new show stars Rickards as Jenna, high school girl who starts to get attention after an accident is mistaken for a suicide attempt. Even walking around in a neck brace and cast, Jenna’s the girl I would hang out with. In person at MTV’s cocktail party for the Television Critics Association, Rickards looked like a star with high heels and a designer blazer over an aqua dress. It wasn’t awkward (I don’t think) when I stopped her to ask a few questions about her new show.

Q: I think you’re a lovely girl. How do you feel awkward when your fans think you’re great?

Ashley Rickards: This whole show is a message to all of them and we love them so much. We made the show for them. I think the show transcends the teenage years. I think you can pluck out the players and the setting and put it in any stage of life. The topics that we explore are friendship, pushing the limits, what aspects do you need in a relationship, physical and emotional and which one should come first.

Q: Is awkward just my type?

AR: I hope so. I hope that’s a lot of people’s type. I think Jenna’s a great girl and that’s one of the messages of our show. Smart girls win eventually.

Q: What is coming up in future episodes?

AR: Wow, we have coffee down a bra. Jillian [Rose Reed] spits in my face. It’s actually her saliva on my actual face. Jenna wears heels which is a big deal. Jenna gets to wear some lipstick. It’s going to be exciting.

Q: What do you love about Jenna?

AR: She’s very reserved but she’s intuitive. She’s also very introspective and non judgmental which I think the general public could really take a lesson from. One of the most striking things about Jenna is how kind she is to Sadie, the mean girl because she sees that there’s a reason why Sadie’s being that way. She doesn’t instantly jump on the bandwagon of being really mean to Sadie.

Q: That’s like Gandhi. He said you should love your enemies because they’re lacking love.

AR: I like Gandhi. I have a picture of him in my house. Gandhi inspired Jenna. No, that would be interesting if Awkward were centered around Gandhi. First of all, I don’t think it would be called Gandhi.

Q: What were the MTV shows you watched growing up?

AR: I loved True Life, My So-Called Life. I did even catch a little bit of Daria.

Q: Are you excited that Beavis and Butt-Head are back?

AR: I’m so excited! I remember I think I was about seven staying at my aunt’s house and my mom said, “Hey, you can’t let her watch South Park or Beavis and Butt-Head.” To this day, those are my two favorite shows. It’s not only because they’re awesome, but it’s a little bit because my mom told me I couldn’t. But I was seven so I understand why.

Q: Where does the season finale leave Jenna?

AR: It leaves her alone in her room. I cannot elaborate on that but you’ll see. It’s a big turning point.

Awkward airs Tuesdays at 11 on MTV.

Now, you can see a sneak preview of Fat Mac in a trailer for the show’s 7th season. It is funny, I guess, but there’s also something … disturbing(?) about it. Anyway, it’s pretty short and Mac-centric, but it should still scratch fans of the show and curious rubberneckers right where they itch. And as always with It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, a valuable lesson is imparted: “There’s more to life than piles of food.” Thanks, guys.
And more David Tennant since he's actually recognizable overseas.

6 photosImogen Poots

Thus far, Fright Night 3D has made three promises. 1) it will be frightening. 2) it will take place at night. 3) it will jump off the screen and charge a higher ticket premium. But, there’s been some fears that the movie won’t be frightening enough. The studio’s marketing aims to alleviate those fears with yet another trailer. This time, it’s an international trailer.

It features more horror elements than the previous cuts, and features more David Tennant. Which makes sense seeing as international audiences actually know who he is. Frankly, I don’t have to be sold. I’ve seen enough to know it will keep me entertained. I’ll still watch the next three trailers though.
Sure, there is some fun and intern sex to be had, but there’s also hard moral decisions and dirty pool. The story is loosely based on the primary run of Howard Dean, and follows Gosling as he uses tactics he disagrees with to try to get Clooney the Democratic nomination over Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s rival senator Paul Giamatti also stars as Hoffman’s campaign manager, Marisa Tomei plays a New York Times reporter, and Evan Rachel Wood plays the intern with whom it is fun to have sex.

It turns out switching bodies with your best friend DOES create all sorts of problems.

7 photosOlivia Wilde

The new Change-Up trailer is here exclusive to Screen Junkies, and it’s got a more ribald tint to it than what you’ve seen on TV and in the theaters. Beyond the usual dose of red-band talk of boners, f-bombs, and “masterating,” we also get a little more Olivia Wilde in this one, which is never a bad thing.

This trailer also sheds a little more light on how the Jason Bateman/Ryan Reynolds body/mind transfer unfolds, and I don’t think I’m spoiling anything by revealing that wacky mishaps abound. Reynolds has difficulty immediately adjusting to married life! Jason Bateman must revert to bachelorhood! Only with this red-band trailer, the producers are able to get a little more…detailed.

Also, we learn that Bateman’s wife (Leslie Mann’s character) has a bald spot on her vagina. I have no reason to believe that was drawn from reality, but it’s fun to pretend it is, if only for a minute.

Evil has been kicking around the festival scene and thanks to Comic-Con, it’s now on many more radars. As far as horror send-ups go, it’s got a pretty awesome premise. Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine star as two innocent hillbillies fixing up their cabin in the woods. A carload of college kids mistakes them for creepy killers, and through a series of misunderstandings, end up killing themselves while incriminating Tucker and Dale along the way.

That is why I never go into the woods. It’s too dangerous. That and the raccoons with their creepy little hands and what are they planning anyway???
