Ellin ostensibly has a script done, that he wrote, because who knows the intricacies of guys named Turtle, Vinnie, E, and Johnny Drama more than the deft scribe that birthed them? No one, that’s who.

I hope they are an efficient crew, because there’s a very narrow window in which the team will be able to shoot those scenes where the sun is setting (the magic hour, if you will) over a Malibu beach house deck, with the characters toasting their good fortune as Medellin 2 gets a really good distribution deal in foreign markets.

It Started Small

Contrary to what you might think, Comic-Con wasn’t always the massive, almost-impossible-to-actually-get-into behemoth and media frenzy that it is today. No, when it started in 1970, it was truly a niche operation, attracting only 300 comic book devotees to the U.S. Grant Hotel. What would go on to become San Diego Comic-Con was called “Golden State Comic-Con,” and it’s a safe bet that no one expected it to become such a massive phenomenon.

It’s Not Just About Comics

Casual observers could be forgiven for assuming that Comic-Con is just about comic books. After all, it’s called Comic-Con, not “General Pop Culture Stew-Con.” But that name might actually be more accurate, since Comic-Con has exploded to include pretty much every form of pop culture under the sun. Movies used to be the primary focus, but in recent years this has shifted to TV, but really all aspects of pop culture are included, from anime to TV commercials to obscure science fiction movies.

It’s More Popular Than Ever

Ever since 2006, when Comic-Con had to temporarily suspend registration due to crowding, the organizers of the event have had to deal with the problem of too many people trying to get into it at once. In 2008, all the tickets to Comic-Con were sold out before the event even began, for the first time in the event’s history. And it has only continued to grow since then – if this keeps up, they might have to add a “Sort of Comic-Con” for spillover or something.

It’s Been In The Movies And On The TV

You know you’re on the map when Hollywood is setting movies around you – and Comic-Con is definitely on the map. It was the primary setting for the aptly-titled Comic Book: The Movie, and in episodes of TV shows like Entourage, Numb3rs, Beauty and the Geek, and Punk’d. Also, it’s been featured in at least one actual comic book: The Invincible Iron Man #72. File under “Is This Ironic?”

It’s Stuck In San Diego Until At Least 2015

Despite the aforementioned issues with crowding and whatnot, it appears that most of the parties involved are happy with the San Diego Convention Center as the home of Comic-Con, as it’s been since 1991. And it’s easy to see why the people of San Diego are willing and eager to accommodate such a giant spectacle: The San Diego Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has calculated the convention’s economic impact as $162.8 million a year.

It Was Robbed In 1979

Not much information on this incident is available online, but apparently the Comic-Con organization was robbed of a significant amount of money in 1979. Instead of closing up shop, they had to ask for donations from patrons in order to cover bills like rent and expenses. Nowadays, if something like that happened, they could probably just get a quick loan from George Lucas or something.

At Least One Attendee Has Made Good

It’s a safe assumption that many Comic-Con attendees of today have dreams of making it big. Money, caviar, gorgeous women, etc. And at least one lucky guest from the early years of the convention has made good on those dreams: Matt Groening, creator of the animated sitcom/merchandising bonanza The Simpsons is said to be one of the attendees of the convention in its early years, long before he found yellow animated stardom. See? It can happen!

So if you’re in the market for an assistant, but don’t have a lot of extra cash to spend on a pedigreed butler, just swing by Home Depot, pick up a day laborer, toss him in a tux, then show him the following films so he can learn how to really serve his employer.

Howard Weinstein – Father of the Bride

This snobby assistant (played flawlessly by B.D. Wong) lives to serve wedding guru Franck Eggelhoffer. With an oddly Jewish name, the Asian assistant seems to do most of the heavy lifting. Sadly, his appearance was a full decade before the Bluetooth age, otherwise, you can bet dollars to donuts that he would be rocking one in each ear, while explaining why you can’t in good conscience spend less than $3,400 for the groom’s cake.

Brandt – The Big Lebowski

Humor is overrated, especially in an assistant. I prefer canine-like devotion, as does Mr. Lebowski, apparently. Brandt certainly fits that description. While enthusiasm doesn’t seem to be his strong suit, he’s got a job to do, and he’s going to do it. Further, he suffers abuse from his employer pretty well, which is a really nice trait, especially considering how much we will all want to torment our butlers and assistants once we hire them. I mean, that’s the point, right?

Just because he has no sense of humor doesn’t mean you can’t still treat him like crap, just like The Big Lebowski does.

Predictable

Vince is up for a big movie. Oh no, Vince isn’t going to do the movie. Oh wait, now Vince is going to do the movie. Vince needs to get on a flight. Oh no, flights are sold out! Oh wait, Kanye West will give Vince a ride in his private jet. There’s no conflict or consequences and the plot’s suffer because of it. I only like to watch things work out in my own life. I need plot twists and character growth to hold my interest.

Product Placement

Though producers try their best to sometimes integrate products into the plot, Entourage really isn’t much more than a gigantic advertisement. For instance, Budweiser. It’s everywhere all of the time. You would think that the suave, millionaire star of Aquaman would have something a bit more refined than sudsy piss water on hand for his hot model party guests. Also, how about an episode where we see Turtle have to bring all of those bottles to the recycling center? If he really has an expensive sneaker habit to support, he’d be all over those deposit fees.

This Guy

Everyday is Christmas for this guy and it makes no sense. Yes, he can drive well and he’s got good weed, but other than that, he’s just taking, taking, taking. He sleeps in Vince’s house, drinks Vince’s Budweiser (see above), and tries to sleep with the girls that Vince didn’t feel like sleeping with. Oh, and you just know this asshole has never done a dish in his life.

“True Blood” is coming to your blood-red-carpeted living room on Sunday, June 26, at 9 pm, while “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is loudly shouting at the members of your household on Sunday, July 10, at 10 pm.

Like a phoenix rising from the douchebag ashes, the former Vice President will lead the charge to ensure viewers ball up their fists in anger. The network is developing the book Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency into a miniseries. The material will cover his early days in the Nixon administration and follow throughout his ambitious rise to power until the exciting third act where Darth Vader throws him down a chasm as he’s giving the lightning to Luke Skywalker.

“We just really needed to put one of the worst people imaginable on television,” says an HBO spokesperson that I just invented in my head. “We’re all a fan of what Jeremy Piven did. We’ll always be thankful to Jeremy, but it was just time to put some other dildo-face on the schedule. That’s just how networks operate.”

In between his seasons of “Entourage,” Adrien Grenier has been making documentaries. His latest one doesn’t deviate too far from the Hollywood-centric show though. Teenage Paparazzi starts as a profile of a young photographer Grenier met in Hollywood. Following 14-year-old Austin Visschedyk educated Grenier on the business of paparazzi, and the value of it.

In the trenches of Hollywood, Grenier saw the ingenuity involved with locating photo ops, and even tried his hand at shooting once. He interviewed celebrities about their relationship with the paparazzi and even spoke to scholars about the social phenomena of people communing over their shared knowledge of celebrities.

This was a good opportunity to catch up on Vinnie Chase too. “Entourage” just wrapped its latest season with a cliffhanger as Vince spirals into drug use. There are rumors of a movie and one last short season to set that up. Grenier talked revealed some insight on both “Entourage” and paparazzi in our interview.

SJ: Will Austin’s business drop off when he’s middle aged and it’s not cute anymore?

AG: I think if you’re in this business of media and images, you always have to adapt and always create fresh ideas and new images. So I don’t know. He’ll have to adapt also. He can’t be cute forever and that story gets old eventually.

SJ: It seems like he’s already doing that.

AG: He’s changing, yeah. That was one of the most interesting, fascinating moments is to see just how much he had changed in such a short amount of time. That’s the great thing about Austin being the subject is he was an innocent kid. He hadn’t been yet jaded so there was so much potential for him to absorb and learn and change through the process.

SJ: He said the photos are worth thousands of dollars. If he’s sold as many as we saw, and more on his own, does he have a massive savings now?

AG: I never really got into his finances. To me it was enough to know that yeah, you make a lot of money and the specific numbers I guess weren’t important to me. I was more interested in the phenomenology and the cultural effects of this.

SJ: Is he set for college at least?

AG: Yeah, I guess if we want to encourage more kids to do it. Have fun and earn college tuition by being a douche bag.

SJ: Did you discover the social value of the paparazzi photos?

AG: The Henry Jenkins moments, I do. I think it’s just a matter of recognizing that and dispelling the myth that had been propagated by the tabloid industry that there’s some newsworthiness to it. It’s not news. It’s entertainment. To explore this subject, I think it would’ve been a mistake to just point figures and cast stones and dismiss the industry. It would be too simple and I would just be creating more tabloid or more gossip about them. I thought the only way to really truly defuse this whole notion of gossip is to not gossip but actually get to know the pros and the cons, the subtle complexities of the subject and of the people, of the paparazzi themselves.

SJ: If any celebrity feels invaded for a few minutes, as you show Julia Roberts or Bruce Willis yelling at them, is the other side that paparazzi live a sad life waiting there since 8AM to get that minute of photo time?

AG: Yeah, and I guarantee you they’d rather be doing something else. If they had the choice they would be doing something else. They do have the choice. I take that back, they do, but I’m sure if they could trade places with any of the celebrities, they would in a heartbeat. Look at Adnan [Ghalib], the guy who married Britney. The guy who married Britney Spears and had her baby, he’s a paparazzi.

SJ: What is “Entourage’s” role in the perception of celebrity?

AG: I think “Entourage” was a response to our public’s fascination and curiosity of celebrity and the celebrity lifestyle. In a lot of ways, it’s the triumph on the American dream or at least perceived as such because celebrities have it all. They have money, they have infinite options. That in a lot of ways has been the American dream. It’s changed because of the media. Hip hop culture and the bling of the rock star lifestyle and fabulous celebrities… at one time the American dream was about hard work, contributing to your local community, buying a house, having a couple kids and that was the American dream. Not anymore. Now the American dream is all about bling, American bling. I guess ultimately the fantasy, the indulgence in these fantasies isn’t all that bad necessarily. It’s just when you start to believe them and start to feel inadequate if you don’t have it or your real life starts to become less real because you’re always comparing yourself to the power of the illusion or the image.

SJ: Have you enjoyed the direction Vince has been going?

AG: It’s been great. It’s been a challenge. I’ve been excited to have the opportunity to go there with Vince. I’m looking forward to next year.

SJ: Can it go back to the fun party?

AG: I think that’s the point. A lot of the lessons I’ve learned are from “Entourage” where you start to look at the real value in life. The thing that lasts, the thing that keeps you sane and safe is not the partying. It’s the friendship. It’s the family. It’s those values, not the lifestyle.

SJ: What are your feelings about possibly doing a movie?

AG: I’m excited about the movie and I’m always open to the evolution of the show. We don’t have to keep it the same. We can’t. It wouldn’t be fun.

"Entourage" is on its way out at HBO. According to Latino Review, the show will air its final episode next summer. But that doesn’t mean that (insert douche bag lead character’s name here before you publish) and the gang are finished. It seems they’ll be living on in movie form.

Mark Wahlberg recently mentioned the likelihood of an "Entourage" film, and now creator Doug Ellin is expressing interest in writing a script. And if HBO’s other *sshole-based show, "Sex and the City," is any indication, the network is all about a movie spin off.

The real question is whether the show will stay relevant long enough to warrant a film, or will a movie version suffer from the same indifference as X-Files: I Want to Believe. Based on this season’s reviews, fans are already losing interest, and I can’t say I blame them. If I wanted to watch a bunch of Hollywood D-Bags having sex, I’d get a part-time job as a maintenance man at the Roosevelt Hotel and secretly plant webcams in all of the suites and public bathrooms. I mean, ya know, if I were so inclined, which I’m totally not.

Kimberly Fisher might be someone you’ve seen during your sleepless nights watching  Showtime’s after dark special “Hotel Erotica Cabo.” This Alaskan native has made a good name for herself in the soft-core business, and is really moving up fast, having recently starred in “Entourage,” as an uncredited ‘Agent’.

Douche lovers around the world have been salivating since December when rumors of an "Entourage" movie began to surface. Now, producer Mark Wahlberg has laid out some specifics, saying that the show will most likely last two more seasons before it’s made into a feature film. He also dropped hints about possible plans for a wildly original plot.

"In the trailer, you see [Ari Gold and his associate, Lloyd] waking up together in Vegas no knowing what happened," Wahlberg imagined. "It would be pretty cool!"

Jesus Christ? As long as we’re blatantly ripping off Vegas movies, why not go the Casino route and have Vince and the gang beaten to death in a secluded cornfield? That would be even funnier than the time Drama banged the furry (LOL!), mainly because they’d all be bleeding and gasping for air (LMAO)! (First Showing)

Things are just peachy keen for Vince and the gang. So much so that they decided to spend the afternoon on the edge of a cliff shootin’ the shit, and you better believe HBO was rolling the cameras. Seriously, could they have not come up with a better promo than this for season 7 of "Entourage"? The whole "we’re just bros hanging out and living life" schtick got stale in season 3. Newsflash guys: you don’t live in the real world! The stakes on the show don’t matter because they usually consist of Vince toiling over which hot girl to f*ck. But no matter how it shakes out, he still gets to f*ck a hot girl.  Meanwhile on Main Street, some poor schmo is deciding which kid of his to sacrifice so he can feed the rest of his family. I realize it’s not as dire as having zero bars on your iPhone, but it’s in the same ballpark.

Professional sex-haver/indie film darling Sasha Gray has landed the role of Vince’s girlfriend on the seventh season of "Entourage." From TV Guide:

This is by no means a small cameo, but a major role as the new long-term girlfriend of Adrian Grenier’s Vince Chase.

“I think Sasha’s going to have a very successful transition,” says Entourage creator Doug Ellin, who was impressed by the performer’s leading role in Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s 2009 film, “The Girlfriend Experience.”

He won’t admit it to TV Guide but Ellin was also impressed by the AVN Adult Movie Award winner’s roles in Butt Sex Bonanza, Seinfeld: A XXX Parody, Butt Man’s Stretch Class 3, Fox Holes, and I Wanna Bang Your Sister.

It’s said that Vince’s new relationship is based off the past relationships of Charlie Sheen, which is a spoiler alert in and of itself. Her character is definitely going to end up dead in a ditch. I imagine that the plotline will require Turtle to dump her in the ocean, but opts for the ravine when he gets worried he’ll scuff up his kicks if he drags her that far.

He got schooled by Matt Damon before and now an unruly concertgoer has jumped on the bandwagon. While performing at Harrah’s in Atlantic City with his band The Hone Brothers this past weekend, Adrian Grenier was accosted. "You suck, Grenier!," screamed a heroic citizen after rushing to the front row and throwing a drink at the Entourage star.

“Entourage” made its triumphant return last night, and with it came the return of the adorable Emmanuelle Chriqui.  She took a long break from playing Sloan, Eric’s smoking hot girlfriend – much to the dismay of every heterosexual male who watches it in hopes of seeing attractive women (the same ones who watch to hear Ari say something cool that they can co-opt for themselves).  The producers and writers must’ve realized they were all morons for not featuring her on the show, and now she’s back.  All is right with the world (except the economy, of course).
