In fact, Emily Blunt was initially cast as Black Widow back in 2010 but she was forced to drop out in favor of looking like a stupid dick in the disastrous flop Gulliver’s Travels. If the Daily Mail is to be believed, Blunt may still have her chance to join the Marvel universe. According to the tabloid, both Blunt and Luther star Ruth Wilson are up for the role of Ms. Marvel in Avengers 2: Shawarma Nights.

Between Johansson striking it rich with her sloppy-seconds and Chris Evans nabbing Captain America over Blunt’s husband, John Krasinski, it’s going to be a weird set. If this casting happens, I demand a fight between Black Widow and Ms. Marvel. It’s the only way to relieve the awkward on-set tension. And if they fight in nightgowns, all the better.

Directed by Nicholas Stoller, The Five-Year Engagement also has an impressive 60% Must See TV supporting cast, which features Chris Pratt, Alison Brie, Mindy Kaling, Chris Parnell, and Jacki Weaver.

Mireille Enos (AMC’s “The Killing“) has snagged a role in Paramount‘s World War Z, based on the Max Brooks bestseller about zombies. This is the first movie Hollywood has made about zombies in a long time. She’ll play wife Karin Lane to star Brad Pitt. Though Enos has starred in TV shows like “Big Love,” this is the first time her face will be stretched to movie theater proportions in a major role. (Deadline)

Meanwhile, the Judd Apatow produced comedy Five Year Engagement is importing a new lady from NBC Thursdays to join the cast. Mindy Kaling “The Office“) will join Alison Brie (“Community”), as well as Jason Segal, Emily Blunt, Rhys Ifans and Chris Pratt “Parks and Recreation“). With all that NBC talent on board, they’d better hope a film opening opposite them doesn’t feature stars from CBS, or they will be crushed at the box office. (Variety)

It’s no surprise to me that Pratt’s been cast in producer Judd Apatow‘s latest film, Five-Year Engagement. Directed by Nick Stoller, Five-Year is about the roller-coaster relationship between characters played by Jason Segel and Emily Blunt. Sounds very Apatowish to me. It’s reassuring to know that there’s another schlubby, bearded comedian who can pinch hit for Seth Rogen. Allison Brie (“Community”) was also recently cast, so we now know what Apatow watches on Thursday nights. All the sitcoms on CBS, America’s Most Watched Network.

Meanwhile, Rhys Ifans (Greenberg) is in talks to play a role. Hopefully it’ll be the same role he’s playing in The Amazing Spider-Man: The Lizard. It’d be nice if Apatow changed things up a bit, and if The Lizard was in just one of his movies. Just one. I’m sure The Lizard would like to get high and discuss his feelings with other dudes too. (The Playlist)

Matt Damon, if you want to make movies where you run around being chased by bad guys, why can’t you call it Jason Bourne? We like Jason Bourne. We trust you and the filmmakers to come up with more good stories for him. It’s not a bad thing.

In The Adjustment Bureau, Damon is not Jason Bourne. He plays David Norris, a senatorial candidate being followed around by guys in hats who monitor his life decisions in notebooks filled with indecipherable graphics. One day, David’s shadow, Harry (Anthony Mackie), forgets to make him spill his coffee and throws the whole plan off. David walks in on a major adjustment, so Richardson (John Slattery) and his crew chase him around.

What really causes problems is that David reunites with Elise (Emily Blunt), a woman he was never supposed to see again. The Bureau will throw minor obstacles in their way to keep them apart, but can’t do anything so major it causes a ripple in the plan.

The story has a real spiritual view, talking about the universe’s plan as if it’s a bureaucracy. It’s only an intro course though. The advanced courses would be Total Recall, Dark City or Gattaca, where characters combat fates predestined by science. (Sorry Matrix, you’re maybe an extra credit, but not an AP class.)

Writer/director George Nolfi has some fun with the dropped calls and traffic delays that can impact David’s life. The film wants us to think about the significance of seemingly minor nuisances in our own lives, the butterfly effect of sliding doors as it were. However, here it’s only in service of a safe and generic romance. Elise is the spunky rom-com girl and it seems like they’re only in love because they’re the stars of the movie.

The adjusters can open doors to make them instant portals to other parts of the city. The visual effect is seamless and subtle, but when Harry warns David to never turn the knob counterclockwise, what do you expect is going to happen? The vague description of the chairman and the files kept on all people leaves it open to interpretation, but the film does want to specify that humanity’s darkest moments, including the Holocaust, were when the adjusters left us to our own devices.

We’re getting closer to a complete movie. The Adjustment Bureau has some good ideas if it would only dig a little deeper. Maybe in another month or so we’ll get the total package.

Looks like Rian Johnson has found the perfect actor to fill the role of creepy, skinny guy in Looper. Milkshake enthusiastPaul Dano is in talks to join the sci-fi  film in an unspecified role.

The cast already includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Emily Blunt. As a refresher, the film is centered around killers who dispose of their victim’s bodies by sending them back in time. Because that is apparently less complex than clearing out their bank accounts and then setting them on fire beneath the old train bridge on the outskirts of town. Not that I’ve ever done that. Congratulations Paul. (Variety)

Like the trailer for the film, I’m just going with it. Why fight it, really? Awful beach background. A fist bump. None of it matters. If Adam Sandler still makes you laugh, you’ll see this movie. But poor Jennifer Aniston. She used to have so much promise. Why won’t a nice man marry her already and give her a baby? (JoBlo)

No wait, two! TWO giant Terrence Stamp shadows! If this movie doesn’t deliver on superfluous Terrence Stamp shadows I’m going to be extremely disappointed. (Collider)

Alex Pettyfer plays an alien, or Ryu from Street Fighter, in this DJ Caruso-directed film. When the whoevers or whatevers come to kill him they’re going to get a big surprise. Blue Gak to the face, or a dose of human emotion from an alien life form that will give them pause. (Collider)

History is happening here, folks. Please take a moment, open your journals, and write this information down. Trust me, you’ll want to always remember where you were when you first heard this news. Emily Blunt might appear in a good movie. Years of indentured servitude to 20th Century Fox have forced her to pass on films like Iron Man 2 in favor of Gulliver’s Travels, but now it looks like she is free and clear to team up with Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segal for their Forgetting Sarah Marshall follow-up, The Five-Year Engagement.

The story centers around a couple who are hesitant to put a ring on it. Comedy will be a departure for Blunt (Gulliver’s Travels doesn’t count) but I believe she’ll shine in this role. As a fan of Segal and Blunt, I fully approve of this. Let’s ge Paul Rudd attached and call it a day. (Vulture)

It’s been awhile sinc high school English but I don’t remember anything in Gulliver’s Travels about a gigantic mechanized suit giving Gulliver an atomic wedgie. Yet that’s exactly what happens in this new trailer. Strange though, because I would definitely have remembered that part.

I also don’t remember Foosball, Star Wars jokes, a Lilliputian KISS cover band, or general Jack Black fat-guy-fall-down hammery. But they’re all in here. I feel so bad for the kid who rents this instead of reading the book before his big term paper is due.

According to Production Weekly, Emily Blunt has signed up for Rian Johnson‘s sci-fi movie Looper. It’s expected that she’ll play the female lead, a MILF who finds Joseph Gordon-Levitt hiding out in her barn.

If Van Damme movies have taught me anything, Gordon-Levitt will stay with her and her son for a while, help with farm chores, teach the kid to play catch, get intimate with Emily, and then have to confront his past when his enemies show up on the doorstep. Or worse, he’ll be banned into exile when the family Netflixes G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. Seriously, why was he in that?

With movies like Dan In Real Life, Gnomeo and Juliet, The Wolfman, and Gulliver’s Travels on her resume, you’d think Emily Blunt would be a little less apt to take a role in a goofy movie. You’d think.

Nope, the actress is going to flush away all the street cred she earned starring in those flicks by signing on to Engagement Games. The plot reads like a Kate Hudson fever dream;  three sisters get engaged around the same time and compete for their mother’s wedding ring. The father (probably played by Alan Alda) comes up with the idea of crowning the victor after a round of Family Olympics. May the best curler win! (Pajiba)

A talking rabbit once told me, "If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all." I turned that rabbit into a stew because I loathe miracles of science, but its words always stuck with me. Having said that, FOX released the trailer for the new Jack Black film Gulliver’s Travels. It’s based off the classic Jonathan Swift novel you haven’t read, and also stars Emily Blunt, Amanda Peet, T.J. Miller, and Jason Segel.

Basically a man-child goes to the Bermuda Triangle for a fluff news piece and ends up getting into an S&M type situation with little people. It’s like that scene in Night at the Museum when Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan come to life, if that scene was over 90 minutes long. Your kids are gonna love it. Pack juice boxes for them and a couple Xanax for yourself. Oops, there go those mean words.

The Adjustment Bureau is bringing Philip K. Dick back to the big screen, and in more of a Blade Runner way than a Paycheck way. Matt Damon plays an ambitious politician on the brink of winning a U.S. Senate seat when he meets ballet dancer Emily Blunt. Then sh*t gets unreal. Just as he’s realizing he’s falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart.

The motley crew known as The Adjustment Bureau is led by Roger Sterling of "Mad Men," and it’s my asumption that when they’re not determining people’s fates they’re aligning spines in their unstuffy chiropractic practice. It’s the place right by the Baskin Robbins. Park on Oak though, there are never any spots on Main.

I hate reporting on stuff that ISN’T happening, but it’s a slow news weekend and I thought you could use a picture of some stellar cleavage. Emily Blunt has officially passed on the role of Peggy Carter in Captain America. Most likely she prefers money in exchange for her services, and Marvel is notorious for hating to give up theirs. If they could pay their actors with t-shirts from the swag room they’d jump at the opportunity.

Now that Emily is out, Kiera Knightley and Alice Eve are the top contenders. Isn’t everyone like sooooo over Knightley yet? I want my Peggy Carter to have some meet on her bones. If Kiera gets any skinner she’s going to have to develop a coke habit. Not because she should do drugs, she just needs a cooler explanation than genetics. (/Film)

Emily Blunt is marrying Jim Halpert from The Office. Boooo. John Krasinski gets to hear her sexy British accent every morning when he wakes up and every night before he goes to sleep. He’s already got Pam Beesly. Way to be selfish John Jim!

Rebels are intimidating to guys without motorcycles, such as I. Granted I still would have been too nervous to talk to you at school, but at least I wouldn’t have been afraid of you.

The first poster for Joe Johnston‘s The Wolfman arrived online today. The production has had its fair share of problems and as much as I hate to jump on the hater bandwagon, I’ve got to say, I’m really just not that impressed with the makeup effects. Seems too low-fi.

Every new image or clip of The Wolfman gets me less and less excited for the film’s release… and now comes the second full trailer, which ends up playing out like some sort of Victorian version of The Fast & The Furious.

There’s so much dried poop stuck to the hairy butt of this trailer you’re gonna need to resurrect Billy Mays to figure out a solution for getting it out. C’mon Joe Johnston! Not since Jumanji have we had to deal with hairy CG animal poop clumps. The only convincing part of the trailer was Hugo Weaving, and he pretty much fapped around all day on set (see photo):
