Elizabeth Olsen Has A Crappy Vacation In ‘Silent House’ Trailer

After a few breakout hits at Sundance, everyone wants Elizabeth Olsen these days. So much so that she’s being stalked all over the place. In this trailer for Silent House, her dad is completely Facebook stalking her and then to make matters worse there’s someone or something inside her summer house trying to attack her.

This horror film is drawing rave reviews which means it must have a gimmick. Shot on the cheap as one continuous take, Silent House is a horror tale told in real time. Which means the viewer is essentially front row center as the main character spends the film trying to escape while more and more terrifying mysteries are brought into light. The film was sold to Lionsgate for $2 million after building good buzz at Sundance. That may not seem like a lot of profit in movie terms but keep in mind, they didn’t need to hire an editor.

The world is quickly learning that the Olsen twins have a cuter (and arguably more talented) younger sister who seems poised to overtake them in film cred. Which isn’t too hard to do considering the elder Olsens don’t really do the whole acting thing anymore, but still. Elizabeth Olsen is known primarily for appearing in indie flicks at this point, having emerged as a favorite at the Sundance Film Festival this past year. She’ll stick to aforementioned indie-stardom next year with a role in Josh Radnor‘s Liberal Arts alongside singer-boy Zac Efron.

Elizabeth Olsen made a big splash at this past year’s Sundance Film Festival with her appearance in Martha Marcy May Marlene. Now, those of us who have trouble breathing in high altitudes can see what all the hub-bub was about.

In this trailer, the newly-discovered credible Olsen seems really solid in the role of a girl who returns to her family after spending time with a cult. And John Hawkes is effortlessly creepy as the cult leader. I bet he watches his people poop. Seems like the type.

The film hits theaters on October 7th and Cannes before that. I have to say, Olsen nails this role of a confused girl freaking out for no apparent reason. It’s a flawless Mischa Barton impression.

If you were one of the several people who saw Buried last year, you’re probably looking forward to Rodrigo Cortes’ next movie, the supernatural thriller Red Lights, starring Elizabeth Olsen, Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, and Sigourney Weaver. In it, De Niro plays a famous psychic, which explains why in this picture it looks like he’s standing on a stage of some kind. Perhaps the sunglasses are to hide his third eye? I don’t know how psychics work.

I love Buried, so I’m pretty excited about this, even though the plot synopsis from star Elizabeth Olsen makes it seem more conventional than that:

“Robert [De Niro] plays a world renowned psychic and Sigourney is a psychology professor, and I play her student… Cillian Murphy is my love interest, though that’s not a huge part of the story.”

You can see the larger picture down below. You can also print it out and take it to the mall so you can get a pair of sunglasses just like De Niro has. That’s what I’m going to do, anyway. (via /Film)

The Credible Olsen Sister Snags Another Indie Film Role

Sundance darlings Elizabeth Olsen and Josh Radnor are teaming up to take over the festival. “How I Met Your Mother‘s” Radnor struck quirky gold with his 2010 directorial entry Happythankyoumoreplease, and Olsen turned heads with her performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene.

Radnor will next direct Olsen and himself in Liberal Arts from his own script. Whoooaaaa-ho!! Slow down there. We’ve already got a James Franco. Radnor will play a 35-year old who can’t sever his ties to his college life and accept the responsibilities of adulthood. Olsen will play a teen-aged college student who he falls in love with over their mutual love of music. That’s quite an age difference. So, it’s like Garden State: The Super Creepy Version. Or rather, like a camera followed around Zach Braff during Sprin Break. (THR)

Elizabeth Olsen Gets ‘Red Light’

Elizabeth Olsen is currently getting great notices for her performance in the one-shot-only thriller Silent House at Sundance. Now it appears she’s starting to get some work thanks to her performance as well. She’s just been announced as joining Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, and Sigourney Weaver of Buried-director Rodrigo Cortés‘ thriller Red Light. The story is about “a psychologist (Weaver) and her assistant (Olsen) whose study of paranormal activity leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic (De Niro).” Creepy — almost as creepy as living with the Olsen twi–ugh, never mind. The article points out that the role is a good fit for Olsen because she is currently studying psychology at NYU. Hey, I studied psychology too, can I play a psychologist’s assistant in a movie? Note: I’m not related to the Olsen twins.

Buried is one of my favorite movies of last year so I’m definitely excited to what see Cortés does next, lost Olsen triplet or no. (Collider)
