As a recent and thoroughly wide-eyed convert to the cultish Church of Pilgrim, I was no doubt predisposed to drool over every moment of the Scott Pilgrim vs The World DVD bonus features. And drool I did, nearly the whole way through. Come to think of it, there might be something wrong with my mouth.

Some people are sick of Michael Cera's schtick. Then again, some people are sick of Will Ferrell's schtick and The Other Guys still banked 35 million bones this weekend. Obviously quirky character traits grow weary with time (just ask my girlfriend), but I'm not yet bothered by Cera's repeat bumbling everyman performances. If you're on the fence about seeing Scott Pilgrim vs. the World because you don't think you can stand Cera anymore, you should know he gets the sh*t beaten out of him in it. And now there's a fan-made ad that emphasizes that point.

Universal released the first of what director Edgar Wright tweeted would be seven Scott Pilgrim vs The World featurettes. This one nicely eases you into the series by focusing on the world of Scott Pilgrim through insight by Wright, Michael Cera, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. I personally don't want to watch anymore clips about the film because I'd like to still be surprised when I actually see the film. Regardless, the new footage got me even more jazzed, so I guess it was worth it. You win this time, studio marketing division. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World POWS! into theaters August 13. Edgar Wright considers casting Vin Diesel.For those not in the know and too lazy to look it up, Ant-Man is a scientist who shrinks down to tiny size and controls the thoughts of ants via a special helmet. Yeah. Pretty dumb. So why is Edgar Wright making a movie about this? He undoubtedly has a golden touch, but can he turn Ant-Man into something watchable? Turns out, he hasn't given it too much thought.I haven’t actually started the second draft yet–I’m not going to be able to until this film [Scott Pilgrim] is out–but what we wrote for the first draft, and what Marvel really liked, is that it’s funny, but it’s a genre film. It’s about the level of comedy that Iron Man has. The idea is to make a high-concept genre film where it’s within another genre. His suit and its power is the big gadget and it takes place in the real world. I just wanted to do something that was slightly different than the superhero origin film. I felt that between that and the various mad scientist, crazy doctor films that we’ve all seen, this would be a way into an origin that was slightly different. I’m not really a multi-tasker–I haven’t done anything since Marvel liked our first draft.Word on the street is that Wright's first draft is amazing. I still think it's pretty dumb. Ants are really non-threatening unless you're planning to commit some kind of picnic-based heist. Or if you're lackadaisical when it comes to guarding your pee hole. And if that's the case, maybe you're just not well-suited for a life of crime. (Box Office Magazine)

The international trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has HIT!!!! the Interwebz. The new footage and campy banter from Superman guy and "Arrested Development" Anne (Cowinkidink Alert!: She's Michael Cera's girlfriend on the show) are increasing my interest in this film. Not quite sure why we need to see a graphic representation of Scott Pilgrim's bladder being emptied, but I'll go with it. Perhaps in a sequel down the road we'll be privy to his prostate bar, a function those Flomax geniuses are probably toiling away on at this very moment. Check out the trailer after the jump…

I haven't been too impressed by what we've seen from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, but I'll admit I may have been too quick to judge. In this first clip we see Michael Cera attempt to square-off against Chris Evans's action-star Lucas Lee. Since Lee is a Hollywood A-lister, Pilgrim will have to contend with his team of stunt doubles first. It's a pretty clever clip and the fight choreography is pretty slick. Plus, it fulfills my post-Nick and Norah desire to see Michael Cera cracked over the head with a skateboard by a gang of Amish. Edgar Wright is a genius!Check out the clip after the jump…

If only real life offered 1-Ups… The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Facebook page hit 100,000 fans at 1:30am this morning, and that means the full length trailer has been unleashed. A big thank you goes out to all the drunks who stumbled back to their homes last night and stamped barbeque sauce on their keyboards as they eagerly "Liked" the fan page. Scott Pilgrim, based off the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O'Malley, follows a guy (Michael Cera) as he tries to defeat a girl's (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to make shiz official with her. His world becomes a big video game full of 1-Ups, vibrant color trails, and onamonapias. According to the film's tag, the studio wants you to believe  that it's on like Donkey Kong, but unless one of the ex-boyfriends is a giant ape in a dress tie, I'm going to have to insist that it's on like something else. The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World teaser is finally here, and it is marvelous, my darlings. Edgar Wright's kinetic style is abundently clear throughout every frame, split-screen, and smash cut. My only grievance is that Michael Cera can't seem to stop playing Michael Cera. He kicks serious ass in this film, but in between the comic strip infused action sequences Michael still shyly tries to grasp the concepts that Mary Elizabeth Winstead lays out for him. I'll be rooting for him all the same because God knows Chris Evans needs to be taken down a peg after securing Captain America, but I hope he erases the elipsies from his speech pattern by the end of the film, a.k.a. grows some balls. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World follows Michael Cera as he battles the seven evil ex-boyfriends to win the girl of his dreams. That's a weird approach to romance. "Oh hey. I beat the crap out of all your exes. You're mine now." [honks boob]Anyway, the teaser poster premiered at ShoWest and it depicts Michael Cera hunched over a bass guitar like a homeless person hunched over their own crippling hunger. Either that or he's just been kicked in the nuts. Hmmm, Michael Cera Kicked in the Nuts. After sitting through Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Paper Heart, that's a movie I'd pay to see. As you can see, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World takes place on the set of America Gladiators. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jason Schwartzman stand stoically as judges in the far background, while a dude breakdances in the middle ground. I'm just not sure if they're judging the dancing or Michael Cera's lightsaber skills. Maybe the guy taking a dump near the edge of frame knows. Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is about a Michael Cera type character played by Michael Cera who has to fight the seven evil ex-boyfriends of the girl of his dreams. That's a lot of effort to bag some tail. She better be really bendy. (via /Film)
