Viggo Mortensen And David Cronenberg Kicking Around ‘Eastern Promises 2′

Good news for people who like things that are awesome. The Russian mob film Eastern Promises, starring Viggo Mortensen and directed by David Cronenberg may have a sequel picking up where the original left off.

It was only a matter of time before A Dangerous Method, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises star Mortensen got back together with Cronenberg after sitting out the director’s next film Cosmopolis, which stars Robert Pattinson.

While Viggo didn’t exactly fill in a lot of gaps, he acknowledged that they’re cracking on the sequel, saying, ““I think that’s still a possibility, but something we’ll definitely do [together] I’m sure and I’m looking forward to it already, whatever it is.”

That makes two of us, Viggo.

The original closed with a twist ending that could have taken the story in any one of a number of directions, so they’re no doubt hacking out in what capacity that want Mortensen to be a total badass. Here’s to hoping they figure it out sooner rather than later.

You write one naked, steam room, knife fight and the world is your oyster. Eastern Promises writer Steven Knight (pictured left farting) will direct Hummingbird from his own script. The story centers around a former Special Forces soldier who infiltrates the criminal underground by assuming another man’s identity in order to exact revenge.

Well, that’s sounds like that one movie. Shoot, can’t remember the name… Viggo Mortenson was in it. Hmm… Oh yes, it was the 1985 ABC Afterschool Special”High School Narc.” Mortenson played Tim. (Deadline)

Sony Mistakenly Thinks Dan Brown Can Write

Sony Pictures has just stopped giving a damn, and is letting Dan Brown work on the screen adaptation of his novel, The Lost Symbol, THR is reporting. Steven Knight, the writer behind Eastern Promises, was originally slated to adapt the screenplay, but was recently replaced by Brown for reasons known only to high ranking Freemasons. Released in 2009, Brown’s third installment of the Robert Langdon saga was the fastest selling adult novel of all time, although for an “adult novel,” I must say there was a lot left to be desired in the “ATM” department.

Many people like to bitch and moan about Brown’s work just because it’s “clichéd” and “poorly written.” Those people need to chill the hell out. What’s the harm? It’s just mindless fun, like having sex with a coma patient. (IndieWire)
