Fidel Castro. Well, not the real Fidel Castro but the guy who played him really well in Steven Soderbergh‘s Che. Demian Bichir is joining Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro, and Emile Hirsch on the project.

‘A Better Life' Trailer Makes You Feel Better About Your Life


Bichir (who is getting high praise for his performance in A Better Life) will play the double-crossing lawyer of the Mexican cartel that’s run by Hayek. Not sure why he’d want to double-cross the Mexican cartel. Seems like a good way to be thrown to the bottom of the sea. Which I guess is too cliche even by brutal cartel standards. They’ll eff him up though. That’s my point.

Still, you might appreciate the trailer since it might make you feel more thankful for the blessings in your life:

“The film looks at the relationship between illegal immigrant Carlos Galindo (Mexican actor Demián Bichir)  and his teenage son, Luis (José Julián). When Carlos’ truck is stolen, the father is powerless to turn to law enforcement, but the crisis brings him closer to his potentially wayward son.”

That sounds a little bit like the Italian neorealist classic The Bicycle Thieves, but with a truck instead of a bike. Sold! (via 24 Frames)
