'X-Men' sequels would feature all the characters who weren't killed in 'X-Men 3'

Just because 20th Century Fox is turning back the clock on the X-Men franchise with the upcoming X-Men: First Class doesn’t mean that the original X-Men series is dead. Everyone loved the last one right? So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the Fox is reportedly planning not only a fourth X-Men movie, but a fifth one as well, according to an interview with producer Lauren Shuler Donner appearing in the latest issue of Empire magazine.

There’s also news about the other myriad project spinning off the X-Men main stem. The most interesting appears to be info about the upcoming Deadpool:

“[I]t’s insane, it’s definitely comedy. But it’s an R script, it’s really irreverent and violent. Right away, we’re out of the X-Men world.”

For those not up on their comic books, Deadpool is a character famous for breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the reader. It remains to be seen if this will happen in the movie version, which would make it like the Annie Hall of X-Men spinoffs.

20th Century Fox has decided to lawyer up against a webmaster who posted the leaked Deadpool script on her online screenplay database. The studio has filed a $15 million suit against Patricia McIlvane on the grounds of copyright infringement. Isn’t reading Deadpool punishment enough?

Though she wasn’t the original source of the leak, McIlvane is being targeted while larger sites like io9 and the original leak have not been targeted. She describes how she received the news on her website:

Two strangers knocked on her door and informed her, in front of her children, 20th Century Fox was suing her for 15 million dollars. Two hours later, after grilling her with questions for two solid hours, they left her stunned and crying in her living room staring at a business card that stated they were “private investigators.”

This was the first contact PJ had from 20th Century Fox regarding a Media Fire online script library she created — and was the day 20th Century Fox filed a law suit against PJ in federal court for fifteen million dollars.

Seems harsh. Whatever happened to a cease and desist? The jokes on Fox though. I don’t think she even has $15 million. They’re going to be really embarrassed when they get to court. (THR)

There's been some rumblings that Warner Bros. wants to move forward with a Green Lantern trilogy, with plans to film the second and third films back-to-back. Which I think is a thinly-veiled ploy to spend more time hanging around Blake Lively. I see what you're doing there, Warners.
However should this happen, it's going to severly screw up the production of the Deadpool movie that nobody wants to see by tying up Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool co-creater Rob Liefeld may or may not have inside knowledge about the project, but he definitely has an opinion on how things should go. From his Twitter:

"Warner Bros. just trying to protect their investment. They don’t want Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool AND Green Lantern. Interesting 2 watch"

"Please direct Deadpool @RobertRdz !!!!! I’m not above begging! Thanks!"

"Bottom line about Deadpool film is that if FOX doesn’t pull the DP film together with Ryan Reynolds between GL films-they should Hari Kari"

"Ryan Reynolds is the new Will Smith, if FOX can’t maximize this window of opportunity with this star, this character, that script=MASSV FAIL"

"You have it reversed @GeekTyrant it’s Warners that wants to film back 2 back GL’s and disrupt Deadpool. Not FOX!! Get it right!"

Nice, GeekTyrant. Now he's all worked up. It's going to be impossible to get him down for his nap now. (via Bleeding Cool)

The ecstasy at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards was off the hook.
Robert Rodriguez has found time in his busy schedule of crap-he'll-never-get-around-to-directing to make room for Deadpool. The LA Times reports that he and 20th Century Fox have begun negotiations. I like to imagine a sleep-deprived Rodriguez propped up Weekend At Bernie's style while they hash out the percentage points. No deal has been worked out as of right now, but we'll let you know when an assistant pushes their hand through Rodriguez's sleeve to sign the papers.
I guess this is exciting news. Rodriguez always has an interesting approach to filmmaking, and I'd much rather see him at the helm than someone like Jonathan Mostow. Besides, this is our best chance to see Cheech Marin play Deadpool.
