DC Comics movies are some of the more popular fantasy films. This company started back in 1934. However, with recent stories about Superman and especially Batman, it's never been a more significant story mill than now.

  1. "Swamp Thing" This movie was directed by Wes Craven. It's about scientist Alec Holland who gets transformed into a monster. He goes after Arcane, the one responsible for this unwanted plastic surgery. His love interest is Alice, played by Adrienne Barbeau.

  2. "Batman Begins" In this DC Comics-inspired movie, Christopher Nolan directs. This time, Christian Bale plays Batman/Bruce Wayne. In this film, we learn of Bruce Wayne's parents deaths and his move to Asia.

  3. "Batman Forever" Joel Schumacher directed this movie, which featured the characters Two-Face and The Riddler. It was also Val Kilmer's turn to play Batman. The Riddler is angry at Batman; he believes Batman is to blame for courtroom accident that messed up his face.

  4. "Superman" This 1978 movie starred Christopher Reeve. Its cast included Marlon Brando and Trevor Howard. Some of this film's primary plot points include when Superman moves to Metropolis and (as Clark Kent) and starts writing for the Daily Planet.

  5. "Superman II" Superman sacrifices his powers to marry Lois. The great Gene Hackman plays Lex Luthor. Superman has his work cut out for him as three bad guys from Krypton are let go from the Phantom Zone due to a nuclear explosion. Of course, they eventually wind up on Earth. In fact, one of their targets is the beautiful Eiffel Tower, which they want to blow up with a hydrogen bomb.

  6. "Batman & Robin" Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Mr. Freeze/Dr. Victor Freeze in this 1997 DC Comics film. George Clooney played Batman/Bruce Wayne. Joel Schumacher directed the film. This finds Batman and Robin bonding, while trying to keep Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from chilling out—in the worst sense of that term—Gotham City. Mr. Freeze wants to turn Gotham City into permanent winter.

  7. "Catwoman" This may be the least loved Batman series film. Even with Halle Berry playing the title role of Catwoman, it failed to please diehard fans. Movie fans just like bats over cats. Nevertheless, this is still a great DC Comics character; a shy girl with the abilities of a cat that travels that gray area between a life of crime and being a hero.

  8. "Green Lantern" In this DC Comics story, a test pilot is given strangely powerful skills with an odd green ring. He also joined an intergalactic squadron. In this film, the Green Lantern must take on a new enemy, Parallax.

  9. "Watchmen" This DC Comics story looks in on a place filled with former superheroes. Zack Snyder directs the film. The story is all about events that have the potential to alter history forever. When one of their own is killed, this causes these superheroes to bond together. The film is set in 1985 and is based around the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union.

  10. "Superman Returns" This is Superman: The Comeback. It finds Superman returning to Earth after a long stay in Krypton for his love, Lois Lane. And while he's there, he saves Earth. One of Superman's big obstacles in this one preventing Lex Luthor from destroying California. Luthor plans to carry out his evil plan using crystals stolen from the Fortress of Solitude.
