After being shelved during MGM‘s financial shitsplosion, Cabin In The Woods, the self-referential take on slasher films written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, is finally ready to see the light of multiplexes. We don’t know when Lionsgate plans to release the Chris Hemsworth-starring film, but we know that at least one frame of it exists. That’s a good sign. (Bloody Disgusting)

When a Fright Night remake was announced I kinda groaned and wondered why that particular tale needed to be told again. Then I saw the trailer and slapped myself a good one for ever having doubted it. I think it looks fantastic and early buzz from advanced screenings backs that up. Here are two new stills that show David Tennant in character as Peter Vincent, the Criss Angel-ized update of the character Roddy McDowall played in the original. You can tell he’s fully-equipped to kill vampires because there’s a decorative cross on his shotgun. Shotguns don’t normally need those. (Shock Til You Drop)

A new trailer for Fright Night gives nerds exactly what they want. Shirtless David Tennant.

The first trailer side-stepped the intro of Tennant’s Criss Angel-type illusionist/vampire hunter, Peter Vincent, but makes up for it this time around. Vincent coaches Anton Yelchin‘s Charlie in how to battle the bloodsucker next door. And it looks like they do have quite the battle. Though in all fairness, whether vampiric or not, the chances of Colin Farrell burning down his neighbor’s house have always been quite high.

Trailer For ‘Fright Night’ Has Everything But Magicians

As the world eagerly anticipated the first trailer for Fright Night, one thing was clear: We would finally get to see David Tennant‘s magician/vampire hunter character in action, perhaps squaring off against Colin Farrell‘s vampire. So imagine my disappointment when I watched this trailer, only to see that there’s not a single magician in the damn thing!

What it does have, though, is Anton Yelchin and McLovin exchanging one-liners, and Colin Farrell as a vampire with the least-threatening vampire name since “Max”: “Jerry.” It actually looks pretty good – it might not be as sexy as Twilight, but it’s a lot funnier and less boring.

The upcoming horror movie Fright Night is threatening to make magicians cool. Wait, did I say “cool”? I meant “just as ridiculous as they were before.” For proof, check out the first of these two new photos from Fright Night. It shows David Tennant as the vampire-hunting magician Peter Vincent.

The second one shows Anton Yelchin and Toni Collette crouching in a burning room. I’ll leave it to you to decide which of these is more interesting. But I will say that the second one doesn’t have anyone even slightly resembling magician Criss Angel. MindFreak! (MovieWeb)

Great googley-moogley. Sofia Vergara has a sister. And she’s hot. And judging from the picture above, that sister has a friend who is a photographer/dentist. But wait, there’s more! She’s also an actress, and has just been cast in Craig Gillespie‘s Fright Night remake.

Sandra Vergara will play the girlfriend and assistant to David Tennant’s magician turned reluctant vampire hunter. F*cking magicians, man. Always pulling top-notch ass. No matter how fugly/creepy/gropey they are as people. Never thought I’d rue the day that I didn’t learn to juggle. (THR)

Notable Geeks Mintz-Plasse and David Tennant Join ‘Fright Night’

In news that is sure to make you say, "Hrrmm, yeah. That’s okay. I guess," Christopher Mintz-Plasse and David Tennant have joined Craig Gillespie‘s Fright Night remake. The pair will use their soft joke-fingers to comically-relieve and tug the laughter out of audiences. Gently at first, but then harder and faster as the film approaches its climax.

Tennant will play Peter Vincent, a character who in the original movie was played by Roddy McDowall as the host of a late-night horror show. In the remake, he’s a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he’s less than helpful.

Mintz-Plasse is playing Evil Ed, Yelchin’s friend who feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire’s coven.

In my experience you need to be careful when a middle-aged man dresses in a cape and claims to be a vampire expert. Last time I did that, the chubby teens at the Hot Topic turned me in to mall security. (THR)
