Seth Grahame-Smith Sells Monsterless Script To Fox

When you want a guy to put monsters in something, you call writer Seth Grahame-Smith. He put monsters into Pride and Prejudice, monsters into Abraham Lincoln‘s biography and now he’s written… hey, something original that he didn’t just put monsters into. Neat.

The Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter scribe just sold a spec screenplay to Fox called From Mia With Love. Mia is the story of three virgin guys who order a Russian bride, in order to lose their v-cards. If they’ve got Russian bride money, why not take a hilarious, mishap-filled road trip to Reno? Well, of course, the hot lady will not sleep with them, but instead of stealing their money and quickly fleeing, she helps them become “more suitable mating material.” Eh, my disbelief can be suspended at least until the first trailer’s released.

This John Hughes-inspired comedy was co-written by David Katzenberg, Kevin Chesley and Bryan Shukoff. Katzenberg is set to direct. (Deadline)

Craig Gillespie Back From The Dead To Direct ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’?

Months ago, it looked like director Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) was at the front of the horde to helm Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Then Lionsgate turned their attention to fresh brains like the team-up of author Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, the son of some other guy named Katzenberg. Lenny Katzenberg, I think.

However, Gillespie seems to have eaten his way back to the top of the list. The rumor is that Lionsgate has told all the other potential directors “thanks, but really no thanks,” and that Gillespie will soon be signed. Jane Austen but with zombies, here he comes? We’ll soon find out. (Deadline)

‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’ Could Find Fresh Brains In Grahame-Smith

Craig Gillespie was the last director we heard who was being considered, and now Lionsgate has turned its attention toward the author of the book, Seth Grahame-Smith, and his partner David Katzenberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s wittle boy. Who better to understand this material than the author of the book (since Tim Burton won’t agree to do it)?

Speaking of Burton, Grahame-Smith is writing Dark Shadows for him. Also, his other book, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, is being made into a film by Timur Bekmambetov, so if he’s chosen to direct Zombies he’ll be one busy bee. Nothing is certain though since Lionsgate is still considering other candidates. I’m sure if you stop one of execs on the street with your reel they’d be more than happy to take a look. (THR)
