Joseph Gordon-Levitt previously shot down rumors of his involvement with Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man, which seemed odd at the time. Turns out, he had his eye on another comic book role. One that will make far less money. JGL has won the role of Dream in Warner Brothers‘ adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman comics. He’ll also step behind the camera, making this his sophomore directing effort.

Adapter of all things comic book, David Goyer, pitched the treatment that Warners are working from but the studio is still looking to bring on a writer to add all of the words and stuff to the script.

As much as I’m excited for Gordon-Levitt and look forward to seeing more of his directorial work, I can’t help but feel for Sean Penn. Dude was robbed. (Deadline)

David Goyer just got an awesome assignment. The Dark Knight Rises and Man Of Steel writer will pen Legendary Pictures‘ new version of Godzilla. Plot details are under wraps but I imagine lots of screaming and running. And maybe there will be other monsters for Big G to chest-bump.

Monsters director Gareth Edwards is also attached which could be really good news. He could be just the director to help us get inside the head of Godzilla and see what makes him tick. He must have dreams. Dreams that don’t involve throwing buildings and orphanages. (Deadline)

It doesn't matter why.David Goyer will write the new Superman movie to be titled The Man of Steel. This doesn't come as much of a surprise considering Dark Knight partner Christopher Nolan is shepherding the project for Warner Brothers, but a welcome one, nonetheless.  Goyer intends to look to the original John Byrne creation for inspiration. Brandon Routh will not star and Bryan Singer is not expected to direct. So in other other words, less gay, more fun. Don't pretend like that's not an accurate description.Goyer's story involves Luthor and Brainiac, and won't be an origin story, so if you don't know anything about Superman you'll be like TOTALLY WTF? Don't worry, we'll watch all the prior films at my house before The Man of Steel hits theaters. I'll bring the popcorn, you bring the Bryan Singer  (LatinoReview)

Are Goyer and Nolan Working on the ‘Batman 3′ Script? http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/are-goyer-and-nolan-working-on-the-batman-3-script/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/movies/movie-news/are-goyer-and-nolan-working-on-the-batman-3-script/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 Oh, hey. Here's some news that's probably nothing. David Goyer has stepped down as FlashForward showrunner to focus on his career in features. This news has sprouted a multitude of nerd boners due to the speculation that he is writing a third Batman film with Jonathan Nolan. But all those plump dork stiffies may be engorged for naught as there has been no official word that Goyer is involved in the project. Nor is there any confirmation that it is even in the scripting phase. Right now it's all speculation stemming from this quote from Deadline Hollywood:"Of course, Goyer's feature career is really heating up, since he co-wrote Batman Begins, and penned the story for The Dark Knight, and is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan's brother Jonah." Fact of the matter is that, as of right now, Christopher Nolan is busy with Inception and Goyer has a lot of feature projects in development, including Super Max, Ghost Rider 2, Magneto, Y: The Last Man, Scanners, The Invisible Man, The Unforgettable, and Here, There Be Dragons. So nerds, please resheath your geek-woodies until we have something more substantial to fluff to. Unless, of course, you're turned on by stories where there be dragons. Pervert. (Deadline Hollywood)

David Goyer says ‘FlashForward’ Will Move Story Forward; ‘Magneto’ Still Alive http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/david-goyer-says-flashforward-will-move-story-forward;-magneto-still-alive/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/david-goyer-says-flashforward-will-move-story-forward;-magneto-still-alive/#comments Wed, 30 Nov -0001 00:00:00 +0000 That compelling storyline is comin' right for us!If you've been devotedly watching FlashForward recently and wishing there wasn't so much lag time in between the juicy, brain-wrinkling turn of events, then get ready to be happy. Screen Junkies got the opportunity to sit down with the show's creator and executive producer David Goyer, and he told us FlashForward is cramming a ton more story into season one than was originally intended:By the end of the season we will have burned through what I think I was originally thinking would be the first two seasons. One thing that we’ve done is we’ve moved things forward. We certainly are responding to some of the fans saying, “Are we not moving fast enough?” So we’ve kind of been given the opportunity now to answer a lot more questions and move faster. I will say that starting with our first two hour, we answer a ton. Answers are so much less infuriating than more questions. Steeped in so much mystery, the show was starting to become as frustrating as trying to figure out where to go to dinner with a girlfriend. "I want to go wherever you want to go. Well I want to go wherever YOU want to go. That's it! We're boiling hot dogs and drinking boxed wine."David Goyer also talked about the development of his current feature projects, including the origin story of X-Men baddie Magneto. He wouldn't give up much, but when asked if Magneto was still in the works, Goyer responded, "Yes."So there you have it, folks. Magneto is definitely maybe going to be hitting theaters sometime soon/never. Let's just hope Ian McKellen is still alive to see the premiere. Celebs are droppin' like flies these days. Don't you give me the stink eye, McKellen.(Source: Fred Topel)

Goyer (The Dark Knight, Blade) and Marc Guggenheim, Executive Producers on the new ABC sci-fi/drama FlashForward.  In it they discuss the confusion over the show's labeled genre, the difficulties of writing a serialized show for today's viewers, and the mysterious date of April 29, 2010, the day the characters experienced their flash forwards.  If you're not aware of the show's premise, basically when a mysterious event causes the entire world to black out for two minutes and seventeen seconds, humanity is given a glimpse into its near future, and every man, woman, and child is forced to come to grips with whether their destinies can be avoided or fulfilled.  Read the interview in full by clicking on Goyer's delightful smile below.
