‘The Social Network’ Trailer Delivers Drama and Radiohead
Thursday, July 15 by

Someone's been watching 'A Beautiful Mind' in their dorm room. The first official full length trailer for David Fincher's The Social Network has dropped, and it is wow. I was a little skeptical after seeing the first and second teaser, but I apologize for doubting the project and may the shadow demons from Ghost have mercy on my soul. The trailer is constructed beautifully. Fincher must have been keeping a choir rendition of Radiohead's "Creep" in his back pocket for years. The song just wouldn't work when synced with Brad Pitt. Most Radiohead tracks don't. The Social Network friends theaters October 1, 2010. Check out the trailer after the jump…

2nd ‘The Social Network’ Teaser Updates Its Status
Thursday, July 8 by

Aaron Sorkin burn. The second teaser for David Fincher's The Social Network has dropped, and it doesn't give us much more than the first one. It swaps bold, dramatic text with scrolling Facebook status updates written by the film's characters. The whole thing seems like a bad idea from a legal standpoint. Why would Mark Zuckerberg want all of his backstabbing documented on the very site that made him millions? And why do none of the updates inform me who's drinking alone tonight, who just heard their favorite song on the radio, and who just made a killer grilled cheese sandwich? It's those mundane details that will cement the realism of the narrative. Check out the second teaser after the jump…

I Want to Friend You Like an Animal: Trent Reznor Scores ‘Social Network’
Friday, July 2 by

Trent just loves FarmVille.Trent Reznor and David Fincher are now friends. At least we assume they are, now that we know the Nine Inch Nails' front man has scored the soundtrack to Fincher's upcoming Facebook docudrama, The Social Network. Hell, at this point, we wouldn't be suprised if they were poking.Reznor, whose music was also featured in the soundtrack for Fincher's Se7en, is a big fan of the director. And like many of his fans, he was confused as to why Fincher would choose to make a film about Facebook. However, after being involved with the project, he seems happy with the end result."I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story," said Reznor before quickly explaining, "It's really f*cking good!"Reznor's involvement in the film is somewhat ironic, given the fact that he made headlines in 2009 (online headlines, not the real kind) for publicly pledging to tune out from online social networks."I will be tuning out of the social networking sites because at the end of the day it’s now doing more harm than good in the bigger picture and the experiment seems to have yielded a result. Idiots rule." (Empire Online)

‘The Social Network’ Teaser Thinks An Awful Lot of Itself
Friday, June 25 by

Columbia Pictures has released the teaser trailer for David Fincher's The Social Network. The minimalist approach seems to love the smell of its own farts. Utilizing voiceover and bold text, Mark Zuckerberg is called a genius and a prophet. He almost made Jesus status, but he has yet to walk on water. …Loser. Regardless, the film is directed by David Fincher which means it's mandatory viewing for humans. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg, Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, and Joe Mazello. It hits theaters October 1, 2010. Check out the TEASER after the jump…

David Fincher’s ‘The Social Network’ Movie Poster
Saturday, June 19 by

Columbia Pictures has released the poster for David Fincher's new film The Social Network. Jesse Eisenberg plays Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook, alongside Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, and Joe Mazello. The film's subject material differs from Fincher's usual M.O., so I'm very curious to see how he tackles "Pokes" and "Add a Friend." Social networking is a far cry from the backwards-aging man of Benjamin Button and the strap-on knife dildo of Se7en. But then again, I guess it all depends on who you follow. (/Film)

Daniel Craig Wants a ‘Dragon Tattoo’
Friday, June 4 by

Daniel Craig hasn't made a movie since 2008, but it looks as if his schedule is about to fill up fast. The actor best known as James Bond is close to nabbing the part of Mikael Blomkvist in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The film is the first in a three-part series based on the crime novels of Stieg Larsson, and Craig is expected to sign on for all three installments.Rumor has it that Brad Pitt was close to landing the role, but was "edged out" when a bikini-clad Craig showed up at David Fincher's house and offered to wash the director's car. Fincher filmed the wash, and was so impressed by Craig's physique the he offered him the job on the spot. True story. (Collider)

We Lust After David Fincher’s ‘Se7en’ on Blu Ray DVD
Tuesday, May 18 by

'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.' And it looks awesome in Blu Ray!David Fincher's Se7en is getting the Blu Ray treatment, meaning you'll soon see the bloated corpse of the fatass who ate himself to death in high definition, as God the father intended. The disk will be loaded with extras, including audio commentaries, alternate endings and full motion video details of "John Doe´s" creepy notebook writings. No word yet on the case, but hopefully it will resemble the box with the severed head. I think that'd be neat!Se7en on Blu Ray hits stores September 14th. (DreadCentral)

David Fincher to Direct Jules Verne’s ‘Fight Sub’
Sunday, May 16 by

The first rule of Fight Sub: you don't let McG direct Fight Sub.Director David Fincher is in talks with Disney to direct a remake of Jules Verne’s classic submarine adventure, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Fincher is attempting to resurrect the project first helmed by McG, the famed auteur behind Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Korn: Who Then Now?Disney reportedly dropped McG from the project because they believed his take on the film was too dark. If you're looking for more light-hearted fare, Fincher is the obvious choice. I'm sure the scene where Captain Nemo finds his wife's severed head in a box will be a real knee slapper. (EmpireOnLine)

Hollywood’s Leading Starlets All Vying for ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Role
Friday, May 7 by

Every young actress in Hollywood is vying for the lead in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It's like their Captain America.Executives at Sony insist that they are nowhere near casting the part, but Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page, Kristen Stewart, Mia Wasikowska, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Thirlby, and Scarlett Johannsen are actively campaigning for the role all the same. Mulligan has lunched with the screenwriter and Page has written a heartfelt note to the producer. Johannsen gave Hathaway an upper-decker and Kristen Stewart has just kinda stood around looking emo. Despite these sincere attempts, director David Fincher may cast an unknown for the part because he feels the material is strong enough to not require a name actress.Although Brad Pitt has reportedly been offered the male lead. They should just cast Angelina. I'm sure she has a dragon tattooed on her someplace. (Deadline)

David Fincher May Move On ‘Pawn Sacrifice’ or Needle ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
Monday, March 15 by

"Are those Bagel Bites?!!"Columbia is eager to work with David Fincher again after seeing him work on The Social Network. Variety is reporting that he's attached to re-up with the studio for Pawn Sacrifice, a movie about chess nerd Bobby Fischer's 1972 match against Boris Spassky. That sounds exciting, huh? Well, more exciting than Ridley Scott's Monopoly anyway. But Variety is also reporting that Fincher has his eye on the US remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (which sounds more like a Fountains of Wayne song than it does a movie). Also note that Fincher may be involved with the 3D version of Heavy Metal as well as his previously reported HBO series. It's doubtful that he'll take on all these projects due to his demanding schedule. Same old story. You know how he is. I'm still waiting for him to clean out the damn rain gutters like he promised he was gonna do. (Variety)

David Fincher and Charlize Theron Team Up to Bring CBS Show to HBO
Thursday, January 28 by

Charlize Theron and David Fincher are teaming up to develop the book "Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit," into a series for HBO. The show is shedding the marblemouth title and sticking with the more simplistic Mind Hunter. Not to be confused with Renny Harling's crap-terpiece Mind Hunters, starring Christian Slater and LL Cool J.The book, by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker, recounts Douglas's experience as a top FBI investigator of serial killers and rapists and his profiling techniques. So it's essentially an HBO version of CBS's Criminal Minds. The main difference being this version will have swears and no soap actors. This isn't a bad idea at all. Fincher and Theron both have proven track records, and there's no way this show will give any serial killers the edge in the War On Killing People. If there's one thing that movies have taught me, methodical serial killers HATE complex games of cat and mouse. It's right up there with sending menacing letters to newspapers on their list of dislikes. (Collider)

First Pic of Timberlake’s Regrown Wavy Locks in ‘The Social Network’
Wednesday, December 2 by

For his new film 'The Social Network,' David Fincher must have demanded that Justin Timberlake go back to his boy band roots…literally! The literally meaning that his hair is wavy again, just like it was back when he sang and danced as a glorified slave to a fat man with a record contract. In the film that chronicles the rise of Facebook (the site where you tell people who don't care that you're "so over" something insignificant), Timberlake plays founder Sean Parker.Eh, they kiiiiiinda look alike, but I'd say Sean's hair is more curly than wavy. Who's with me? Who's with me?! Anyway, I'm sure there's much more to come from the set of 'The Social Network,' but until we get additional news I'm just going to assume that the staunch and laborious Fincher is making Timberlake cry a river on a daily basis: "No, you're typing like a pussy, 'N-Suck!"(via DailyMail)

“BLOOD SIMPLE” IS BEING REMADE IN CHINA
Wednesday, June 24 by

In the past seven years we've seen a glut of Asian movies remade on our shores. Some of them fantastic, others craptastic. Well, now it looks like the shoe is on the other foot. The Playlist reports that House of Flying Daggers director Zhang Yimou is remaking the Coen Brothers classic Blood Simple in his homeland of China. I hope this does well and leads to more retreads on foreign soil because I personally would love to see a Japanese version of Goodfellas. How great would that be? All the gangsters would dress like Elvis and gesture wildly like Lenny and Squiggy. "What's that? You think I'm clown? I amuse you, hound dog?"Oh my God. This film needs to be made. Somebody get Japan on the phone. Perhaps I can interest you in these other morning headlines…Avatar footage screened at Cinema Expo. Jaws subsequently dropped.
