Little bit racist there, Jake.

Nominado Al Oscar Jake Gyllenhaal and the excellent Michael Pena co-star as cops on the streets of Los Angeles in this first trailer for End Of Watch, which is apparantly a found footage film. It’s like Cloverfield with Mexicans.

The video diary aesthetic places us right in the action and gives us a good sense of what life on the streets is like for a Los Angeles cop. They crack jokes with Mexicans, go to Mexican weddings, and get in gun fights with Mexicans. I think Mickey Rourke would be a much more fitting title for this film.

It's far time that Jake Gyllenhaal add 'police officer' to the back of his head shot.

It’s far time that Jake Gyllenhaal add ‘police officer’ to the back of his head shot. He’s in early talks to join David Ayer‘s gritty police drama End Of Watch.

It sounds like another generic cop movie but it so isn’t, you guys. Though there aren’t too many details, it’s said the story centers on the friendship between two seasoned partners. But probably less in the awesome Lethal Weapon way, and more in the ‘I think my partner is corrupt’ kind of way. No word yet on who will partner up with Gyllenhaal, but let’s hope that they are a kind and conscientious partner with the shred of decency it takes to not put their muddy feet on the squad car dash. Officer Jake just Armor All’ed. (Variety)

Ah, now all the kids on my bus route will get my Commando references. Fox has hired David Ayer (Harsh Times, Street Kings) to write and direct a remake of THE BEST FILM EVER. A former Navy soldier, Ayer is putting his own real world spin on the character formerly played by Schwarzenegger. This time around, the elite commando on a mission to rescue his daughter will be "less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry."Ayer now needs to figure out how to make the film car-centric. That's the only bump on the road to getting Jason Statham to agree to star. (Deadline)
