‘Sex And The City’ Creator To Take On A Comedy From A Toddler’s Point Of View

Deadline is calling it “Modern Family from a toddler’s point of view.” I’m calling it “something to report on a slowish news day.” Darren Star, who has previously ventured into the world of the self-involved with 90210, Melrose Place, and Sex and the City, will now be tackling an adaptation of The Honest Toddler: A Child’s Guide to Parenting.

I’m so happy that this will mesh with our readership’s taste. Screen Junkies readers LOVE stories based on child-raising books. Oh, it warrants mentioning that the series of books is based on a Twitter account that was created during a particularly trying day for a housewife.

It’s not quire the the origin story of 50 Shades of Grey, but it’s still bad enough to report.

‘Sex And The City’ Prequel Series Will Show Us How They All Became So Shrill And Insufferable

Yeah, this is something that’s happening. Sex and the City will be back, in prequel form on the CW, presumably to cater to the younger set with even baser, more euphemistic puns and the promise of side-al nudity. The program will be called The Carrie Diaries, which probably tested well in focus groups because The Carrie Diaries sounds like something that would have tested pretty well in focus groups.

Because Sarah Jessica played a character that was roughly 78 years old on the HBO version, The Carrie Diaries will begin with Carrie’s senior year in small-town America. “From the big farm to the big apple.”

That’s what a tagline will probably be.

A young (read: 63 or so) Samantha will join Carrie in her small town exploits, but she will be the only one of the NYC guard joining Carrie, which reinforces my theory that Stanford was the result of a secret government experiment to make the perfect homosexual stereotype.

In case you couldn’t have just assumed, the show will be produced by Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Original SATC creator Darren Star isn’t attached to the CW version, which means that the show will find a totes new way to be horrible.

HBO’s ‘The Viagra Diaries’ Will Make Us Long For ‘Sex And The City’

Darren Star, in an effort to punish critics who spoke out against Carrie and the gang in Manhattan, will show us just how uncomfortable and gross things REALLY could have been. He will be adapting for HBO “The Viagra Diaries” (Diaries! They’re not just for princesses, nannies, and vampires anymore!), which is based on Barbara Rose Booker’s novel about sex among seniors in Manhattan.

Star, who was the “brain”power behind “Sex and the City,” will be adapting this novel with Goldie Hawn starring as the lead. If this goes through, HBO will completely OWN the “old people having sex on TV” market. Sex among seniors hasn’t historically received much attention from TV or film, and with good reason. It’s gross and weird, and people who have grandparents that are still alive don’t need to be thinking about that shit.

Stand by for Star’s next project, “Love at the End,” a series about people with terminal illnesses that discuss love and sex in the last year of their lives. In Manhattan. (That’s a joke. Please don’t plant that seed.)
