‘Spider-Man’ Director Teams With ‘Black Swan’ Writer For Sure-To-Be-Weird Sci-Fi Movie
Wednesday, January 26 by

There’s nothing weirder than a crazy ballerina who lezes out and thinks she’s turning into an evil bird, so writing a straight up sci-fi movie should be a cakewalk for screenwriter Mark Heyman.

Darren Aronofsky Scares Away Method Actors
Tuesday, November 30 by

Darren Aronofsky’s movies usually require intense performances, so you’d think the director would welcome the most intense method actors he could find. Actually, it’s the exact opposite.

Aronofsky Says ‘Black Swan’ Is Just ‘The Wrestler’ With Chicks
Sunday, November 14 by

Darren Aronofsky would like you to see his new film, Black Swan, as a companion to his previous Oscar nominated The Wrestler. Maybe they’ll show as a double feature. Black Swan is about a ballet dancer (Natalie Portman) losing her grip with reality, and The Wrestler was about a steroid monster trying to make up with his daughter.

Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Wolverine’ Sequel Will Be A Standalone Film
Sunday, November 14 by

Darren Aronofsky discussed some of his plans for the Wolverine sequel, and it sounds like this could be a really good movie about a guy who has knives jutting out of his metacarpus.

Review: Black Swan
Friday, November 5 by

Black Swan is some classic Darren Aronofsky crazy. If you missed the high style of Requiem for a Dream or the abstract interpretive level of The Fountain, they’re back. Yet it’s also set in a physical world like The Wrestler, so maybe I can work Pi into this comparison somehow too.

Aronofsky Watch: ‘Machine Man’ In His Sights
Tuesday, October 26 by

Darren Aronofsky is a busy, busy bee. Not only is he set to start production on Wolverine 2 in a matter of months, but now the director has signed on for cybernetic thriller Machine Man. He'll reteam with Black Swan co-writer Mark Heyman on the script. THR has the deets:
Described as an "amped up pop-thriller," the story centers on a gadget geek and engineer at a forward thinking tech firm who is tired of going through life average and unnoticed and is also obsessed with his own self improvement. He decides to replace his weak, fleshy parts with high-end titanium performance upgrades of his own design but then discovers other entities have designs on him for their own motives.
So…kind of like a Robocop/Wolverine mash-up? Aronofsky is really loving the melding of flesh and steel lately. If he doesn't get his fix quick, we could have another Terminator sequel on our hands. And need I remind you, Schwarzenegger will be out of the Governor's office and begging for a job within months.

Aronofsky Watch: One More Step Closer to ‘Wolverine 2′
Monday, October 18 by

The Darren Doppler is tweakin' again. Aronofsky's deal to direct Wolverine 2 is so close to being a real thing that Fox is already talking about concessions of the un-Sour Patch Kids variety. The studio will allow Aronofsky to shoot the sound stage portions of the film in New York so the filmmaker and Hugh Jackman can still go home to their families at night. Production will begin in March, after Aronofsky has had time to pimp Black Swan to the press. After the New York scenes have been shot, the production will move to Japan, far, far away from any wives and kids. You know what that means… Both guys will finally have time to finish The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest novel. They can't wait to see how the Millenium Trilogy ends. (Deadline)

Darren Aronofsky Watch: One Step Closer To ‘Wolverine 2′
Tuesday, October 12 by

In further Awesome Directors Making Batsh*t Decisions news, Darren Aronofsky is one step closer to directing Wolverine 2, the sequel to a movie that starred Will.I.Am and featured a guy causing a tank to explode by punching it in the cannon.
There was some debate online whether he would choose the comic book movie, or go with Tales From The Gangster Squad late last week. He's reportedly passed on Gangster Squad, leaving his schedule wide-open for Wolvie. Though, no deal is in place and we've heard no official word from his reps, it's likely he'll parlay Black Swan's Oscar buzz into instructing Hugh Jackman to growl. Or he could choose to do a good movie. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, Nikki Minaj should probably practice surfing on nuclear warheads. (Deadline)

‘Wolverine’ Shmolverine: Aronofsky Offered ‘Tales from the Gangster Squad’
Thursday, October 7 by

Yesterday, everyone on the Internet was reporting that Darren Aronofsky was taking on the Wolverine sequel. Well hold your damn horses. Now, Empire Online is reporting that Warner Bros. has made a counter offer that might just land the director in their camp: a 40's era period piece called Tales from the Gangster Squad.
Tales from the Gangster Squad follows the exploits of Sergeant John O’Mara’s off-the-books team of police mercenaries, who targeted mob-linked gangster Mickey Cohen and his attempts to bring East Coast organised crime firmly into LA. Originally chronicled in a series of LA Times articles by Paul Lieberman, the script has been penned by cop-turned-writer Will Beall.
That's a tough call. Both films sound like a good fit for Aronofsky. It reminds me a little of Sophie's Choice, except for this I'm going to stay tuned to find out what happens instead of switching over to "Real World/Road Rules Challenge" (Sorry, Sophie).

So, This Happened: Darren Aronofsky Chosen To Direct ‘Wolverine 2′
Wednesday, October 6 by

"SNIKT!!"
We'd heard the rumors but they sounded too crazy to even qualify. Yet somehow, against all laws of nature, Darren Aronofsky is in talks to direct Wolverine 2. Aronofsky surpassed rumored shoe-in David Slade to win the honor of directing the second film in this so far pretty sh*tty franchise, just days after it was announced that Zack Snyder won the Superman directing duties.
May be a case of Justin Bieber punk'n us all, but if not, at least we have a director who can artfully convey Wolverine's frustration with the world that won't accept him as he surfs on a missile or whatever ridiculous action set-piece makes its way into this film.
Where this leaves Preacher or movies that are a good idea for Aronofsky to do, we do not know. But if you ask me, this move is in direct reaction to the failure of The Wrestler action-figure line. Apart from the Marisa Tomei Lapdancer dolls, those things just didn't sell. (Deadline)

It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Darren Aronofsky Directing Superman?
Tuesday, September 28 by

Director Darren Aronofsky is on the list of possible diectors for Christopher Nolan's upcoming Superman project, Heat Vision is reporting. Aronofsky joins a group that already includes Duncan Jones, Tony Scott and Matt Reeves.
But with Aronofsky in the running, there is also talk that another director has been ruled out…
Ben Affleck, who is soaring after The Town became both a critical and commercial hit, and who actually played superman (or at least the man who became known for him, George Reeves) in Hollywoodland, took a meeting about possibly taking the job, but has apparently moved on to other things.
Something tells me that Affleck moving on to other things before hearing back from the producers is a lot like me moving on with my love life before hearing back from Salma Hayek…or those lawyers, of hers. (Empire Online)

Darren Aronofsky Enters The ‘Wolverine 2′ Race
Monday, August 30 by

David Slade would be wise not to decorate his home office with Wolverine action figures just yet. Though it was believed that the helmer of Hard Candy and assorted vampire movies was a shoe-in for the Wolverine Goes To Japan directing gig, a new contendor has emerged. Granted, he's a highly-unlikely candidate, but Darren Aronofsky's hat has somehow been thrown into the ring. Whether he threw that hat himself, or some neighbor kid bully threw it in the ring just to be a jerk remains to be seen.
Given Aronofsky's body of work, I'm going to go ahead and rule him out. The X-Men films have been twisted into goofy, popcorn wannabe-action films, and Wolverine is no exception. Though if anyone could lend some gravity to the material, it's Aronofsky. Look what he did for Marlon Wayans. (Deadline)

Hot Girl-On-Girl Metamorphosis Action In ‘Black Swan’ Trailer
Tuesday, August 17 by

I'll never have to Photoshop them kissing again.
I'd be lying if I didn't say that reporting on Darren Aronosky's Black Swan hasn't been a rocky road. First, we were promised girl-on-girl between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. Then, we were told no Natalie boobs. Then we saw some freaky pics. And now we have video of the stars kissing and touching one another's naughty bits. This marks the first time I've ever been turned on by something Kafkaesque. I guess there's a film trailer attached to that footage too. If you're into that kind of thing.
If you're still reading, the trailer is after the jump…

‘Robocop’ Remake Is Officially Dead
Tuesday, July 27 by

I'm sad to report that those of us waiting to see a poignant, arthouse remake of a film about a part robot, part human cop who walks through walls and fights cyber-ninjas are to be left wanting. Darren Aronofsky's long-in-the-works, inexplicable remake of Robocop has officially been scrapped. The collapse of the project was came about for two reasons: MGM's money problems, and Darren Aronofsky's realizing that he is Darren Aronofsky. (Moviehole)

Natalie Portman Is A Hot Swan In ‘Black Swan’ Pics
Thursday, July 22 by

Darren Aronofsky will open the Venice International Film Festival with his pyschological thriller Black Swan. USA Today has a first look at the film and it looks like Aronofsky didn't hold back. The visual style he's achieved in these few snapshots are elegant, mysterious, and foreboding. Natalie Portman stars as a stressed-out ballerina whose life takes odd turns after she is cast as the lead in Swan Lake.
There's a few more pictures after the jump. Though the one of Mila and Natalie seems tame. I'd much rather see other pictures of them. If you know what I'm sayin'. **suggestively bumps two doughnuts together, gets ejected from Tim Horton's**

Brad Pitt and Darren Aronofsky May Play Nice For ‘The Tiger’
Wednesday, May 12 by

After having wrestled free from the clutches of Hollywood's strongest cougar, Brad Pitt is eyeing another big cat. Variety reports that Pitt may finally team up with Darren Aronofsky for The Tiger. Don't believe me? F you:[The Tiger] takes place on the Siberian plain, where human development is encroaching on the tigers’ habitat — and one tiger turns on the intruders. With townspeople being tracked and hunted with an almost supernatural power, a conservationist game warden must face down the tiger. It is a fight that only one of them can win. This marks the third time that Brad Pitt and Darren Aronofsky have almost worked together. Pitt has previously dropped out of two Aronofsky projects, The Fountain and The Fighter. Aronofsky was salty about it in the past but it looks like he's willing to let bygones be bygones. Either that or he's trying to feed Brad Pitt to a tiger. Revenge is a dish best served cold. And by tigers.

Darren Aronofsky and Rachel Weisz to Make Me Cry With ‘Jackie’
Thursday, April 15 by

Darren Aronofsky and his affianced are hellbent on giving America the frownies. The hot spec script Jackie, about the immediate days following President Kennedy’s assassination, is getting the big screen treatment with Academy-Award winning actress Rachel Weisz attached to play the late first lady. Weisz’s fiancee, director Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler), will direct and produce, along with his producing partner Scott Franklin and their Protozoa Pictures film company. Jackie catalogs the four days between JFK’s assassination and his burial, showing the beloved Jackie at both her most vulnerable and her most graceful. No deal is in place yet but it's expected to be soon. I can hear the manipulative music swelling and see the interspersment of actual funeral footage now. But I will not cry dammit. I will not. I just plan on thinking about something else. Thanks, Jackee. (EW)

Aronofsky Back on ‘Robocop’, Sam Worthington May Star
Thursday, April 1 by

Last we heard, Darren Aronofsky had decided to walk from the troubled Robocop remake due to his unwillingness to present the film in gimmicky 3D. It appears that he and the cash-strapped MGM have worked something out and he's ready to create the future of law enforcement according to our source. An insider at Digital Dimension has confirmed their company has been conducting visual effects tests and have received a great deal of feedback from Aronofsky. Word is that he "just loves the stuff." Our tipster also made mention that Sam Worthington is very likely to fill the role of Officer Murphy. It's his role to lose from what we've been told. Of course, Worthington's schedule is jam-packed with the adaptations of Dan Dare and The Last Days of American Crime and there's no official word when Robocop will ramp up. Though it is expected that Aronofsky is deciding between that or Serena with hot mom Angelina Jolie as his next project. We'll keep you posted. We realize this news sounds dodgy so to sweeten the pot we have an EXCLUSIVE look at early composite from Digital Dimension AFTER THE JUMP…

Angelina Jolie to Team with Darren Aronofsky
Monday, March 1 by

Angelina Jolie can't decide which movie-I'll-never-see to do next. First there were reports that she dropped out of Wanted 2 in favor of Alfonso Cuaron's stranded on a spacestation drama Gravity. Word today is that she's not part of Gravity and is circling a project with Darren Aronofsky. The director and star are both looking to join an adaptation of Serena: A Novel. If the project does come to fruition, Serena: A Movie would star Jolie as the wife of a timber magnate in the woods of 1929 North Carolina. She would use the awesome powers of her vagina to convince him to commit increasingly ruthless acts. Later when she learns that she cannot conceive a child she decides that adoption is sooo 2002 and that murdering her husband's illegitimate son is the new hotness. Both Jolie and Aronofsky are waiting for a new script and budget before signing on to the evil vagina movie. I just wish that Angelina would learn to use that thing for good. Think of all the wars she could stop. (THR)

No Natalie Portman Boobs For You!
Thursday, January 7 by

You can leave your bottle of Jergen's at home when you go to see The Black Swan, fellas. The hot, angry, lesbian, ballerina sex that we previously reported would take place between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis is going to be filmed with the aid of breast doubles. Portman tells UK Elle that she will never show her naughty bits on the big screen."I'm definitely not a prude about sex or nudity, I just don't want do something that will end up as a screen grab on a porn site so meanwhile I'm doing halfsies – I'm like, 'I'll show my butt but not my boobs',"I'm sure perverts the world over are saddened by this news but bear in mind that she is an actress, not an object. It's difficult for young women to always be taken seriously in Hollywood and I salute her convictions. I urge you perverts to as well. OH! GROSS GUYS!!! THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SALUTE!!! (UK Elle via The Playlist)

Studio Mogul-Man Brings ‘Spider-Man 4′ and ‘Robocop’ to a Halt
Wednesday, January 6 by

Studio Mogul-Man has struck again! Due to his evil meddling, the Spiderman-4 and Robocop remake have grinded to a halt like a saw blade headed straight for your crotch. In the case of Spider-Man, Sam Raimi and Sony are butting heads over their villain of choice. Raimi wants The Vulture, and Sony, obviously haters of the evil avian variety, wants a romantic subplot involving Spidey and the Black Cat. In addition to the feline, they'd also like another antagonist, but that will probably turn into another fifteen. Maybe they can all gang rape Spider-Man in a orgy of CGI, 3D, and sticky webbing. As far as Robocop, Darren Aronofsky has left the project after refusing to turn it into an orgy of CGI, 3D, and why not some sticky webbing too. Mary Parent, Chairperson of MGM, is clearly looking to capitalize on the success of Avatar, and Aronofsky isn't interested in made-up worlds that don't exist except in computers. Robocop is awesome because it's gritty and real, not because ED209 is poking you in the eye with his hand-cannon.Spider-man 4 will most likely hit theaters before Robocop, but with Studio Mogul-Man on the loose, who knows what other havoc he could bring to the projects before they reach fruition.(via THR and Moviehole)

‘The Wrestler’ Grindhouse Mashup Trailer
Wednesday, October 21 by

YouTuber jkpyle posted this impressive mashup trailer, which runs Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler through the grindhouse. What comes out is as bloody and chills-inducing as Randy "The Ram" Robinson's hand after he caught it in the deli slicer.
