It sounds a lot like a lot of other things. Like, A LOT of other things.

Bret Easton Ellis is moonlighting from his steady employment as a Twitter writer to put together a teen drama on The CW with fellow teen drama experts Catherine Hardwick (Twilight director) and Josh Schwartz (creator of Gossip Girl and The O.C.) to paste together Copeland Prep, a drama with a bad title that will feature feature rich kids who are so competitive that they turn into actual monsters.

So it’s Twilight meets Rules of Attraction(ish) meets Cruel Intentions meets Gossip Girl meets The Vampire Diaries. Oh it’s also Buffy a lot.

With all those source materials, one must wonder how Bret Easton Ellis is going to put his own mark on this project.

What’s that? He’s gonna make them sexy and depraved?

Well there you go, then.

"'Oh Sit!'? More like...'Oh F*ck!'"

Let it be known that the evening of August 15th was the night in which the world stopped asking, “When, oh when will musical chairs be less mundane, more extreme, and, most importantly, broadcast on a second-tier national network?”

Tonight premieres Oh Sit! a game show that is touting itself musical chairs, that game that stopped being fun to play at age 3, with a twist. An EXTREME twist. I have no further details, sadly.

Nor do I want them.

If you’re at all curious about who the ad wizards are that came up with this one, then you’ll want to budget 45 seconds from 8:06 to 8:06:45 to click over to the channel, say “Huh. That’s more extreme than the musical chairs contests I recall,” then get back to watching preseason Jacksonville Jaguars football, or whatever.

"Get ON your ass!" CW now owes me $10,000 because I just wrote this show's tagline.

In an effort to see how many 50 year-old men they can get to reach for the remote in disgust while mumbling about who puts this crap on the air, the CW has greenlit a musical chairs game show, which we initially reported was titled Extreme Musical Chairs. So now, the CW brings you Oh, Sit!, which is cute enough to make you momentarily smile and forget how f*cking stupid this show is going to be. This idea seriously had to have been picked up off the floor of the Portlandia writers’ room.

After four months, the producers decided that while a game show depicting games of musical chairs was still an excellent, excellent idea, the name “Extreme Musical Chairs” didn’t really shift the paradigm or speak to Joe Six-Pack. As such, they decided that the name should speak to a Joe Six-Pack, provided that Joe Six-Pack belonged to a Williamsburg softball league and that six pack was made up of Pabst tall boys.

It's not just you. The world is getting dumber.

Having all but thrown in the towel in the battle against cable channels for quality programming, the CW is working on developing Extreme Musical Chairs, a reality TV competition that will incorporate physically demanding challenges in a multiple elimination tournament set on an indoor course.

Wow. I’m already bored with this program, and it hasn’t even been made yet.

I guess they could use this concept as a pulpit for new musical acts, but let’s face it, it’s going to be Bruno Mars, Cage the Elephant, and Drake.

This show demonstrates the initiative undertaken by the station to appeal to a broader audience, with most of their previous reality programming towards “young femmes” (that’s marketing speak for “girls”) with an emphasis on fashion and celebs. So dumb girls. The channel was marketing previous programs to dumb girls. Now they’re reaching out with Extreme Musical Chairs, programming that can be appreciated by dumb everyone.

As the television season comes to a close, and we prepare ourselves for a summer full of crappy cast-away shows and reality TV, the networks are hard at work deciding which new pilots to green light to series for the fall. And while it’s never fair to judge a book by its cover, that won’t stop us from judging pilots by their titles and log lines.

We’ve compiled 10 current pilots being considered at the five major networks: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and CW. Can you match all 10 titles to their corresponding log line (that means “description,” for those of you who aren’t in the biz)? Check out the quiz below and see if you have what it takes.

Maggie Q is busy up in Toronto kicking butt on the set of her new CW show “Nikita.” The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills got a sneak peak at the second episode last night. The rest of us get to see it tonight. Executive producer Craig Silverstein was there to tell us about the sexy, badass movies Q will unleash in the next few weeks.

More after the jump…

“In the fourth episode, she takes on about six guys at once in a sweatshop with a telescoping baton,” Silverstein said. “It is probably the coolest sequence we have up to that point. It’s really amazing. In the episode we’re going to screen tonight, there’s Maggie behind a 50 caliber sniper rifle which is always cool. She fights Michael (Shane West) in the third episode.”

When you’re playing a rogue assassin trying to take down your evil agency, it’s pretty serious stuff. Silverstein wants to give Nikita a few lighter moments for the sake of Maggie Q. “She’s really, really funny and she has a very edgy and dark sense of humor, which is something that I didn’t know before I met her. There’s not a lot of chances for Nikita to crack jokes but since she’s so funny, we’re trying to figure out how we can make that work in the show.”

Maybe all you know about “Nikita” is those giant billboards of Maggie Q’s leg with the phoenix tattoo on her hip. That’s enough to make you watch anyway. “[CW Marketing EVP] Rick Haskins masterminded the billboard campaign but the tattoo is all Maggie,” Silverstein said.

“Nikita” is based on the French film “La Femme Nikita,” the USA series “La Femme Nikita” and I guess als the American remake “Point of No Return.” But, this is the first time Nikita has turned on Division. It’s after the events of those other movies and shows, but you’ll still see new recruits trained to be assassins.

“It’s a sequel and you’re also getting the origin story through Alex (Lindsy Fonseca) so it’s a bit of a remake. So it’s a sequake, okay? It’s a cross between a sequel and a remake. It’s a sequake, TM, © Registered.”

If you’re a little confused about how the timing of all that works, don’t worry. They’ve got it all mapped out. “Believe me, we’re all about the math. We have a giant timeline in our writer’s room that says what happened when and where.”

“Nikita” airs Thursday nights on The CW.
