Hitting theaters before Simon Pegg‘s The World’s End and Seth Rogen’s This Is The End, comes Rapturepalooza. The film stars actors from the Apatow and Edgar Wright camps that didn’t end up in those other films but still wanted to participate in some isn’t-it-weird-the-world-is-ending hijinks. Anna Kendrick and John Francis Daley star as a young couple squaring off against Craig Robinson‘s Anti-Christ. The supporting cast includes Ken Jeong, Thomas Lennon, Tyler Labine, Rob Huebel, Ana Gasteyer, Paul Scheer, and Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World’s Rob Corddry. No more world ending films after these. ‘Kay, guys?

We watch Spacey’s inventor character fall from grace, only to be released from prison ten years later to pick up the pieces with his career, wife, and daughter. Also, he gets yelled at by his boss at Wal-Mart, Johnny Knoxville.

The trailer manages to walk the line between heartwarming and saccharine pretty well, and it even humanizes Kevin Spacey. So it does the impossible twice. Way to go, director Trent Cooper. Way to go, EVERYONE.

The Elmore Leonard-based project touches on a number of subjects, but predominately focuses on aging hippie radicals that use their criminal skills to get their hands on some cold, hard cash. Glover will play a movie mogul that is a mark for a pair of hippie con men.

It’s hard to know what to make of this pu-pu platter of actors, but the idea of Glover and Frazer bouncing their unique brands of crazy off of the unflappable Craig Robinson is reason enough to get me behind this film. Walter Matthau’s son Charles has the pleasure (pain?) of helming this little jaunt. Hope he’s wearing a tinfoil helmet.

Elmore Leonard works always have the eye of filmmakers, and no less than Quentin Tarantino wanted to get his hands on this particular one, though he couldn’t quite work out the timeline in the book. Originally, the book took place in the late-80′s after they had been in the game for a while. Naturally, this meant that the work leant itself to an older ensemble cast, which audiences have viewed as gimmicky with works such as Space Cowboys and Red.

Well, a tweak here and a date change their gives us a younger, funny cast that gets to work with Leonard’s killer source material. Couple that with the fact that stodgy movie critics will be forced to utter “freaky deaky,” and everything seems to be coming up roses from this project.

“Ben and Lindsey try to reestablishing their sandwich cart business. Beyond the occasional blood rainstorm and talking locusts that surface occasionally, the sandwich sellers have a new problem: the Anti-Christ (Robinson) decides he wants to take Lindsey as his bride.”

This sounds a little like an indie-comedy version of Little Nicky, the Adam Sandler movie about the devil‘s son that featured Henry Winkler covered in bees. Still not that good though, so hopefully Rapturepalooza will be better.

No info on the rest of the cast yet – maybe some of the Phelps clan want to get into acting? (via Deadline)

I had the opportunity to travel to Lake Tahoe for the Hot Tub Time Machine junket, and for some reason they put me in a cabin with the film’s stars and a few cameras. I decided to take advantage of the serendipitous moment and ask Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, and Crispin Glover some questions about the film. Now mind you, we all attended an 80s party the night prior where free beer and wine was served so you should appreciate how coherent everyone is, and funny on top of that. The cast discusses working naked together in a hot tub, Cusack’s Better Off Dead flashbacks, and the phenomenon that is Teen Wolf Pug.

Don’t worry, there’s a chick involved, and it’s from their upcoming movie Hot Tub Time Machine, not some grainy, stolen sex tape. The scene perfectly portrays the overall tone of the film. It’s fun, raunchy, and chock full of set pieces that will have you grinning to LOLing.

A new poster for Hot Tub Time Machine goes beyond the red band trailer to reveal the secret of time travel. Scientists are going to kick their own asses in the balls when they see how simple the formula was all along. Using simple algebra, one combines energy drink, vodka, and a squirrel. Add that to four mismatched friends and divide the sum by a hot tub.

Let’s sincerely hope those components do not actually unlock space and time. Ted Nugent probably has a hot tub and more than likely he’s tripping over crunk juice and squirrels. I don’t want to imagine a reality where he has traveled back through time and become our overlord. He’ll hunt us all. (EW)

I’ve heard of a night of wild drinking, but this is ridiculous (Rim shot. Fart.)! The new trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine just materialized and it’s got a bit of a retro vibe to it. First of all, John Cusack must be having the biggest mindf*cking of his life after being dropped back in to Better Off Dead. After that wild winter why would he ever want to go back to the slopes?

Hot Tub stars Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke as friends who after a night of drinking Red Bulls and vodkas, and supposedly not playing "let’s compare penises" in a whirlpool, travel back to the 80s, where all the people they know in the present are younger, and there are cassette tapes. Holy sh*t! My guess is there will be a ton of jokes based on the fact that things are different in the world now. Fingers crossed there’s one about ungroomed pubic hair. Women’s businesses be nasty back then.
