You can sort through hundreds of articles, or you can read this piece in about four minutes to figure out what happened this year.

Comic-Con 2012 has come and gone, leaving movie and television fans with a lot of answers, almost as many questions, and convention goers with the lingering question of what the hell they’re going to do with a zombie Stormtrooper costume for the next 360 days.

Comic-Con has long existed to serve niche interests in entertainment and comics, but over the years, the “niche” has grown to include more and more topics of interest to general entertainment fans. Consequently, the comings and goings of Comic-Con fall into two camps: stuff movie fans might care about and stuff only nerds will care about.

Here at Screen Junkies, we hate nerds. We absolutely despise them. They are weak and have difficulty with women, which presents them from passing on their genes to future generations. Totally lame.

However, we do enjoy the former camp, the movie fans that click on our articles and patronize our advertisers, so this rundown of Comic-Con exists to serve them.

If you’re a nerd, stop reading. This isn’t for you.

Fans Camping Out for The Walking Dead, Twilight, and Game of Thrones Panels

While lots of panels can fill their venues, it was this triumverate that managed to garner enough interest to not only fill the vaunted “Hall H,” but get people to camp out overnight to guarantee access. Twilight is the biggest story here, not only because the cast and crew have made Comic-Con a regular stop for a half-dozen or so years, but also because a fan camped out in line was tragically hit by a car and killed after being camped out in line for days.

The 50 Shades of Grey Author Also Got Overnight Lines

One story that would best be left unreported would be the appearance of 50 Shades of Grey author E L James, who turned an entire generation of women on to the existence of butt plugs. James conducted a signing that also had fans camping out overnight. However, I didn’t include it in the above list of panels that fans camped out for because I find 50 Shades of Grey to be exceptionally dumb to the point that it deserves its own section.

Yes, I find it dumber than Twlight. Somehow.

The Hobbit Will Be Two Films, Not Three

We covered this earlier. See here for the whole story.

Oz: The Great and Powerful Trailer

It’s been a while since we got inundated with James Franco entertainment news stories every fourteen seconds. On behalf of entertainment journalists everywhere:

Welcome back, old friend.

The Big Bang Theory Will Send a Fan to Space

At the show’s Hall H panel on Friday, the show announced that it would be sending one “lucky” fan into space about the Lynx RLV rocket.

From the coverage, it seemed as though this parallels a plotline in the show, but I don’t watch The Big Bang Theory, so all I can do is guess. Or do about thirty seconds of research. Nah. I’ll guess.

The announcement allowed the Warner Bros. PR team to drop fun little pull quotes like, “I guess you can say we are over the moon that we were able to give away a trip to space to a Big Bang Theory fan.”

Cute, guys. Real cute.

The Newly-Announced Godzilla Remake Will Be “Realistic”

You know that insufferable friend that always picks out the logical inconsistencies in films that shouldn’t be presumed to have any logical consistency in the first place? Well, he or she will be delighted to know that there’s a Godzilla movie in the works from helmer Gareth Edwards.

I guess this realistic take on Godzilla will only be somewhat realistic, as it will still feature a giant mutant lizard destroying cities.

That’s pretty realistic, I guess.

The higher frame rate will make everything look too...look too...too REAL, man.

If you have to “get used to” something, then you probably don’t like it to begin with. And if I don’t like something immediately, I will never, ever, ever change my mind. Because I represent fickle American audiences that the studio’s lover and artists hate.

Unfortunately for Peter Jackson, director of the upcoming The Hobbit saga, the higher frame rate of the film’s 3D version might not be an instant hit with audiences. At a screening of a 12-minute, regular frame rate, non-3D clip, Jackson said about audiences’ reception of the innovation, “Like anything, you’ve got to get used to it.” Oh, and of course, because theater owners aren’t the most forward-thinking lot, audiences will be paying extra to see something they’ve gotta “get used to.”

He didn’t specify if the higher frame rate is something you get used to in ten minutes, or maybe after a hundred years of inundation, so who knows if audiences will view The Hobbit as a starter film, which will jump on the proverbial grenade of the learning curve associated with new technologies.

The new frame rate will represent a “hyper-realistic” approach, not unlike the way that higher refresh rates on LCD TVs make everything look like a British soap opera or porn. You know what I’m talking about.

The director showed up with Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Andy “Ping Pong Ball” Serkis, and Richard Armitage.

It's a sci-fi thriller with Charlie Day. Do we really need to see it to know it will rock?

While a panel from a studio (in this case Warner Bros.) doesn’t sound like quite the good team the more fan-friendly cast-and-crew panels are, that doesn’t mean they’re not fountains of info from time to time.

Earlier today, the stars of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim came out to present the world’s first taste of the film, which will also be the only footage released until the end of the year. Onhand were Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, and the helmer himself to offer up a look at what we can expect.

Describing a clip will most likely not do the clip justice, so me paraphrasing someone else’s verbal description would be downright foolish. So, rather than tell you what happens, let me just give you a few out-of-context elements to whet your appetite.

Tundra

Metal Detector

Robot Missing An Arm

Child

Other Synchronized Robots

Jets

“Summer 2013″

This shit sells itself.

And in case it doesn’t, Charlie Day’s presence should give it the push it needs.

Comic-Con 2012 has also brought us this first clip from the upcoming Dredd. Here we see Karl Urban judging, jurying, and executing all over the place as he busts in on some tweakers and crashes the party. And their faces.

Slow motion in action movies gets a pretty bad rap, but here it works really well. If they truly invented a drug that made the world look like it was shot with the Phantom camera, I’d try it. Oh wait. Am I addicted already? They say the first hit’s free. When’s this movie come out?!? My skin itches and I want to ride the snake to Valhalla!

So that's where James Franco's been hiding. The Land of Oz.

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard much from James Franco and those worried that he would no longer appear in every single movie, can rest assured. He was just busy with Sam Raimi‘s new epic Oz: The Great and Powerful, which the director presented to a Comic-Con audience yesterday afternoon.

The Wizard of Oz prequel takes a look at the humble beginnings of the Wizard before he found his way to Oz and leveled up. We’re also given glimpses of Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz as hot witches. No sexy Munchkins yet though. Gotta save something for opening day crowds.

Only seven hours of 'Hobbit' films? I WISH I WAS NEVER BORN!

Oh, Peter Jackson, why do you tease us so? During the Hobbit panel earlier today, many were expecting Jackson to announce a third film in the series, but no dice. Unfortunately, the audience was left with knowledge of the two, with studio PR folks saying ”The plan was always for two.”

F*ck the plan! This is Peter Jackson and tiny whimsical people! Give us a third you motherless monsters!!!

During the 266-day shoot, producers had accumulated enough extra footage to make a third fiml feasible, which is a concept so ridiculous that it could only exist in Hollywood.

“Oh, I was so cavalier with filming for your projects that cost hundreds of millions of dollars that there’s a bunch of extra stuff that you could probably turn into its own movie, but whatever. Totes up to you guys. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go alternate between “fat guy with an unkempt beard” and “skinny dude with a well-manicured beard” for the next year or so.”

Or so I assume it went.

Let the 2012 Comic-Con....BEGIN!

Zenoscope’s graphic novel take on Alice in Wonderland, entitled simply, Wonderland, has emerged from a six-studio bidding war as a property of Lionsgate TV. If that phrase doesn’t sound right to you, you’re not alone, as Wonderland is among Lionsgate’s first forays into television, aside from Anger Management, Nashville, and NBC’s Dane Cook comedy Next Caller.

Brian Robbins, the executive producer of Smallville, one of those shows that you think was cancelled five years ago but is probably still on the air, will serve as EP of this new project as well.

No network has gotten on board with Wonderland yet, but expect (hope?) that it finds its way onto cable, as the adaptation is a sexual and dark take on the source material, which is actually pretty dark to begin with, though not all that sexual.

Sexy Alice? That sounds like a character tailor-made for Comic-Con.

The most eagerly anticipated aspect of Comic-Con 2012 is here.

That tingling sensation you feel at the base of your skull is Comic Con 2012′s slow approach. And it’s almost here – in just over a month, the San Diego Convention Center will be packed to the gills with Na’avi warriors, Jedi, superheroes, sexy vampires, dystopian fighting teens, and all kinds of other fantastical creatures. And, if you happen to be one of those lucky creatures that got a ticket – you’ve got something a little less adventurous to look forward too: Waiting in line.

But never fear! You don’t even need a smartphone to have a good time thanks to Screen Junkies’ exclusive 2012 Comic-Con Bingo Card. Just put a mark on each space as you see these fantastic sights. That’s good for, like, hours of entertainment right there. Who needs comic books anyway?
