In order to be more like Zoe Saldana’s hot assassin character in Colombiana, America Young went through “assassin training” at the same training center where Zoe learned her moves. Does she pass, or end up getting water boarded? Watch for yourself and find out.

Never underestimate the help, people. Or The Help, for that matter, which braved Hurricane Irene and a bunch of weak openers (again) for another week at the top spot at the box office, earning a $14.3 million gross this weekend. At the number 2 spot is Columbiana, the latest action movie from the Luc Besson conveyor belt, which throat-chopped its way to a $10.3 million opening.

<a class='img' href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/dont-be-afraid-of-this-dont-be-afraid-of-the-dark-trailer/' title='Don't Be Afraid Of This 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark' Trailer'>
Don't Be Afraid Of This 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark' Trailer

The other two openers to make anything resembling a “splash” this weekend were Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark and Our Idiot Brother. The former, a horror remake from producer Guillermo Del Toro, was in third place with an $8.7 million opening. The latter, which had lots on Paul Rudd to offer if we’d only just accept it, made it to 5th place with an opening gross of $6.6 million.

Zoe Saldana is consumed by vengeance in Colombiana. She plays some kind of assassin, who after years of training and killing decides to avenge the death of her family. With guns. So many guns.

A word from Zoe: ”Growing up, my dolls were doctors and on secret missions. I had Barbie Goes Rambo.”

Zoe doing her best assassin pose. If this is what death looks like, I welcome it. Zoe Saldana is in talks to star in Colombiana, to be produced by Luc Besson of Taken producing fame. THR has the scoop:Written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, "Colombiana" is set in Latin America and the U.S. Saldana would play a young woman who, after witnessing her parents' murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents' death. So...it's another revenge flick. Or it's Batman without all the philanthropy. I was a big fan of Taken so I'll give Besson and Kamen the benefit of the doubt. I enjoyed watching Liam Nesson crack skulls for 90 minutes, what's to say I won't like Zoe Saldana doing the same thing in a tight pleather body suit? Note to director: take my note.

Zoe doing her best assassin pose.

If this is what death looks like, I welcome it. Zoe Saldana is in talks to star in Colombiana, to be produced by Luc Besson of Taken producing fame. THR has the scoop:

Written by Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, “Colombiana” is set in Latin America and the U.S. Saldana would play a young woman who, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin.
So…it’s another revenge flick. Or it’s Batman without all the philanthropy.
