‘Jurassic Park 4′ Gets A Director

It’s Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow. An odd, some might say inspired, choice, but it certainly does better than going to the well of action stalwarts like Joe Johnston, Joe Dante, or Roland Emmerich. Or Peter Berg. He’s stunk up the joint recently, too.

This news comes after he was rumored to be a candidate for the next Star Wars, until J.J. Abrams slid into the spot. Considering the film is set to be released in June of ’14, it’s about damn time they announced a director. Those dinosaurs are notoriously hard to work with, unless they have a strong figure to direct them.

Let’s hope that this film, with Trevorrow attached, goes as far in the direction of “intellectual” as the third one did in the direction of “duhhhhhhhhhhh.”

The Safety Of Jeff Garlin And Mary Lynn Rajskub Is No Longer Guaranteed

No, it’s not because Jeff Garlin and Mary Lynn Rajskub have become so incredibly famous that fans might mob them at a Starbucks or something. It’s because they joined the internet meme turned movie Safety Not Guaranteed.

Also starring Aubrey Plaza and Kristen Bell, Safety Not Guaranteed is the kinda true story of a man looking for a partner to time travel with, and the three magazine staffers sent to investigate his classified ad. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, from a script by Derek Connolly. No word on who Rajskub and Garlin will play, though if I had to take a guess… a socially awkward computer worker and a fat guy who gets yelled at by his wife. Just going with my gut.

Warner Bros. Starting ‘World War X’

World War IV is barely underway, but Warner Bros. just can’t help itself from jumping the gun. The studio is already planning the launch of World War X, a film "centered on a man recruited by a team of government agents to stop a terrorist from the future who is using time travel to reshape history."

As my colleague Wookie Johnson pointed out, this film smells an awful lot like Time Cop, which actually smells a lot like a Belgian hooker’s dirty panties, which smells a lot like overused cologne. I think there’s a Van Damme joke in there somewhere. (Coming Soon)
