After running on vapors for the past two seasons, Homeland made some major changes and has retooled itself with the new season you see before you. This time, a drone strike gone wrong casts suspicions on the new station chief and Carrie must choose between hanging out with a baby, or traveling to Pakistan where she could be shot, stabbed, blown up or kidnapped and psychically or mentally tortured at any given moment. As anyone with a newborn will tell you, it’s a tough choice.

The rebooted Homeland returns to Showtime on Sunday, October 5th.

‘Homeland’ Season 4 Trailer: THE GANG’S GOING BACK TO THE MIDDLE EAST! http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/homeland-season-4-trailer-the-gangs-going-back-to-the-middle-east/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/homeland-season-4-trailer-the-gangs-going-back-to-the-middle-east/#comments Tue, 19 Aug 2014 16:47:00 +0000 Penn Collins http://www.screenjunkies.com/?post_type=video&p=264299 I can't find Chris Brody in this trailer. Has anyone seen Chris Brody? I'm starting to get worried...

After last year’s shakeup, which may have come a season too late for many viewers, it appears that Homeland is packing it’s bags and expatriating. In this trailer for season 4 of the Showtime hit, we see Claire Danes‘ Carrie Matheson in a foreign land, besieged by violence and self doubt, just like she was in Washington, only now with different costumes.

This trailer fits the definition of a “teaser” giving us only a (weak) acoustic song overlaid with a montage of context-free events, and some vague narration. Still, it’s nice to know the show’s making it’s way back, and hopefully it can draw from the original magic that endeared so many to the show before it went off track late in season 2 and 3.

I’ve yet to see an episode of Showtime’s Homeland which, I know, makes me bad at being white. So please forgive me if this post is bereft of inside jokes and nods to the show. Instead let’s just focus on how Homeland killed at the Emmy’s and can’t possibly be any worse than the finale of Dexter.

To recap, Claire Danes just took home her second Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Crying Woman In Pantsuit, while the show itself won for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. So tune in THIS SUNDAY, September 29th at 9pm ET/PT to wash the bad taste of Dexter out of your mouth. Only on Showtime.

Today in news that has probably been assumed since the Emmys a few weeks ago, Homeland has gotten picked up for a third season. The order is for the now-industry-standard 12 episodes, which is a number that comfort us with its familiarity. Conversely, an 11-episode pickup would have angered and confused us to such a degree that we couldn’t reasonably be held accountable for our actions. Ditto for 13 episodes.

The news comes after Sunday’s most-watched-ever episode, which garnered 1.75 million viewers, which fell just short of Dexter‘s 1.9 million that night.

The news of this renewal, while not surprising, comes as great news for fans of great television, and also Claire Danes‘ agent, who probably has been long overdue for a payday.

Everyone was expecting Mad Men to walk away with the gold for the fifth time after the show returned to an exceptionally strong season. However, now everyone looks incredibly dumb for expecting that. Freshman series Homeland snuck up behind the AMC drama in the cafeteria and pantsed it for all to see. Then star Damien Lewis snickered while Claire Danes made a tiny gesture with his fingers and Mandy Patinkin stroked his beard menacingly.

Also of note, Tom Berenger took home a statue for his work in Hatfield & McCoys, while Tom Bergeron won for his hosting duties on Dancing With The Stars. Truly a great night for performers with easily-confused names.

The rest of the winners are everyone you would expect. And also Jon Cryer. Here is the full list of winners at Sunday’s 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences:

Terror has a new enemy and her name is Claire Danes. In the teaser for Showtime‘s “Homeland,” Danes stars as a CIA somebody keeping tabs on the Damian Lewis‘ recently-released prisoner of war. America regards him as a hero after his crappy stay with the Taliban, but Danes is afraid he could be the ultimate sleeper agent. After all, nobody would ever expect a redhead could be an extremist. Will she be able to uncover his so-called terrorist life?

The teaser has everything you’d expect: torture, surveillance, gnarly beards, politicians, and of course, secret meet-ups on park benches. The CIA should really get around to putting microphones in park benches.

Remember when Claire Danes was once a teenage, card-carrying Generation X Official Representative in “My So-Called Life?” Now Danes is playing the parent of a teen in a new movie, and you are old.

Danes stars alongside James Marsden (X-Men) in As Cool As I Am, an indie movie about a girl named Lucy Diamond whose parents married when they were teens and are in their own little world. Man, Lucy must feel neglected, like… a diamond in the rough. Whoa. Names can have significance.

Based on a novel by Peter Fromm, Max Mayer wrote and will direct As Cool As I Am in New Mexico next month. I hope they’re shooting plenty of indoor scenes with working air conditioning. If not, by week two, I bet Mayer will rewrite that abandoned amusement park scene to take place in a chilly, furnished basement. (TheWrap)

‘Life’s’ Damian Lewis To Play Another Ex-Con On Showtime http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/lifes-damian-lewis-to-play-another-ex-con-on-showtime/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-news/lifes-damian-lewis-to-play-another-ex-con-on-showtime/#comments Wed, 22 Dec 2010 13:44:03 +0000 Wookie Johnson http://www.screenjunkies.com/?p=13175 Damian Lewis has been cast in Showtime's "Homeland" as a soldier who returns home after ten years in Iraqi prison. He'll star opposite the totally-believable-as-a-CIA-agent Claire Danes, who will be playing a CIA agent.

What a lazy dog.

Between “Band On Brothers” and “Life,” Damian Lewis has built a pretty good following. Now he’s set to star in the new Showtime series “Homeland.” He’ll portray a marine who returns home after being held captive in Baghdad for close to ten years. But, a CIA agent played by the totally-believable-as-a-CIA-agent Claire Danes suspects he is planning an attack against the United States.

Definitely sounds promising. With Dexter,” “Californication,” Weeds,” “United States Of Tara,” and “Nurse Jackie,” Showtime always builds really intriguing casts and this one is no exception. Well, I mean the leads. Showtime always casts intriguing actors in lead roles. Ignore the supporting characters. Especially the ones who play the daughters. (Deadline)
