Everyone seems to be looking forward to In Time and here’s another trailer to whet your appetite. In the future, science has stopped the gene for aging. However, you don’t live past twenty-five years old unless you’re able to earn more time as it has become the chief currency. Which means that the wealthy can live forever and the poor work until they die. Fuck that shit. I’m moving to Future Canada.

In Time stars Justin Timberlake as a man on the run after he inherits a century. Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Vincent Kartheiser, and Alex Pettyfer are also on hand to eternally attractive.

‘At Swim-Two-Birds’ Director Shocks Everyone By Casting Michael Fassbender

Character actor Brendan Gleeson, set to make his directorial debut with his long-in-the-works adaptation of the Irish classic novel At Swim-Two-Birds by Flann O’Brien, has done what every director eventually must: Cast Michael Fassbender. Fellow Irishmen Gabriel Byrne, Colin Farrell and Cillian Murphy have been attached to the project for some time as well. A plot synopsis would be … difficult, considering that the novel is some kind of meta-fictional morass involving a writer whose novel begins to intertwine with the people in his life, but suffice it to say it’s Irish.

No word yet on which characters will be played by which actors, but hopefully they’ll all be able to get their Irish accents right. At Swim-Two-Birds is set to begin shooting in spring 2012. (ScreenDaily)

‘Retreat’ Trailer Pits Billy Elliott Against A Married Couple

On a remote British Island, a man (Cillian Murphy) and his wife (Thandie Newton) are living a quiet, peaceful existence until a vacation in which they rescue an injured man who washes ashore. The strange man is played by a very grown up and very creepy Jamie Bell, who audiences fell in love with as Billy Elliott.

Well, Mr. Elliott has a bit of a dark side, the inhabitants discover as they find a gun to go along with his sordid past. Despite their reservations, they reluctantly believe his claim that a deadly affliction has wiped out much of the earth, forcing the trio to quarantine themselves in their cabin.

First time director Carl Tibbetts seems to have found a winning formula here. The minimalistic sets do a good job of fostering tension and claustrophobia. Also jarring is hearing Mr. Murphy speak with a brogue. He’s been in so many American films recently, I felt we had naturalized him. Nope. Still Irish.

If you were one of the several people who saw Buried last year, you’re probably looking forward to Rodrigo Cortes’ next movie, the supernatural thriller Red Lights, starring Elizabeth Olsen, Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, and Sigourney Weaver. In it, De Niro plays a famous psychic, which explains why in this picture it looks like he’s standing on a stage of some kind. Perhaps the sunglasses are to hide his third eye? I don’t know how psychics work.

I love Buried, so I’m pretty excited about this, even though the plot synopsis from star Elizabeth Olsen makes it seem more conventional than that:

“Robert [De Niro] plays a world renowned psychic and Sigourney is a psychology professor, and I play her student… Cillian Murphy is my love interest, though that’s not a huge part of the story.”

You can see the larger picture down below. You can also print it out and take it to the mall so you can get a pair of sunglasses just like De Niro has. That’s what I’m going to do, anyway. (via /Film)

Elizabeth Olsen Gets ‘Red Light’

Elizabeth Olsen is currently getting great notices for her performance in the one-shot-only thriller Silent House at Sundance. Now it appears she’s starting to get some work thanks to her performance as well. She’s just been announced as joining Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, and Sigourney Weaver of Buried-director Rodrigo Cortés‘ thriller Red Light. The story is about “a psychologist (Weaver) and her assistant (Olsen) whose study of paranormal activity leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic (De Niro).” Creepy — almost as creepy as living with the Olsen twi–ugh, never mind. The article points out that the role is a good fit for Olsen because she is currently studying psychology at NYU. Hey, I studied psychology too, can I play a psychologist’s assistant in a movie? Note: I’m not related to the Olsen twins.

Buried is one of my favorite movies of last year so I’m definitely excited to what see Cortés does next, lost Olsen triplet or no. (Collider)

Cillian Murphy Considering Role In Dumbly-Titled ‘I’m.mortal’

Gay-mannequin-faced actor Cillian Murphy (pictured above commiting a hate crime) is close to taking a role in Andrew Niccol‘s upcoming dumbly-titled science fiction drama I’m.mortal. Murphy will join the pretty young cast of Amanda Seyfried and possibly Justin Timberlake, as a future cop known as a Timekeeper. He’s said to be "precise as the time he keeps." Essentially, he hunts down those whose time has expired to ensure that everyone stays young and beautiful forever. Just imagine a world governed by the E! Network. (THR)
