Is it a compliment to make this list?

Sylvester Stallone and director Simon West are putting together their casting wishlist for The Expendables 2, and you don’t need to be an over-the-hill action star to get in on the fun anymore. Though it helps.

In addition to the previously announced John Travolta, Chuck Norris, and Donnie Yen, Sly would also like to find a way to shoehorn Nicolas Cage, Taylor Lautner, Christian Slater, and Highlander himself, Christopher Lambert, into this thing. That list makes sense. Cage, Slater, and Lambert all seem like they would be game. The only X factor is Lautner. Can he hold his own starring opposite these legends or is he going to want autographs? We are talking about a Face/Off AND Broken Arrow reunion after all. (Moviehole)

It's untitled cause middle America can't handle the awesome imagery of 'Bullet Through the Head'.

While the casting of the untitled adaptation of Bullet to the Head has been a little rocky recently, the producers have locked down three big parts with the addition of Christian Slater, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost, Oz), or, as I like to call him “Mr. Copy and Paste,” and Holt McCallany (Lights Out).

Slater will be playing a middleman who brokers the alliance of Stallone‘s hitman and Sung Kang’s cop. Mr. Copy and Paste will be playing the film’s villain, a lawyer with a scam involving Katrina assistance. McCallany will play a crooked cop that is partnered with Kang’s cop.

The untitled movie focuses on the alliance between Stallone and Sung Kang in a reconstructing New Orleans in the wake of Katrina. Allesandro Camon adapted the novel while Walter Hill is set to direct the movie.

With Christian Slater and Sylvester Stallone, this is sure to be one of the top-grossing films of 1991.

The upfronts are coming up, so Fox executives are pressing the "Greenlight" and "Dump Unceremoniously" buttons with wild abandon.

The upfronts are coming up, so Fox executives are pressing the “Greenlight” and “Dump Unceremoniously” buttons with wild abandon, before presenting their 2011-12 schedule to advertisers. Here’s what’s cancelled and what’s gladcelled (picked up for series):

- The new J. J. Abrams series “Alcatraz” has officially been greenlit, because Fox needs another beloved, expensive, poorly-rated mystery drama from Abrams right away. The story follows a team of investigators trying to figure out why 1960s prisoners are re-appearing in Alcatraz. Hint: Sideways Universes.

- Also picked up is a “Bones” spin-off called “Finder.” The series stars Geoff Stults as a military-trained “finder” of missing items and persons in Florida. Hint: “Lost and Found” boxes.

- “Human Target” was targeted for cancellation, and subsequently got hit with the dreaded cancellation missile.

- “Breaking In” did just that with strong initial ratings, but the Christian Slater comedy will not make it to season 2.

- “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” is apparently liked, not hated, by Fox executives. They picked up the new Jaime Pressly comedy series.

- “The Chicago Code” has been decoded. It reads: “cancelled.”

- “Traffic Light” got the dreaded red “cancellation” light, not the green one.

- Zooey Deschanel will star in “The New Girl,” a single camera comedy about a teacher who gets dumped. Like all girls who get dumped in movies and TV shows, Deschanel’s quirky teacher character will have to navigate the wacky world… of dating. She’ll do so with her three new dude roommates: “the cynic, the player and the man-child.” Setting my TiVO to “destroy.”

- As I reported earlier, the “House” party continues with season 8.

The biggest surprise of the spring crop of midseason shows. I didn’t expect to like it, but it’s actually a lot of fun.

“Breaking In” was the biggest surprise of the spring crop of midseason shows. I didn’t expect to like it, but it’s actually a lot of fun. Also, I watched it after “Traffic Light” so the bar had been significantly lowered.

Cameron (Bret Harrison) makes a cash exchange on the USC campus, providing a teacher’s password for a student who needs to hack his way to an A. It turns out the classmate was a mole for Oz (Christian Slater). Oz shows up in Cameron’s dorm to force him to work for his high tech security company.

This is act one and there’s already a lot of fun non sequitur humor. The teacher’s password is a joke. Flashbacks show Oz’s heists and tell an entire story in one shot. The vibe of the show is Oceans 11-y with the geek references of “Family Guy.” Sometimes it tries too hard but it’s so fast that at least 50% of it is funny.

When Cameron gets to the office, he meets the wacky cast of characters. Cash (Alphonso McAuley) is a prankster who never lets up. His catch phrase is “Boom goes the dynamite” and it could get old, but it also seems to get funnier the more often he says it.

Josh (Trevor Moore) is paranoid about Cameron stealing his jobs. It seems annoying at first because Josh is really reaching for things to be worried about. It totally pays off though when Josh is the cause of the show’s biggest twist.

Melanie (Odette Yustman) is just one of the guys except she’s totally hot. She has a boyfriend, Dutch (Michael Rosenbaum) who’s intense and in your face, but actually does sweet thoughtful things for Melanie so he’s not a D-bag. My favorite is Creepy Carol (Jennifer Irwin), who hovers around Cameron reminding him to get a cake for the birthday party. Adorable.

The whole crew is totally nonchalant about all the high tech hacking and heisting. The technology is ridiculous because it’s just supposed to be fun. There’s a tracking device in a Goober, a US drive that creates a backdoor to the system and a really cool toy to circumvent a laser grid. It’s Roger Moore era Bond.

Oz is the ultimate Christian Slater character. It’s like J.D. from Heathers grew up. He’s into anarchy and condones his employees causing trouble. He’s got cool memorabilia like Captain Kirk’s chair because he’s a man of exquisite tastes. It’s that smooth talking slicked back cool guy from the ‘80s (and ‘90s if you count Kuffs, which I do.)

There are so many schemes in the pilot, I wonder if they’re going to keep up this momentum each week. It’s a really quick half hour so it works as a standalone short. If it works every week, that’ll be a refreshing caper on TV. If it peters out, then the complete first season DVD will be short and inexpensive.

"Breaking In" is also about a team of kooky security experts who test your company's security by hacking it. The main thing this trailer is missing: Dan Muthafreakin' Aykroyd.

A team of kooky security experts are hired by companies to test their security by hacking it. That’s the set-up for the 1992 film Sneakers and the new Fox sitcom Breaking In. They even unfroze 90s star Christian Slater to play the lead and provide a quasi-bridge between the two properties.

Slater plays Contra Security leader OZ, “a boss… who’s a little eccentric” and a lot Jack Nicholson. Also in the cast are Bret Harrison, Odette Yustman, Alphonso McAuley, and Trevor Moore. The series is co-created by Adam F. Goldberg (“Aliens In America”) and Seth Gordon (King of Kong). I love, love, super love King of Kong, and I like that they referenced Dragon*Con, a surprisingly seedy comic book convention, but on the whole I wasn’t too keen on this trailer. Hopefully the show is better than this, or at the very least, maybe Executive Producer Adam Sandler will cameo as a charming man-child who sings an acoustic guitar song about breaking in to the house of a girl he likes. (Collider)
