Carey Mulligan and Noomi Rapace Up For Lead In ‘Alien’ Prequel
Friday, October 8 by

We've got word that Ridley Scott's Alien prequel may end up being downright adorable. Early reports that Gemma Arterton would star in the film were shot down, leaving the role wide open for the right starlet. According to Deadline, the director and studio have been meeting with actresses, including Carey Mulligan, and Noomi Rapace.
Rapace is said to have a made "a strong impression." There wasn't any mention of how Mulligan's meeting went, but our inside sources confirmed that Ridley "really liked that little boy."

Fantastic Fest Review: ‘Never Let Me Go’
Tuesday, September 28 by

**Sort Of Spoiler Alert**
Mark Romanek’s cloning drama turned out to be secret screening #2 at Fantastic Fest. Never Let Me Go is about a school for kids who find out they’re being bred solely to donate organs, and they’ll probably die after three or four donations. There was an action movie version of this a few years ago, but it wasn’t very good and didn’t do very well so Romanek’s version may as well be original.

Keira Knightley Knows About Carey Mulligan’s Porn in ‘Never Let Me Go’ Clip
Tuesday, August 31 by

MTV has dropped the first clip from Mark Romanek's upcoming Never Let Me Go. The film stars Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, and Andrew Garfield as young adults at a boarding school that is doing more than instilling proper etiquette. To give away anymore would be giving away too much. But if you watch the trailer you can probably figure out what's in store for the kids.
In the clip, Keira Knightley, in so many words, tells Carey Mulligan to stay away from her man (Andrew Garfield). She found Carey's porn and laughed at it with Andrew, which is totally not cool. But then she kisses her, so that makes it cool again.
Never Let Me Go hits theaters September 15, 2010.

Albert Brooks Is One Bad Motha in ‘Drive’
Thursday, August 26 by

Albert Brooks isn't exactly considered a bad-ass. Finding Nemo and Defending Your Life don't usually strike fear into the hearts of men. Aside from his cameo as a supervillain on "The Simpsons," he usually plays a mild-mannered guy…until now.

Behold, Albert Brooks 2.0. Now the famed comedian is 90% more menacing thanks to his upcoming role in Drive, directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. In the film, Brooks will play a New York mobster named Bernie Rose who moves to L.A. to kick ass and take names. The film also stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston, who has turned into a bit of a bad-ass himself thanks to "Breaking Bad."

Now that Brooks has gone tough guy, can fellow comedian and neurotic Jew Richard Lewis be far behind? Only time will tell. (Deadline)

"Their proteins aren't sustainable?!…" The trailer has been released for Mark Romanek's adaptation of the novel Never Let Me Go. The screenplay for the dramatic thriller was written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine), and is about "a group of children who spent their childhood at a seemingly idyllic English boarding school, who as they grow into young adults, they find that they have to come to terms with the strength of the love they feel for each other, while preparing themselves for the haunting reality that awaits them."

Hollywood’s Leading Starlets All Vying for ‘Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ Role
Friday, May 7 by

Every young actress in Hollywood is vying for the lead in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It's like their Captain America.Executives at Sony insist that they are nowhere near casting the part, but Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page, Kristen Stewart, Mia Wasikowska, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Thirlby, and Scarlett Johannsen are actively campaigning for the role all the same. Mulligan has lunched with the screenwriter and Page has written a heartfelt note to the producer. Johannsen gave Hathaway an upper-decker and Kristen Stewart has just kinda stood around looking emo. Despite these sincere attempts, director David Fincher may cast an unknown for the part because he feels the material is strong enough to not require a name actress.Although Brad Pitt has reportedly been offered the male lead. They should just cast Angelina. I'm sure she has a dragon tattooed on her someplace. (Deadline)
