January Jones was robbed!

The official Razzie nominations are in, and I’ve gotta say, we didn’t do too bad with our own picks. This is Adam Sandler’s big year as he dethrones Eddie Murphy with a record-breaking 11 nominations. He and his work (Jack & Jill, Just Go With It, Bucky Larson: Born To Be a Star) have earned a nod in every category. He really is like The Artist of things that are hollow and terrible.

Other notable nominees sensibly include Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part One, New Year’s Eve, The Hangover Part II (Worst Sequel AND Remake), and Russell Brand for his work in Arthur. Nicolas Cage is also nominated for Worst Actor for showing up and getting a paycheck from Drive Angry 3D, Season of the Witch, and Trespass. However, odds are he’ll go home empty-handed once again this year. He’s just facing too much stiff competition when it comes to sucking hard.

Here is your full list of dishonorable nominees which somehow don’t include January Jones for X-Men: First Class.

Born to be a flop.

It’s truly rare that a movie earns the scorn of both critics and audiences, but Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star has managed to do just that, with a rare 0% rating on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes and a laughably tiny box office opening of $1.45 million. This puts it behind other Adam Sandler-produced comedy’s like Grandma’s Boy.

<a class='img' href='http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/nick-swardson-does-porn-in-bucky-larson-born-to-be-a-star-trailer/' title='EXCLUSIVE: Nick Swardson Does Porn In 'Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star' Trailer'>
EXCLUSIVE: Nick Swardson Does Porn In 'Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star' Trailer

Shockingly, this didn’t put Bucky Larson in last place for new releases over the weekend. That honor goes to the scifi/horror/whatever Creature, which grossed, and this is not a typo, $331,000. For you record-hounds out there, this is the worst-ever opening gross for a movie premiering on 1500 or more screens. Yes, even worse than Bucky Larson.

In less unprecedented news, Steven Soderbergh‘s epidemic thriller Contagion is the number one movie this weekend, finally ending The Help‘s reign of terror by way of an opening weekend gross of $23.1 million. Thanks, infectious disease! (Box Office Mojo)

Chrstina Ricci is Kathy McGee in Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star. She plays Bucky’s love interest, or something of the sort. In any case, they ride a horse together at some point in the film. Though still focusing primarily on the big screen, Ricci is making a slight detour into television this Fall with her new show, ”Pan Am”, in which she plays an airline stewardess in the 1960s. Thrilling stuff.

These bowl cuts are the best bowl cuts.

The upcoming comedy starring Nick Swardson, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, features a titular character with an unusual hair style: the perennially infamous bowl cut. But while Bucky Larson is the latest movie character to feature The Cut, he’s far from the first. In case you’re interested in brushing up on your bowl cut movie history, here are a few of the best bowl cuts in movies.

Moe Howard, The Three Stooges

Long considered the immortal King of the Bowl Cut, Moe of the comedy troupe The Three Stooges remains the bowl cut by which all other bowl cuts are judged. And unlike many of the cinematic bowl cut wearers to follow, Moe isn’t some milquetoast dork – he’s a badass who makes his points through violent eyejabs if necessary.

Jim Carrey, Dumb and Dumber

In order to embody the character of Lloyd Christmas in the Farrell brothers‘ breakthrough Dumb and Dumber, star Jim Carrey chose to enter the ranks of cinematic bowl cuts. So legendary was Jim Carrey’s bowl cut in this movie that he has completely divorced himself from the bowl cut for the rest of his career. Might The Number 23 have been a box office success if he’d worn a bowl cut in it? The world … may never know.

John Paul, George, and Ringo, A Hard Day’s Night

The four clean lads otherwise known as The Beatles might be more famous for the shaggy mop-style hair they wore later in their careers, but photographic evidence shows that they were definitely rocking bowl cuts in this, their first movie. It’s not known whether they were going for comedic effect, or if they just thought bowl cuts looked cool. Either way, it’s The Beatles, man.

Anton Chigurh, No Country for Old Men

Anton Chigurh, much like the bowl cut itself, has often been referred to as the embodiment of evil itself. So it only makes sense that Javier Bardem would stretch his head to fit the bowl when he signed on to play Mr. Chigurh. According to Hollywood lore, when Bardem saw his bowl cut for this first time, he was heard to say “I’m not going to be laid for three months.” A small price to pay for fashion!

Damien, The Omen (2006)

While the 70s and 80s were considered the heyday of the bowl cut, here’s an example of what some may call bowl cut irony: The original The Omen, from 1976, featured a Damien without a bowl cut, while the 2006 remake, well after the era of the bowl cut, had a bowl cut Damien for its tiny antichrist/son of Satan/whatever Damien is. And why not? Can you think of a more demonic hairstyle than the bowl cut? It makes a spiky mohawk look like a Stephen Colbert professional newsman ‘do.

Nick Swardson is getting into porn. No, not the hardcore stuff, silly. We’ve got the first trailer for his new comedy Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star. Bucky (Swardson) is a small town grocery bagger, going nowhere in life – until he discovers that his conservative parents were once adult film stars! Armed with the belief that he has found his destiny, Bucky packs up and heads out to LA, hoping to follow in his parents’ footsteps.

One might assume Bucky does well in porn due to larger than average valuable asset, but it’s quite the opposite. It’s his average-sized member that skyrockets him to the top. See, men. Size doesn’t matter. In fact, too much of something can be unsettling both aesthetically and physically.

Bucky Larson releases in clean and decent theaters September 9, 2011.
