As We Predicted, Adam Sandler Sweeps The 2012 Razzie Award Nominations

The official Razzie nominations are in, and I’ve gotta say, we didn’t do too bad with our own picks. This is Adam Sandler’s big year as he dethrones Eddie Murphy with a record-breaking 11 nominations. He and his work (Jack & Jill, Just Go With It, Bucky Larson: Born To Be a Star) have earned a nod in every category. He really is like The Artist of things that are hollow and terrible.

Other notable nominees sensibly include Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part One, New Year’s Eve, The Hangover Part II (Worst Sequel AND Remake), and Russell Brand for his work in Arthur. Nicolas Cage is also nominated for Worst Actor for showing up and getting a paycheck from Drive Angry 3D, Season of the Witch, and Trespass. However, odds are he’ll go home empty-handed once again this year. He’s just facing too much stiff competition when it comes to sucking hard.

Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Bucky Larson’ Has A Sucky Opening

It’s truly rare that a movie earns the scorn of both critics and audiences, but Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star has managed to do just that, with a rare 0% rating on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes and a laughably tiny box office opening of $1.45 million. This puts it behind other Adam Sandler-produced comedy’s like Grandma’s Boy.

Shockingly, this didn’t put Bucky Larson in last place for new releases over the weekend. That honor goes to the scifi/horror/whatever Creature, which grossed, and this is not a typo, $331,000. For you record-hounds out there, this is the worst-ever opening gross for a movie premiering on 1500 or more screens. Yes, even worse than Bucky Larson.

In less unprecedented news, Steven Soderbergh‘s epidemic thriller Contagion is the number one movie this weekend, finally ending The Help‘s reign of terror by way of an opening weekend gross of $23.1 million. Thanks, infectious disease! (Box Office Mojo)

Though still focusing primarily on the big screen, Ricci is making a slight detour into television this Fall with her new show, ”Pan Am”, in which she plays an airline stewardess in the 1960s. Thrilling stuff.

But while Bucky Larson is the latest movie character to feature The Cut, he’s far from the first. In case you’re interested in brushing up on your bowl cut movie history, here are a few of the best bowl cuts in movies.

Moe Howard, The Three Stooges

Long considered the immortal King of the Bowl Cut, Moe of the comedy troupe The Three Stooges remains the bowl cut by which all other bowl cuts are judged.
