Looks like the Primetime Emmy committee also misses seeing Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Having been too busy committeeing for Godzilla or Need For Speed, they brought Breaking Bad’s Walt and Jessie back for this Pawn Stars parody video also starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Created by the team behind Broad City, it’s pretty funny throughout but worth watching all the way to the end. Give it a watch and don’t forget to watch the Emmys and Godzilla and Need For Speed.

Until this point, Godzilla trailers have mostly been a lot of Bryan Cranston yelling but that doesn’t put butts in seats in Asia. So for the Godzilla trailer released in Asia, the marketing department gives the people what they want — giant monsters and the inference that they are going to fight. And more Ken Watanabe (he’s like the Bryan Cranston of Asia).

This is our first real look at Godzilla‘s opponent, MUTO (outside of toy form), which appears to be some kind of pterodactyl with radioactive hook arms. Which means it was either conceived by a six-year old or a really high person.

When watching the most recent Godzilla trailer, you might have noticed some monster parts that didn’t look familiar. Turns out that, yes, Godzilla will feature a second monster. Pictures of the film’s toy-line have arrived online that feature the giant monster bat thing that Godzilla will inevitably pick up and throw into skyscrapers as if people don’t live and store all of their shit there. Can’t you two go fight in a giant field or something?

Sadly, there are no Juliette Binoche action figures so thank god you didn’t sell off your Dan in Real Life playset. I highly recommend you peruse the Godzilla licensed product guide. This thing is packed with treasure. Like this sweet baby.

Can I put this image on my checks?

If you’ve been watching the last few Godzilla trailers, you know that Bryan Cranston seems to hate the crap out of the giant monster. The latest, extended trailer fills in the gaps to explain the Cranston-Godzilla beef. You see, it seems that Godzilla forced Cranston to have to kill his own wife. Talk about bad first impressions. That would cheese me off too.

As a fan of the show, it’s really cool to have this kind of access to such a private behind-the-scenes moment. I wish more shows practiced this. For instance, I would love to have seen James Gandolfini as he read the final pages of The Sopranos finale. I like to think his reaction was something along the lines of, “The fuck is dis?”

Breaking Bad might be ending but that doesn’t mean you can’t own Walter White‘s face for your own creepy reasons. This past summer, Bryan Cranston caused a stir at Comic-Con by walking around in an eerily-realistic Walter White mask right under the runny noses of unsuspecting fans. Now the company that created the mask, Landon Meier, has put the mask on eBay. Bids are north of $30,000. Heisenberg’s hat sold separately.

Before you decide to buy however, please keep in mind that the mask is gently used.

I don’t care to know where this thing ends up.

Wouldn’t you know it? It turns out Bryan Cranston has been able to parlay his Breaking Bad success into some other paying gigs. Bully for him.

Since our site is and will be 100% focused on Breaking Bad until two days after the finale, we are under moral and ethical obligation to report that the show’s star, Mr. Bryan Cranston, has hooked up with director Jay Roach in the biopic of Dalton Trumbo (creatively titled Trumbo), the blacklisted screenwriter and author who went to jail rather than answer to allegations of un-American activity during the McCarthy hearings.

Trumbo carried on, writing under a pseudonym in the wake of the witchhunt before finally taking the offensive, ending the blacklist and clearing his name.

If only Cranston’s other project would have such a compelling and satisfactory ending.

Literally.

The new Breaking Bad trailer focuses on time lapse imagery of the desert and several Albuquerque landmarks featured in the series while we hear Walter White reading Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “Ozymandias,” a poem about a king losing his empire. It all culminates with a shot of Walter’s Heisenberg laying dusty on the desert floor. So, at some point this season, we can expect to see an episode where Walter misplaces his hat.

It is no surprise that happy-go-lucky Bryan Cranston has a dark side. I mean, no one could play a character as dark as Walter White in Breaking Bad without having some firsthand experiences with pain and rage.

Sho’ nuff, this month’s GQ has a profile on Cranston preceding the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad‘s run, and in it, Cranston says…this:

It was a woman he dated after his short-lived first marriage. She was a drug addict, terribly unstable, and she followed Cranston to New York when he left L.A. to work on the soap opera Loving. She stalked him, leaving messages on his answering machine: “I’m gonna kill you. I’m gonna cut your balls off. I’m gonna have your d*ck sawed off.” Finally, one day, the woman showed up at Cranston’s Upper West Side apartment, banging on the door.

And I envisioned myself killing her. It was so clear. My apartment had a brick wall on one side, and I envisioned opening the door, grabbing her by the hair, dragging her inside, and shoving her head into that brick wall until brain matter was dripping down the sides of it.

Then this, to make us feel a LITTLE better:

Then I shuddered and realized how clearly I saw that happening,” continues the actor. “And I called the police because I was so afraid. I was temporarily insane — capable of doing tremendous damage to her and to myself.”

In an effort to head off any possible spoilers about the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad, authorities put the smack down on one Xavier McAfee, who broke into Cranston’s car and stole his iPad, and the script from one of the final episodes. The man was caught after having bragged about ripping off Cranston, but the script has yet to be recovered.

Because of this one man’s act of greed, we now have to spend the next four months with earmuffs on, humming, so that we don’t overhear one word of potential plot resulting from the theft. We’ll especially be shying away from words like “Gus,” “Hank,” “Walt,” and “Walt Jr.’s newfound egg allergy.”

Damn you, Xavier McAfee.

If this acting thing doesn’t work out, Bryan Cranston has a fall back. The Breaking Bad star revealed on The Howard Stern Show yesterday that while preparing for the role, he was taught how to make high quality meth. Taught by the DEA.

“We were taught how to make meth (by) DEA chemists who were our consultants on the show. We didn’t cook it, but we were told exactly the process at that high level.”

Cranston remained mum as to whether or not he actually tried it in his spare time.

“Maybe. I can’t tell you one way or the other. It’s extremely difficult. There are so many volatile components to it that at any given time, you could literally blow up. So you had to be very careful and very specific to follow this. Most of the cooks are also meth heads themselves. That’s why they get themselves in trouble and you see burn marks, or their hands are missing.”

So don’t get any ideas, Frankie Muniz. (Today)

We’re officially now in the home stretch of Breaking Bad, with the front eight eps of season five in the bag, and nine months or so until we’re treated to the final eight. I’m going to offer a little (very little, actually) speculation about what could happen in the final octet, and will be doing so with the knowledge of events up to this point, so…

SPOILERS.

  • Walt dies (3-1)
  • It’s revealed that Walt is dying (also 3-1) The fact that people aren’t making a bigger deal of the hospital scene is a bit odd to me. He’s shown getting a scan, then he all of a sudden gives up the life? Giant. Red. Flag.
  • Walt gets pinched (15-1) The gig is up, but I don’t see any likelihood of Walt going peacefully into custody.
  • Lydia dies (2-1) She’s one of the few human connections from Fring’s operation and Gale’s murder to Walt. She’s not that formidable, and since Walt has proven he’s willing to kill to ensure business runs smoothly, it’s no surprise that he’d kill to ensure life outside of prison.
  • The show ends in a musical number in which all the principal characters sing to the camera (10,000-1)
  • Walt turns to his old college buddy/business partner for a BIG favor (7-1)
  • Everyone walks away fine, and things go back to how they were (5-1) Only then will bad be broken. Yay!

Bryan Cranston, who has enjoyed appearing in most every work of television and film since making a name for himself on Breaking Bad, decided that he hasn’t crammed his fingers into the 30 Rock pie yet.

Well, that’s been fixed as he signed on to play Ron, Kenneth’s mom’s “friend” during the final season of the show. Kenneth’s mom will be played by Catherine O’Hara, so expect the interactions of these two to be WAY more interesting than what’s going on with Frank or Jenna or whoever is still on the show.

Of all the Cranston announcements that could have been issued today, this isn’t among the top 100 most promising, but it’s something, and considering Michael Clarke Duncan died this weekend, we could use the boost.

Aaron Paul, who’s already signed on for another cable drama after Breaking Bad takes its bow next year, continues to ride the wave of goodwill that stems from having anything to do with Breaking Bad.

Paul will join Imogen Poots, Toni Collette, and Pierce Brosnan in an adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel that follows a washed-up TV star, the mother of a disabled boy, and an aspiring rock star who all live in London and who find their lives intersecting in unforeseen ways.

Oh God. That sounds a lot like the premise for Love Actually.

RUN AARON PAUL!!! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! I WILL HIDE YOU IN MY ATTIC UNTIL IT’S SAFE TO COME OUT!!!

Oh, wait. All the main characters in Long Way Down meet each other because they all planned to commit suicide. That sounds way more interesting than Love Actually.

AMC premiered a new promo for the fifth season of Breaking Bad during the Mad Men finale which hints Walter may have absolutely tipped over the edge into full-bore ruthlessness. The only thing that could make this threat more threatening would be if he were peeing on Saul’s shoes while saying it. Which he very well could be.

If only Bryan Cranston had take this hard approach with Reese. Dewey would have had a far happier childhood.

With Game of Thrones now out of our lives once again for an unbearable period of time, we’ll now turn to Breaking Bad to fulfill the awesome television deficit. In support of the fifth and final season, AMC has released this poster that shows Walter White just chillin’ while surrounded by piles of cash and crystal meth. It’s like a No Limits Record cover except well lit and without rottweilers barfing diamonds.

I know that Walter has to be careful how he spends his money, but he could have splurged a little on his throne. The folding deck chair isn’t nearly as intimidating as the sword-covered iron throne. Though it is easier to carry. Mr. White is nothing if not practical.

Walter White’s 7 Most Underhanded Moments http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-lists/walter-whites-7-most-underhanded-moments/ http://www.screenjunkies.com/tv/tv-lists/walter-whites-7-most-underhanded-moments/#comments Tue, 29 May 2012 17:15:36 +0000 Wookie Johnson http://www.screenjunkies.com/?p=248690 Heavy is the head that wears the porkpie.

Breaking Bad is a show about choices and consequences. When diagnosed with stage-three terminal lung cancer, high school chemistry teacher Walter White makes a big decision for the good of his family. Like in chemistry, every action causes a reaction and eventually an explosion, and Walter finds his choices lead him down a dark path. Every scheme pulls him deeper and deeper; his humanity eaten away with each questionable decision. Over time he changes from a good-natured suburban dad to the vicious kingpin of a drug operation.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Here are Walter White’s most underhanded moments. Obviously, SPOILERS ABOUND. And don’t forget, season four is available on Blu-rayTM and DVD June 5th, just in time to catch up for Season Five!

Cook Meth In The First Place

With the odds of his survival extremely low, Walter White dreads leaving his pregnant wife and handicapped son without a means of income. After a chance meeting with Jesse, a former student, Walter hatches the plan to cook and sell extremely potent methamphetamine. With Jesse’s knowledge of the criminal underworld, the two team up and find they need to be savvy if they hope to survive.

Lies To Family About Money

When Walter shares the news of his illness with loved ones, relatives and friends offer to help out with his treatment costs. Amongst them is an old flame Gretchen. Now extremely wealthy, Gretchen offers him all of the money he’ll ever need. However, he’s too proud to accept, and dismisses her offer. Instead, he moves ahead full steam with the plans to cook meth. This requires he get involved with extremely violent and dangerous business partners.

Poisoning Tuco

After being threatened by Tuco, a crazed business associate, Walt and Jesse decide they need to take him out. Rather than shoot him point blank and risk reprisal from his cartel associates, they decide to poison Tuco with ricin. However, he’s unable to feed him the poison as planned and is attacked by Tuco. Through sheer luck, Walter and Jesse are able to escape at the last moment.

Allowing Jane to Die

The stress of killing, stealing, and lying takes its toll on the partnership of Walt and Jesse. Walt begins to feel Jesse completely slipping out of his control after he takes up with Jane, a recovering addict who relapses along with Jesse. Walter agrees to give Jesse his share of the money but only on the condition that he get sober first. Jane finds out and blackmails Walter. After caving in and giving Jesse his money, Walter still feels the need to help him kick his addiction. He visits Jesse to find both he and Jane passed out after taking heroin. Jane rolls onto her back and begins to choke on her own vomit. Walter resists the urge to save her and watches as she asphyxiates. Finding his lover dead the next morning causes Jesse to get the rehabilitative help he needs.

However, every action has a reaction. Walter’s shady choice leaves Jane’s dad grief-stricken. Jane’s dad is an air traffic controller. Exhausted and dazed, he returns to work too soon and causes two commercial passenger planes to collide in mid-air, killing all of the passengers.

Orders Gale’s Murder

Walter’s only foothold in the world of drug-dealing is that nobody can replicate or best his formula. This attracts the attention of local businessman (and secret crime lord) Gus Fring. He hires Walt and sets him up with a state of the art super-lab for the mass production of product. This lab also comes with an assistant named Gale. The two get along perfectly. Gus is another story.

Gus and Walter disagree on issues like murdering children. Gus is cheers and Walt is jeers. As this tension grows, Gus has Gale watch Walter and learn his recipe. Once he has it down, Walter and Jesse will be eliminated. In a bid to guarantee his and Jesse’s survival, Walt sends Jesse to murder Gale, a chemistry nerd and karaoke fan mostly innocent of any wrongdoing.

Launders Money Via Car Wash

When his wife Skylar finally learns his shocking secret, she gets used to the money. Too used to it. She insists that she be involved in a business manager capacity. They decide to go along with her plan of cheating a local car wash dealer out of his business. They then use that facility to cover their tracks when asked where all their money is coming from.

Poisons A Child to Get to Gus Fring

In his most diabolical scheme yet, Walter White pulls off a long con that eliminates Gus Fring. His plan is anything but simple:

- Convince Jesse to help him poison Gus
- Steal poison back from wishy-washy Jesse via an innocuous third party
- Poison Jesse’s girlfriend’s son with a not-deadly poison that resembles a deadly poison
- Convince Jesse that Gus poisoned the boy
- Have Jesse arrange a meet with Gus
- Place explosives on Gus’s car during the meet
- Find alternate way of blowing up Gus by placing explosives on an old man’s wheelchair
- Blow up the old man and Gus

So, yeah, I’d say Walter White has experienced a moral shift and established himself as an adaptable thinker capable of extreme evil. He’s become a cancer himself.

The best news you’ll get all week came on a Monday. Breaking Bad, or as it is known to all who have seen it as “the best show on television,” will be returning to AMC on July 15th, minus a couple characters who didn’t make it through the finale.

The season will be split in two segments, with eight episodes airing starting in July ’12, then a looooooong wait to watch the final eight episodes of the series in July ’13.

Also, it would appear that Walt and Jess are free and clear, so there’s probably nothing else that will go wrong. You know, sixteen episodes of tying up lose ends, and everyone getting closure and mulling over the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

And, God willing, some more Mike the Cleaner. Lots more Mike the Cleaner.

Ben Affleck is back with his third directorial feature Argo and it looks like the sumbitch has done it again. Here the director also stars as a CIA agent who hatches the kooky plan of rescuing American hostages from late 70′s Iran by disguising them as the crew of a Canadian sci-fi film. That fake film is titled Argo and not Killer Poutine like I would have expected. Do they want to open to 200 million loonies or what? And just what the eff is an Argo? Sounds like the way Ben Affleck pronounces ”ergo.”

It‘s hard to believe that it’s been five months since the season finale of Breaking Bad. Time flies when you’re…not watching Breaking Bad, I guess. Your patience will soon be rewarded, as Bryan Cranston let his disciples on Twitter know.

The Tweet reads:

“a few weeks before cameras roll on season 5. I cant wait. I love doing this show and will miss it when its time to say goodbye. Airs in July.”

So there you have it. Hard to misinterpret. Though this isn’t an official announcement, but it’s sort of like if Tom Hanks told you that you had a little food on your lip – you’d believe it, wouldn’t you?

So put your trust in Bryan “Cranst” Cranston, and get your popcorn ready!*

(*You only need to start preparing your Breaking Bad popcorn now if you really suck at making popcorn.)

We all do things that we don’t like for money. Whereas some of us wait tables or walk dogs or blog, there are others who want so badly to make it as an actor that they’ll take roles they should have thought twice about. Whether they were attempting to get their start, looking for a challenge, or unable to resist the money, there are several celebrated actors who took roles that made them look like complete anuses.

Here is our list of award winning actors and the silly things that directors made them do.

Paul Giamatti – Big Fat Liar

Just one year before American Splendor launched him into starring roles, Paul Giamatti was died blue and taking nut-shots opposite Frankie Muniz in the kid’s comedy Big Fat Liar. In the film, Giamatti plays a sleazy Hollywood producer who plagiarizes Muniz’s school essay and turns it into a hit film. As revenge, Muniz teams up with Amanda Bynes to turn his world upside down. His skin and hair are dyed, his car destroyed, and his staff turned against him. That’s the kid’s film equivalent of being Qaddfi’d.

Bryan Cranston – Mighty, Morphin’ Power Rangers

It was a long and winding road that lead Bryan Cranston to Emmy gold and his breakout role as Walter White on Breaking Bad. Along the way, he picked up guest-starring spots and odd voice work all around Hollywood. One voice over gig was that of Snizard on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. The snake/lizard hybrid easily defeated its foes by launching “tonsil snakes” that would wrap around and weaken their targets. Cranston got off lucky here. So many Hollywood hopefuls are forced to deal with a very different definition of tonsil snake if they want to be stars.

Sean Connery – Zardoz

After captivating the world with his portrayal of James Bond in six films, Sean Connery was walking on sunshine. Considered by many to be the epitome of sexy, the Scottish actor was a major movie star the entire world over. That must be want gave him the confidence to wear a long french braid and strut around in a puffy red diaper with matching ammo bandelier suspenders. Eh. It was the 70′s.

Bryan Cranston can do anything he wants. His career-changing work on Breaking Bad has pushed the former Malcolm in the Middle star into Hollywood’s A-list. How does he choose to use this to his advantage? By lining up roles opposite Hollywood’s elite? Well, yeah. But also by guest starring on Archer.

Cranston will play an astronaut in this year’s two-part season finale. His character will fight to quell a mutiny aboard a space platform. I’m not really sure what a space platform is, though. Kind of like a diving board, but you jump into oblivion due to the lack of gravity? Maybe? I’m probably right. (Huffington Post)

It took a long time, but someone finally mashed-up The Simpsons and Breaking Bad, utilizing images from the former, and video from the latter to tell the tale of Walt and Jessie via Flanders and Bart.

The synch is pitch-perfect, and there a few pretty clever throwbacks, like Jane as a vomiting green glob and Bumble Bee Man just being Bumble Bee Man. They do rely a little heavily on that one episode when Homer accidentally smokes meth, but I guess that’s to be expected. They couldn’t very well avoid it for degree of dificulty points.

It may not be much, but it has me clamoring for more episodes of Breaking Bad. Strangely enough, though, it does very little for my desire for more Simpsons episodes. Circle of life and whatnot, I guess.
