Looks like being trapped underground for two months is finally starting to pay off. Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment is negotiating to buy the film rights for the story of the Chilean miners. It’s not hard to believe that a Hollywood big shot would want to bring such a dramatic true life event to the big screen, but The Wrap also reports that the miners are negotiating roles for themselves.
Megamind is going to suffer for being the second animated superhero movie. In fact, it follows a long line of Dreamworks being second to Pixar (fish, monsters although they did beat them to insects). I’m not saying it’s The Incredibles, but Megamind is the best Dreamworks animated movie and certainly the best animated movie this year.
Don't question it. It's art.
With his dance card so chock full, we knew something had to give when Brad Pitt joined Cogan's Trade yesterday. Thankfully, it wasn't World War Z. Which is still assumed to be moving forward. However, if you were excited to see Brad buckle some swash and channel Tomb Raider, you're in for a let down. Vulture reports that stalled talks have caused Pitt to walk away from James Gray's The Lost City Of Z.
Before hopping the bus out of butt-town, Pitt was slated to play Percy Fawcett, the real-life adventurer who lead an exhibition into the Amazon to find the kingdom of El Dorado. He and his crew were never seen again. It's just as well that Pitt left the project. He just doesn't seem like the right fit for this kind of part. Besides, this Percy Fawcett dude is a dead ringer for Kevin Costner.
Don't throw away your The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford commemorative jacket just yet (in case you were planning on doing that). The film has new relevance! It looks like director Andrew Dominik and stars Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck had so much fun playing Wild West cowboys together that they may schedule another playdate.
Pitt is attached to the lead role (opposite Affleck) in Cogan's Trade, a Boston-based story about an enforcer tasked with tracking down whoever robbed a high stakes mafia poker game. Like on that episode of "The Sopranos." Schedules are still being ironed out, as Dominik was slated to begin shooting Naomi Watts in the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde this January. More importantly, when is Brad Pitt going to get around to making World War Z? We need that film before the zombie thing gets completely beaten back into the Earth. (THR)
If Clooney finds this, he's finished.
Brad Pitt's Plan B has picked up the rights to In With The Devil. A novel that tells the true tale of James Keene, football player turned drug dealer turned mole for the FBI. It's reported that Pitt is interested in the role of Keene, a man who struck a deal with the FBI to go undercover in a sanitarium. There he was to befriend a serial killer and coax his confessions from him.
We won't spoil the book for you because we don't read, but this sounds like a solid premise. Imagine being locked in a cell with a man who could kill you at any time, while encouraging them to go to the darkest parts of their mind. That would suck about a thousand times more than sharing a cubicle with a farter. (Liz Smith)
Dreamworks Animation has released the first five minutes of their upcoming film Megamind starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill. The trailers seemed a little too The Incredibles-y to me, but this new footage has peaked my interest. Just the fact that Brad Pitt and not Steve Carell is voicing the film's hero, Metro Man, is intriguing. Carell must have been busy on one of his fifty-thousand other projects.
Check out the prologue (which autoplays) after the jump…
Homeless Brad Pitt wants your fingernails. Another trailer for the Dreamworks animated film Megamind has dropped, and I still can’t help but feel like I’ve seen this movie before. Will…
This comes from a gossip site, so take it for what it's worth, but Brad Pitt is supposedly in talks to star in a film adaptation of the groundbreaking videogame, Red Dead Redemption.
Published by Rockstar Games, the same company behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, RDR tells the story of John Marston, a former outlaw who can't escape his past during the final days of the Old West. Supposedly, Pitt has been given the right of first refusal for the Marston role.
Hopefully this rumor turns out to be true. Hollywood is already putting money behind crap like Battleship, so why not develop a film around Red Dead. The game has a solid plot and more interesting characters than half the films I've seen this year, so the heavy lifting is done. And if it works out, maybe someone will finally make a movie based on my favorite videogame of all time, Avoid the Noid. (Cinemablend)
Dreamworks' has released a four minute trailer for its new animated feature, Megamind.
The film tells the story of an evil supervillain (Megamind) who is forced to deal with the consequences of his actions once his evil quest for power is finally realized. Luckily for Dreamworks, the trailer looks a lot funnier than what I just described.
Featuring the voices of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, David Cross, and Brad Pitt, the film hits theaters December 3rd.

Brad Pitt is about to launch World War Z, according to the book's author, Max Brooks.
After five years in limbo, Pitt's production company is finally moving forward with the project. Using Michael Straczynski's adapted screenplay, World War Z will chronicle life in a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested universe. Pitt himself will star in the film, which Paramount has slated for release in 2012.
Having read the book a few years back, I'm excited to see it headed to the big screen. I'm not excited enough to risk leaving my heavily fortified zombie-proof apartment/command center, but I'm excited none the less. That reminds me, does anyone know how to fix a chemical toilet? Mother is complaining about the smell. (Cinema Blend)
Daniel Craig hasn't made a movie since 2008, but it looks as if his schedule is about to fill up fast. The actor best known as James Bond is close to nabbing the part of Mikael Blomkvist in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The film is the first in a three-part series based on the crime novels of Stieg Larsson, and Craig is expected to sign on for all three installments.Rumor has it that Brad Pitt was close to landing the role, but was "edged out" when a bikini-clad Craig showed up at David Fincher's house and offered to wash the director's car. Fincher filmed the wash, and was so impressed by Craig's physique the he offered him the job on the spot. True story. (Collider)
Stroke humor in its purest form. Dreamworks has released a full length trailer for their new animated film Megamind. It wants so very badly to be The Incredibles, but without the voice talent of Coach, a.k.a Craig T. Nelson, it's pretty much S.O.L. They could have at least tried for Jerry Van Dyke. The trailer plays out more like a teaser that pimps the voices of Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill. I had to read the film's official synopsis to get a firm grasp of the plot, and the major turning point isn't even revealed in the trailer. Also, can we please put a cap on how many animated movies an actor can lend their voice to? Brad Pitt was a good get, but Jonah's shuffled up to the microphone in his P.J.s far too many times recently. Check out the trailer after the jump, and the synopsis so you can fill in the blanks. Megamind takes over theaters November 5, 2010.
'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.' And it looks awesome in Blu Ray!David Fincher's Se7en is getting the Blu Ray treatment, meaning you'll soon see the bloated corpse of the fatass who ate himself to death in high definition, as God the father intended. The disk will be loaded with extras, including audio commentaries, alternate endings and full motion video details of "John Doe´s" creepy notebook writings. No word yet on the case, but hopefully it will resemble the box with the severed head. I think that'd be neat!Se7en on Blu Ray hits stores September 14th. (DreadCentral)
After having wrestled free from the clutches of Hollywood's strongest cougar, Brad Pitt is eyeing another big cat. Variety reports that Pitt may finally team up with Darren Aronofsky for The Tiger. Don't believe me? F you:[The Tiger] takes place on the Siberian plain, where human development is encroaching on the tigers’ habitat — and one tiger turns on the intruders. With townspeople being tracked and hunted with an almost supernatural power, a conservationist game warden must face down the tiger. It is a fight that only one of them can win. This marks the third time that Brad Pitt and Darren Aronofsky have almost worked together. Pitt has previously dropped out of two Aronofsky projects, The Fountain and The Fighter. Aronofsky was salty about it in the past but it looks like he's willing to let bygones be bygones. Either that or he's trying to feed Brad Pitt to a tiger. Revenge is a dish best served cold. And by tigers.
Just saying.Adventureland director and Turtle Club member Greg Mottola has been hired to write (and presumably direct) Paramount's adaptation of the overly-titled Important Artifacts and Personal Property From the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry. Mottola will turn the fictional estate auction catalogue from a dissolved relationship into a romantic comedy that has Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman attached to star. Jennifer Aniston is said to be working on a similar project, starring herself and a life-sized Brad Pitt Hairdoll. (THR)
