Casey Affleck, who actually grew up in the Boston area, in case you didn’t know, is on board for a film addressing the 2013 Boston marathon bombing, based on the written account Boston Strong. There’s no title for the film yet, but Boston Strong is a pretty good bet.

To add to that Boston-y goodness, the screenwriters of The Fighter have written the script. In fact, they optioned the book before it was even written. THAT’S HOW MUCH THEY LOVE BOSTON.

The film will focus on the manhunt for the bombers, rather than the tragic events of the day, though they’re sort of one and the same in my eyes. No word on supporting cast and co-stars, but I’m thinking Peter Gammons, Stephen King, Nomar, Emeril, and maybe the ghost of Ted Kennedy would be a nice fit.

Before he ships off to China for Transformers 4: The One That We Really Don’t Need, Mark Wahlberg is getting some more work done here in the good old U-S-of-A. More specifically, in Bawston. Inspired by the cartoonishly-trashy sisters in his film The Fighter, Wahlberg is executive producing a pilot order for A&E that will follow the real lives of four tough as nails, kooky, Boston bitches.

Although it’s just in the pilot stage right now, I urge A&E to move forward with the untitled Mark Wahlberg Boston Women Project. Why? Because it will be exactly like this:

Television needs more stuff like that. (Deadline)
