Universe Conspiring To Give Us Another ‘Dumb And Dumber’

You’ve probably been clamoring for a sequel to Dumb and Dumber ever since you laughed uproariously at Bob Saget’s antics in the prequel, Dumb and Dumberer. Well now, presumably thanks to the disappointing performance of Hall Pass, the Farrell brothers are apparently working on a sequel. One of the brothers Farrelly, Bobby, recently had this to say about a possible sequel:

“[Dumb and Dumber] has run a bunch of times on TV in the states, and kids will come up and they’ll be able to quote lines from that – lines that I’ve long forgotten. If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a worthwhile sequel – and that ball is in motion. We’re starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing twenty-years later in life, and hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something worthy of a sequel.”

So a Dumb and Dumber sequel is contingent upon the original stars agreeing to do it. That already puts it ahead of the prequel, which not only didn’t have Carrey or Daniels, but also didn’t involve the Farrelly brothers at all. Let’s go ahead and put this in the “might not be awful if it actually happens” file for now. (via The Playlist)

‘Three Stooges’ Looking Less Likely To Strike Oscars Gold

While they haven’t found the right knuckleheads for their Three Stooges film, the Farrell Brothers have mentioned a few of the folks who have been approached. Some are really interesting choices while the others are doo-doo.

Looks like they’ve moved away from trying to win an Oscar and have focused exclusively on comedic actors. While making the rounds for Hall Pass, the Farrellys have revealed the current state of casting. In competition for the role of Moe are Hank Azaria and Johnny Knoxville, Will Sasso leads the charge for Curly, and Larry has been offered to Larry David, Woody Harrelson, and Justin Timberlake.

Hmmm… really interesting choices in there. If it were up to me, I’d say Azaria, Sasso, and Harrelson are all perfect. As much as I’d like to see Justin Timberlake poked in the eyes, he’s just not the right fit. (via The Playlist)

It’s understandable if you’ve been underwhelmed by the last few films from Peter and Bobby Farrelly. We all feel it. That’s why high hopes are pinned on Hall Pass. When watching the trailer, I got the sense that the film’s jokes were just too raunchy for general audiences. This new red band trailer shows that I was right.

But just because they’re raunchy, doesn’t mean they’re funny. Also strange that Owen Wilson only has about four lines in this trailer with most of the attention going to Jason Sudeikis‘s take on a role that typically goes to Dan Fogler. I’ll have to wait until we see the film before officially calling the time of death on the Farrelly’s comedy skills but I’m prepping our 40 oz’s for sip-pouring all the same. (IGN)
