Bill Hader Is Making His ‘SNL’ Exeunt

After eight years of laughter, fun, Muppet voices, and the occasional spotty Al Pacino impression, Bill Hader is officially ready for prime-time. Meaning that he’s leaving SNL. Hader doesn’t exactly have anything on the books to pull him away from the show but just felt that it was time. Those Rockefeller Center crowds can really wear you down. Hader told the New York Times, “It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point. It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’”

Yesterday came news of Seth Meyers plans to move down the hall, it’s suspected that Jason Sudeikis will leave to focus on film work, and Fred Armisen’s future with the show is uncertain. Unfortunately, there have been no reports that Kenan Thompson plans to depart.

Bill Hader Gives Details About ‘House Of Joel’ And Bumpkiss About A Secret Project

Hey, Bill Hader‘s trying to keep secrets from us!! While making the press rounds for Paul, the comedian divulged that he’s writing a project with”South Park” writer Vernon Chatman for producer Scott Rudin.

And that’s about all he said. As he began to give away too much information, he added, “But I don’t know if I should talk about what it is.”

Oh, come on, man. We’re not going to steal it. Whatever.

At least he gave up some info about House Of Joel, the horror comedy he was working on with Judd Apatow. Though he doesn’t know exactly where the project is at, he gave some details about the plot:

“I play a guy who finds out that his girlfriend was basically a Laurie Strode-type [Jamie Lee Curtis' character] from Halloween. She’s been hiding the fact that 15 years ago she survived this horrible night and the way I find this out is that I inadvertently take her back to her home town as a surprise and reawaken all the evil. It’s kind of about getting over your girlfriend’s past kinda thing. It’s sort of like having to deal with, ‘You did what!?’”

Bill Hader Says Every Comedy Actor You Love Will Be In ‘The Hand Job’

SNL’s Bill Hader sure knows the kinds of names to drop to make comedy nerds drool. He is reporting that a slew of up and coming (as well as already here) comedians are slated to appear in The Hand Job, the 2009 Black List script his wife Maggie Carey wrote. The film is slated to star”Parks And Recreation” actress Aubrey Plaza as a 17 year-old girl trying to experiment sexually before going off to college. According to Hader, the film, should it receive the necessary funding, will be directed by Carey, and will star he, Andy Samberg, Donald Glover, Connie Britton, Alia Shawkat, Mae Whitman, and Johnny Simmons. That’s a veritable murderer’s row of comedic talent, AND the mom from”Friday Night Lights!” Let’s just hope the stars align so that these busy and talented people can synch their schedules, and that the funding for this comes though. Bill Hader To Play Famous JFK Impersonator

You might have read a little about Vaughn Meader, a comedian who achieved overnight fame in the early 60s by doing a pitch-perfect impersonation of then-president John F. Kennedy in comedy albums like The First Family. Unfortunately for Meader, JFK‘s presidency didn’t end under the most comedic of circumstances, and his career quickly died. Now, he’s going to have a movie about him, starring Bill Hader (currently in Paul) and written by Robert Siegel, whose specialty is dark slightly funny dramas like The Wrestler and Big Fan. The operative word there being “dark,” since it’s not your typical comedy that deals with the President of the United States being assassinated – especially not one as handsome as JFK. Here’s Hader on the project:

“Yeah, I would like to do… dark. It would be pretty sweet. It’s a real interesting piece and in a weird way it feeds into now, just like people becoming super famous overnight, reality stars and stuff. This guy became crazy famous, the president was talking about this guy and then it all went away. It’s really interesting.”

I for one am really excited about this – I’ve been interested in Vaughn Meader ever since I read the famous Lenny Bruce anecdote about him (look it up), and I think Hader and Siegel will make perfect collaborators for this project. (via The Playlist)
