Yesterday, Zack Snyder teased the world with an image of the Batmobile beneath a car cover with the message, “Could be time to pull the tarp…Tomorrow?” He stayed true to his word but when pulling said tarp, it was a surprise to all to see that there was a Batman hiding under there too. Batfleck is definitely a departure from previous versions, with his tiny ears and spider veins on the suit that confirm, yes, Batman does lift, bro.

It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect from the guy who did 300. We’ll have to keep an eye on Snyder’s Twitter feed to find out whether or not Alfred gets a cool sword or anything.

In a move that makes Ben Affleck seem like a not bad choice, Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. have gone ahead and cast Jesse Eisenberg in Batman vs. Superman. But we already have a Jimmy Olsen, you’re probably saying. Jimmy’s job is safe. Eisenberg has been cast as Superman’s greatest enemy, Lex Luthor. Yes. That Jesse Eisenberg. This is the only instance where I see it’s okay for Superman to break somebody’s neck.

Now, since this casting is 5 million types of wrong, here’s a brief list of people better suited for the role:

  • Ed Harris
  • Woody Harrelson
  • Bryan Cranston
  • Mark Strong
  • Michael Keaton
  • Michael Jordan
  • Gene Hackman
  • Literally anybody else
  • Locke from LOST
  • Beck
  • Bjork

At least they didn’t go with Michael Cera. (Source)

If you’ll remember back to the dog days of last summer when it was announced Ben Affleck would star as the Caped Crusader for Zack Snyder in Batman vs. Superman, you’ll also remember that everybody lost their mind over the news. And not in a good way. Now there’s an update that you’ll have longer to stew in your discontent. Warner Bros. is moving the original theatrical date back 10 months into 2016.

Instead of premiering on July 17, 2015, the film will now be getting released on May 6, 2016 in order to ”[allow] the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”

However, the move to that weekend will pit DC‘s most important film ever up against Marvel as they had already lifted their leg and peed upon that date. Is this a brilliant strategy on Warner Bros/DC’s behalf? After all, if Marvel does release a film on that date it certainly won’t be an Avengers film and you’d think something like Batman vs. Superman is hyped enough to beat a Marvel standalone. Apart from the fact that it’s probably going to be super-shitty. Let’s hope this 10 extra months gives the producers enough time to nurture the creative and turn in a film that stands up to the legacy of the characters. They already screwed up Green Lantern and almost ruined Superman. Then again, they can always try again with a Batman vs. Superman reboot four summers later. (The Wrap)

Warner Bros is used to backlash by this point when they announce casting for Batman vs. Superman. First, the casting of Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader caused the Internet to revolt. Then last week’s news that Gal Gadot would play Wonder Woman got everyone uptight about her body type. Today comes news that Jason Momoa is in negotiations to join the film. Warners have wisely decided not to reveal his role. We can’t get mad if we don’t have the facts (allegedly).

Of course, there is speculation that Momoa will play the film’s villian Doomsday. Or maybe Martian Manhunter (if this movie is being used to set up a Justice League film). Or somebody else entirely. Let’s add to the speculative fire and just say he’s playing Lobo. Or Mr. Myxlplyx. Could happen. (THR)

Because Batman vs. Superman is not only a bad title, but a pretty dumb concept that should only be reserved for Freddies, Jasons, Aliens, and Predators, Warner Bros. has seen the light and appears to be going a different way.

How do we know this? Because a site called Fusible has assembled a list of domain names that appear to have been registered by Warner Bros. GoDaddy.com is like the TMZ of superhero film rumors.

With out further ado…(Just kidding. A little more ado is necessary. Here’s a raccoon in a tuxedo.)

Here are the possible film names. As if they could top what you just saw.

While doing press rounds for Riddick, Vin Diesel told a reporter what I’ve been telling my editor for the past two weeks: “I don’t give a f*ck about Batman.”

You can see the exchange in the video above, and keep in mind this is the first time I’ve slow-clapped in response to something Vin Diesel did. Including the time he surfed on a missile.

The announcement that Zack Snyder is working to bring the ultimate team up film, Batman vs Superman, to screens in 2015 sent shockwaves through frail and tubby nerd bodies everywhere. Up until this point we did not know who was slated to wear the cowl. And we still don’t know. But we are getting closer.

As of right now, the frontrunner is Josh Brolin. He definitely has the chin for it. Beyond Brolin is Ryan Gosling (who would suck at it) and True Blood’s Joe Manganiello (who would absolutely suck at it), as well as these cheaper options: Strike Back’s Richard Armitage, Revenge’s Max Martini and Stoker’s Matthew Goode.

Of course, take these reports with a grain of salt for now as things can and usually do change and Batman will probably be Jake Gyllenhaal. Personally, I’m rooting for Brolin solely so he can brag about having played both Batman and George W. Bush. (THR)

Comic-Con has swollen to such a point that it now takes a week-long hangover from the event just to sort out what happened. We’re beginning to get our bearings as we stack up the news of The Avengers sequel, entitled Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron against the newly-announced Batman vs. Superman.

Take a look and weigh in on these big big big big big film projects, coming soon to a theater near you, probably in 3D.
