After Ricky Gervais’s last stint as host of The Golden Globes, the media made it seem like he was to be tarred and feathered outside of The Ivy. Last year, Gervais used the show as his opportunity to roast trainwrecks like Mel Gibson and Robert Downey, Jr.. This caused monocles to pop out of eyes and pearls to be clutched throughout Hollywood. In fact, a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association told the press, “Ricky will not be invited back to host the show next year, for sure. For sure any movie he makes he can forget about getting nominated. He humiliated the organization last night and went too far with several celebrities whose representatives have already called to complain.” Oooooh no, an anonymous source. Who could it have been who said these things? All the HFPA has to do is find the member who overuses the phrase “for sure.” Open and shut.

At any rate, bad news for Brett Ratner because he’s about to get roasted. Gervais is indeed back to host The Golden Globes for a third year. The comedian announced the news via Twitter with the post: “Just told Billy Crystal he’d better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true).”Let’s all look forward to more uproar. Unless, of course, he shares some controversial opinions about rehearsals. (Deadline)
